Anyway, conclusive proof of the two-timelines theory. :-) I expect
there'll be full apologies from the circularists on the group!

Caesar replaced Aldo/
That's why there are 2 timelines.
It would have happened anyway.
But since Caesar was born it changed.
Aldo didn't lead the rebellion, and he was killed
by Caesar. I don't know why people ever say
the timeline is circular. It's not and that's proof.
Cornelius wasn't lying. He told it as it happened
the fist time. But they always said you could change
your future. But that doesn't mean some things don't change.

I think that all depends on how you look at it.
If Conquest and Battle was west coast and Planet and Beneath were east coast, how then would the events of Beneath change?
If you told me that Caesar killed Mendez then I would say yes. But if Mendez remains alive and gets to the east coast, then I'd say we're all doomed!
LOL! :o)

I think a lot of it has to do with initial perception. Even as a kid I
perceived it to be a circular timeline so I have always believed it to
be such. I think that if your first impression was otherwise, you
would tend to stick to that alternate (or changed) timeline notion. It
then becomes hard for anyone to change their views because there is
credible supporting evidence for both beliefs. There really is no one
true answer.

Would Caesar's society eventually turn into Dr Zauis'? The answer to that
question was intentionally meant to be left vague...that's why the
scene with the Alpha Omega bomb was cut at the end of BATTLE. There is no
clear-cut answer and some retro-revisonist timeline put out by FOX will not
change that.

And that is the best answer anyone can give. There is no 100% proof
of either possibility--the end of Battle leaves that ambiguous. It
could go either way, and a person could make a strong argument for
both scenarios.
For me, the biggest evidence of alternate timelines is that time does
not unfold in the later films as we're told it will in Escape.
On the other hand, the biggest evidence of a circular timeline is that
if the future changed, Cornelius and Zira wouldn't go back in time
during the war, in which case Caesar would never be born.
Although it's documented what Dehn's original premise was, I consider
that less important than how the viewers perceive the film. Personal
interpretation is just as relevant as author intent. If one reads a
poem, it matters little what the poet intended it to mean--what
matters more is how the person reading it perceives it. The same is
true for film, in my opinion. If someone perceives the films as
circular, then the timeline is circular. And if that person perceives
it as changing, then it's changing. <.html

Exactly. Two thousand years is a VERY long time--it's the same amount
of time that has lapsed since the days of Christ, and the world is
completely different now than it was back then. Much of what happened
in Christ's day is so far removed from the modern world that it no
longer directly dictates what is happening now. The same is true for
the Apes films. What happened in the time of Caesar, and the state of
society at the time of Battle's Lawgiver, are far removed from the era
in which Taylor arrives--as such, it's all open to interpretation as
to whether the timeline is circular or changing. <.html

Maybe Cornelius'
original speech in Planet, where he gives
the length of time the Apes were slaves was correct. We don't know what happened after Battle,
maybe the humans regained control and the Apes did become slaves again for
however many years that he mentioned?

Caesar replaced Aldo/
That's why there are 2 timelines.
It would have happened anyway.
But since Caesar was born it changed.
Aldo didn't lead the rebellion, and he was killed
by Caesar. I don't know why people ever say
the timeline is circular. It's not and that's proof.
Cornelius wasn't lying. He told it as it happened
the fist time. But they always said you could change
your future. But that doesn't mean some things don't change.

That was 2,000 years before the time of Cornelius. The scrolls could
very well have gotten a lot of things wrong with a timespan like that,
depending on who was in power during any particular era. Not

I take it you
believe everything that is written in the Bible is fact and happened exactly
as portrayed in it? I certainly don't and that book shares a similar time
span to the scrolls that Cornelius quoted his history from. The
'facts' of history are only what we are told by the people that write the
history books.
Knowing as much as
you do about Japan you would know how they have changed the facts of
certain things that their soldiers got up to in WW2 and still, to this day,
teach their school kids those lies.

The only thing I think it adds is gruesome. Over abundance of seriuosly violent acts. Apes and cops shot in the face (although it kind of looks like someone squirting ketchup!), the dead
cop bodies piling up, crushing of faces and the length of Breck's beating is a little uncomfortable. I think it was a good idea to cut most all of that....I like there is no added speech too.

Speaking of which, the new ANSA footage pretty much debunks the whole

alternates for the Liberty 1 mission, and that they "rounded out" the
team. In other words...those six astronauts were the only members

chaotic and you are right they do fit the mood of the riots....It was just odd
hearing it in the actual film....and "ape Revolt Begins" has some of
that in it as well.
and it is "1991 restaurant" that is very strangely playing during
those other scenes....I haven't watched the whole isolated score CQ yet..just
did some jumping around,....but a lot of what I heard on the isolated score can
not be heard on the regular film

I disagree strongly T.
Patrick (all respect here) actually comes
up with complex fixes.
This is not complicated – it’s
something factual (Chinese whispers over 2000 years can lead to inaccuracies in
history) and easily taken for granted.
It’s a very simple possibility that’s
quite believable and understandable without pages of explaining and a college
degree.

