post-apocalyptic SF drawings, and I am very proud of what eventuated,
but the new project is what we'll be throwing most of out time into.

-- Yes over the years since I have been on these groups there has been
a vast amount of stuff done by the fans for the fans that we wouldn't
have seen or been able to get from anywhere else, way too many
projects and things to mention.
Even the contributions of people who just post on these groups should
be applauded. We really need to get some sort of honour roll or

I actually started with “Gideon” and tried to find a name that had lyrical symmetry.  So I blended it with “Galen” and came up with “Garvon”.

Gideon was the first fan-fic character we used for the comics so I wanted to tribute him in some way (as we did in WITHIN by having his character appear).

And of course the “Rocky Racoon” line about Gideon’s Bible, right Ty?  J

I am, but particularly with POTA.  It always was nasty.  Say what you want about Dehn, but some of the shit he did scarred me for life!

Killing main characters (an entire planet too!), babies....it’s all there in the world of POTA.

So is irony and I wanted to make the use of the name Lazarus less predictable.....

Well what was the first real group project?

I think it was when I sent the Power Records (on a cassette) to Valerie Williams Parish and her husband transferred these to digital.

I believe then Greg P got scanning and Hunter linked them all up to give us a downloadable Power Records Slide-show on Hunter’s site.

So I propose this was the first fan conspiracy to provide the fans with something free and of great value.

Anyone agree/disagree?  I know I often get things mixed up/forget people.....

a vast amount of stuff done by the fans for the fans that we wouldn't

Even the contributions of people who just post on these groups should

Yeah – and I’ve had more time to think about my story and this way I don’t waste it on the TV Show environment.

It was originally set in the movie (pre-PLANET) era and that’s the best place for it.

I think all TV Show fans want is more episodes, and I would not be the guy for that!  J

High praise indeed.  But it sort of writes itself.
Kind of like my screenplay.  When I first started
it, I started in the middle.  Then I thought okay...
how did we get here.  Before POTA was the
same thing.  We know POTA backwards
and forwards.  So it wasn't too difficult to
figure out how they got where they did.
It might be cool to go back even further

I'm not sure I know your tastes well enough to know if you'd like them or not...but the back up features are short stories, taking place at any time during the film series.  The first short story takes place between Escape and Conquest...the second short story takes place in two different eras, both after Conquest and before Planet...the third story takes place at Armando's Circus with young Caesar...etc.

Perhaps because they are rooted in the continuity of the sequels moreso than the original "Planet" that you've been warned away.  (Though, our last back up story is entirely based on the first film, with few overtones from the others other than the inclusion of a young Dr. Hasslein.)

Ty the Guy.

PLANET OF THE APES is a novel and movies, yeah... and then those lame TV shows.... but...

    a comic is what exactly?

Some consider those 70s Marvel stories canon.  Do you?  What about this new stuff?

anyone considers any of the comic stories 'canon' but what they do
(especially the with the current Revolution comic) is help keep this
    almost dead franchise alive somewhat.

At least they provide some new and different stories, otherwise all we
have is the same old stuff which can get a tad boring in my opinion.

times as I have over the years!

But I'm sure you can understand what it's like when you watch a movie
and you can recite all the lines along with the actors because you
know it so well. So that is why I like to read new Apes stories
whether they be in comic format or fan-fiction or whatever, it's
always nice to see or read something where you don't know what is

And what is canon?  Is PLANET the only thing we can pay attention to, as Rory and Cougar seem to suggest?

Or is Boulle the only true source?

Does each sequel get less credibility?

I am a fan who was hooked by the BENEATH comic – the original CURTIS magazine.

So to me, comics probably mean more.

Comics are the way POTA is kept alive while there are no movies being made.

But to have an opinion you need to get a copy.....Rory......they are under $5 each!  Just get one!

Oh, and by the way – you are talking to the guy who gave you his spare Gold Key adaptation of Beneath, and you were thrilled.  So stop bullshitting that you don’t like comics and you don’t like Beneath!

Tight has nothing to do with it.

I began re-collecting POTA about 11 years ago.

In that time I have nurtured a collection that is now valued at around $30 000.

When I bought the Megos, I got them from Japan – 2 of each @ $30 a piece.  I rushed to get them so I would not miss out or have to get them from eBay at a ridiculous price.  I also bought those other horror figures prior to that – 2 of each @ top solar including the internet rarity.

After being stung with these (that I can get on eBay now for $1 each), I lost all enthusiasm for dollies.

I’d rather pay a true craftsman like Chris Hight for his personalised figures.  They are better and cost little more.

Postage alone on the Lawgiver would cost me over $100.

I would rather pay Brian at Apemania for a correct one with the right Glyphs.

No longer do I desire to have everything POTA – I am getting very particular in my old age and Sideshow was overpriced and not correct enough in detail.  And I’m too tight!  J

It was the Foreign Posters Planet folder....I was just
going to add this one from the UK (which is NOT
foreign to some of you!)....Maybe one of you can
explain what "Double Crown" means......I think it was
used to describe this poster I saw on ebay,....Is that
a London theatre perhaps? Is the "Promenade" in
        London?

And what is canon?  Is PLANET the only thing we can pay attention to, as Rory and Cougar seem to suggest?

Or is Boulle the only true source?

YES!  In the beginning was the word, and the word was by Boulle.

Does each sequel get less credibility?

YES!  With each sequel you get further from Boulle.

I am a fan who was hooked by the BENEATH comic – the original CURTIS magazine.

So to me, comics probably mean more.

Comics are the way POTA is kept alive while there are no movies being made.

I understand.  The movies are like actual sex, you know, really getting it on big time, around the world and, shall we say, downunder?  But the comics are like when you can't get the real thing, so it's just rosey palm and her five sisters.

        The comics are like masturbation!

But to have an opinion you need to get a copy.....Rory......they are under $5 each!  Just get one!

Only $5 each?  I thought they were more than that.  For $5 I guess I can jerk around a little.

Oh, and by the way – you are talking to the guy who gave you his spare Gold Key adaptation of Beneath, and you were thrilled.  So stop bullshitting that you don't like comics and you don't like Beneath!  J

        Michael Whitty

I was going to scan that thing but somebody beat me too it.  Anyway, I like comics of the movies.

"Alot" of people don't like POTA.  Personally, I can't relate, especially considering what a masterpiece of cinema BATTLE is, but it's true -- they just do like all the monkeying around.

comics and magazines from the 1970s from foreign countries such as
Finland, Australia, Germany, Mexico, UK etc.

Some great deals if you want some of the rarest POTA items ever made
If you have further info on any of these series let me know as I am

Well, It seem the new comic is so popular that they have
          # 2 on back order, and only sent me # 3.  I guess I'll have
to read them out of order.  I'm not going to sit around and
wait for them to come up with a copy of # 2.  That'd be # 2!