Well, I'm not claiming any third ships yet, but I do
enjoy fixing a
flub or two. :)
Speaking of which, the new ANSA footage pretty much debunks the whole
third-ship theory, since it establishes that Brent and Maddox were
alternates for the Liberty
1 mission, and that they "rounded out" the
team. In other words...those six astronauts were the only members
involved. No other astronauts, no other ships.

.htmlExactly. Thanks for the back-up. I think it's pretty reasonable to
attribute the differences between the first two films and the last
three to historical inaccuracies. As you say, I'm not creating an
entire thesis--I'm just stating the truth, which is that 2,000 years
is a long time, and documents spanning back that far are hardly likely
to be accurate. The ones we have from 2,000 years ago certainly aren't.

Speaking of the book, I hope to have it available for sale in about a

Possible though unlikely.
If Z & C are privy to the "Terrible Secret"
why should it be full of mistakes and inaccuracies?
If you're going to guard a secret shouldn't it be true?
Otherwise you're only guarding a bunch of myths

It’s on Hunter’s site now.
Have a read, and see if you like the
gentle suggestion that maybe – having found all those ships and how to
fly them – Milo MIGHT have the technology to raise and modify and fly
Taylor ’s ship.
Not saying that’s what happens, but leaving
it as a logical possibility, is how I like to “unflub” (without
actually leaving any evidence of “unflubbing”).

The funny thing is, when Ed Gross first approached me about this
book, the very first thought that went through my head (aside from
"Cool!") was "Get ready to be trounced." When it was a free website,
it didn't really matter much if people agreed with me or not, since
it was done entirely for my own enjoyment. Now that it's a product
with a price tag, I recognize that people will feel more of a need to
let me know if they think I've muffed it all up. It's to be
expected--and I'm cool with it. It wouldn't be the first time...you
should have seen what happened back when I first starting writing for
Lucasfilm. One of my editors misunderstood one point I was making
and "helpfully" changed it before going to print...and, in the
process, making me in error, since his change was inaccurate. I
received tons of e-mails, care of the magazine, telling me I was an idiot. Oy.
>Like Christians..fundamentally the same but all unique in our versions of
>what we believe. Don't take it the wrong way.
Yep! Pretty much what I'm expecting.
>And let us know where - and how - we can buy 'em (eg - PayPal?)
It'll be available through Lulu.com, using all payment forms that
site allows. Originally, it was going to be available at Borders,
Amazon, and so forth, but Ed Gross' company, Timeline Books, got
derailed by some issues on his end, so I decided to do this as a
self-publishing venture. <.html

be trounced." When it was a free website, it didn't really matter much if
people agreed with me or not, since it was done entirely for my own
enjoyment. Now that it's a product with a price tag, I recognize that
people will feel more of a need to let me know if they think I've muffed
it all up. It's to be expected--and I'm cool with it. It wouldn't be the
first time...you should have seen what happened back when I first starting
writing for Lucasfilm. One of my editors misunderstood one point I was
making and "helpfully" changed it before going to print...and, in the
process, making me in error, since his change was inaccurate. I
received tons of e-mails, care of the magazine, telling me I was an idiot.
Oy.

It'll be available
through Lulu.com, using all payment forms that site allows. Originally, it
was going to be available at Borders, Amazon, and so forth, but Ed Gross'
company, Timeline Books, got derailed by some issues on his end, so I
decided to do this as a self-publishing venture.

Hi Tim
Who knows? You don’t see these
around for sale, but maybe that’s because they have done SW and ST and
pother seriously popular stuff until now.
If I can, I’ll be getting this just
because it is so wonderful.
I’m only now getting the Sideshows –would
you believe? – and I’m getting them for $30 AUS ($20US) each…including
URSUS!!!
BUT – I missed the special editions,
and can’t find them anywhere now.
How many of these Zaius figures are they
making?

Who has read the POTA Unofficial Companion and the POTA Chronicles books? I got them from the library and both have their good points. I like the Chronicles' timeline attempt although
obviously not everyone will agree with it. (I now sometimes think of a spiral timeline...the events post-Caesar were similar but speeded up or something, rather than exactly as before, although it's obvious the
filmmakers wanted a circle) It's interesting also to read about the comics that were produced. Oh and the info on the Planet of the Men script. The POTAUC has interesting reviews and trivia at least, and an other
timeline attempt. ALthough I don't get how theirs continues for two events after Earth was destroyed...that part is wierd.
I was just curious about what your opinions were on the books now that I've read them. I can't wait for the new book to come out, it sounds even better.
Thanks

Neil and I were discussing this on the
weekend and I think we agreed that a few different film makers had a few
different ideas and while it is meant o be circular (ie Taylor
will arrive in the future of Battle )
we both think it’s obvious that they were always leaving it open to
change. Would most of us agree? Otherwise they would have hit us with it like
a brick where things were going and not have a gentle bleeding tear to SUGGEST
that MAYBE things were still going to go wrong in the future.
I mean the end of BATTLE does NOT seem
pessimistic, depending how you interpret the tear…maybe it’s just
saying Caesar gave his blood and life and first born to see the happy humans
and apes in school together?
I don’t think we can really say what
the filmmakers wanted – if they were smart they wanted whateve was open
to the best sequel and while Battle was supposed to conclude things, there was
already talk of a sequel only a few years later and many scripts were
considered.

post-Caesar were similar but speeded up or something, rather than exactly as
before, although it's obvious the filmmakers wanted a circle) It's interesting
also to read about the comics that were produced. Oh and the info on the
Planet of the Men script. The POTAUC has interesting reviews and trivia at
least, and an other timeline attempt. ALthough I don't get how theirs continues
for two events after Earth was destroyed... that part is wierd.
I was just curious about what your opinions were on the books now that I've
read them. I can't wait for the new book to come out, it sounds even better.
Thanks
Mel, who wishes she could afford the Ultimate DVD collection

Wow, I didn't know that the unofficial companion had
so many errors until I read the Amazon reviews. I caught some things but not
others. I also liked POTA Revisited, it was good.

I did catch the mistake in quoting Zira's line from Escape about

I don't see any reason why it needs to be discounted. The ANSA film
is the first new Apes footage from the classic era that we've had in
decades, and it contains a lot of fascinating info--plus, it's from
Fox. Why toss it out? <.html

Why toss it out? Because it contradicts info in PLANET. They have Taylor's ship voyaging to Alpha Centauri, "four lightyears" away. But Taylor tells Landon that they've travelled "320
lightyears from Earth" to "an unnamed planet in orbit around a star in the constellation of Orion." The monkeys who made this ANSA psa thingy probably confused dialogue from Virdon in the TV pilot [which
DID involve a trip to Alpha Centauri] with the plot of the film... or they perused the "LAST FLIGHT OF THE ICARUS" site ( www.goingfaster.com
) and uncritically swallowed the scenario cooked up by Mister "Ansanaut"...
This ANSA psa "extra" is amusing... but it isn't and cannot be "canon" buddy!

____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ ______
*** Yes, indeed, I did see the EARTH-TIME date of Doomsday. There's a
better still-image in the ESCAPE documentary showing that BOTH of the
clocks read this same date: 11-23-3955.
It is because of this new information -- stuff which interests me
even more than the Unrated CONQUEST cut in this BR set! -- that I've
had to revise my own POTA timeline.
To review, my Timeline is based on the notion that the ANSA Orion
Mission (i.e. Taylor, Brent, others, etc) zipped back to Earth the
same way that Virdon's Alpha Centauri mission did: somebody activated
the EMERGENCY HOMING DEVICE ["EHD"]. Both missions didn't
just "happen" to arrive back at planet Earth: there was a gizmo on
these ANSA vehicles which specifically carried out a navigational
program that sent them back to the XYZ-T coordinates of Earth.
Virdon's ship -- trapped in a timewarping orbit around a Black Hole
orbiting Alpha Centauri A -- first zips ahead to the date 7-14-3085
(as seen in the Opening Credits)... and then -- after Jones activates
the EHD -- they zip BANG-ZOOM back to Earth and land... the EARTH-
TIME clock then registering the date 3-21-3085 due to the fact that
activating their warpdrive in the proximity of a Black Hole caused
them to travel not only the 4.34 lightyear distance back to Earth,
but also INTO THE PAST. From 7-14-3085 back to 3-21-3085.
We don't know what TIME-OF-DAY on each of those dates that this Jump
backwards thru Time happens, but it's around 115 days of EARTH-TIME,
give or take nearly a day. The time period including 3-22-3085 and 7-
13-3085 (and all the time in-between) is exactly 114 Earth-Days.
Depending on WHEN the ship began its journey back to Earth and WHEN
it arrived back on Earth, we can add up to 11 hours or so for each
day, or we can add as little as, say, 1 hour to each day. There's a
range of time to finagle with, here.
I maintain that the Orion Mission zips back to Earth at the same rate
of Earth-Days per Lightyear. Thus, if Virdon's ship zips backwards
through Time about 115 Earth-Days during its 4.34 lightyear jump,
then Taylor's ship would zip backwards 320 LY divided by 4.34 LY
multiplied by 115 Earth-Days (or so).
I've had to move the dates of PLANET and BENEATH upwards several
months, since initially I had planned on jiggering it so that
Taylor
lands on 7-01-3955... the rainless Thunder/Lightning storm happens 2
days later [when the Black-Hole-that- once-was- the-Moon is at the New
Moon position between the Sun and the Earth], on 7-03-3955... and the
Hunt occurs on the 4th of July (for symbolic reasons).
Thus, I was gonna have Doomsday be on 9-11-3955, also for symbolic
reasons. And this chronology "worked" just fine... until this new
Blu-
Ray set shows us a pic with both clocks reading 11-23-3955 as the
date of Doomsday!
So... I've had to rejigger the chronology. I'm now having Taylor 's
ship land in Dead
Lake on 9-27-3955, which
is 2 days before the Sun-
Moon-Earth alignment of 9-29-3955, and the Hunt will be on 9-30-3955.
Thus, with Doomsday on 11-23-3955 and Taylor's landing on 9-27-3955
(after having been at their Orion destination on 11-25-3978, the date
still recorded on the sole EARTH-TIME clock -- in the shuttle in
which Taylor hibernated -- which did NOT register the back-through-
time Jump), the amount of backwards Time Travel the Orion Mission
experiences is 8,460 Earth-Days, from 11-25-3978 back to 9-27-3955.
Plugging that specific number into my equation, I now get:
8460 x 4.34 = 36716.4 = 320 x 114.73875
In other words, if the same phenomenon is causing both the Orion
Mission AND the Centauri Mission to go backwards through Time at a
rate of 26.4375 negative Earth-Days per Lightyear, then
Taylor/Maddox/ etc go back 8460 days [from 11-25-3978 to 9-27-3955]
and Virdon goes back 114 days, 17 hours, 43 minutes, 48 seconds
EXACTLY. The ratio of lightyear distances [4.34 and 320] exactly
matches the ratio of Time travelled (negatively) : 114.73875-to- 8460.
You'll notice that both chronometers read the same date: 11-23-3955.
This can only be due to the fact that SOMEBODY had to have RE-SET the
SHIP-TIME clock so that its date matched the EARTH-TIME date. In the
PLANET intro scene, we see that "in less than an hour" of Ship-Time
Taylor will have been in Deep Space for 6 months -- the SHIP-TIME
clock reading 7-14-1972, meaning that he was in an ANSA ship that
launched from Cape Kennedy on 1-14-1972 OR (just possibly) right at
the start of 1-15-1972, since Taylor's Final Report might have been
made less than an hour before Midnight of 7-14-1972 (Ship-Time).
Taylor's trip began when BOTH clocks were synchronized [with the date
1-14-1972 or 1-15-1972 on them], and as the ship warped out of the
Solar System towards its destination 320 lightyears away, the SHIP-
TIME clock clicked forward at the ordinary rate from their "self-
time" point-of-view whilst the EARTH-TIME clock clicked forward at a
faster rate, averaging 1,337.90666. .. Time-Units for every Time-Unit
of SHIP-TIME. The grand total of EARTH-TIME goes from mid-January
1972 to 11-25-3978 (i.e. 2006.86 years of Earth-Time), which is
equivalent to "18 months" -- or, 1.5 years -- of Ship-Time. And,
2006.86 divided by 1.5 gives us 1,337.90666. ..
Thus, when they landed -- after 18 months of SHIP-TIME -- their SHIP-
TIME clock should have read 7-15-1973. From mid-January 1972 to mid-
July 1973. And, during the events of PLANET and BENEATH, that Ship-
Time clock should click forwards at the ordinary rate of Time in a
non-accelerating frame-of-reference. If Doomsday occurs 58 days after
Taylor 's
landing date (as it now does in my rejiggered chronology),
then the SHIP-TIME clock SHOULD read 58 days AFTER 7-15-1973... which
just so happens to be 9-11-1973. It seems that the SHIP-TIME date of
Doomsday actually is "9-11" after all! I can still keep that symbolic
date, but of SHIP-TIME, not EARTH-TIME.
Yet somebody had to have RE-SET that Ship-Time clock, so that it no
longer reads "9-11-1973" but, instead, matches the Earth-Time date of
11-23-3955.
I maintain that a similar re-setting of a SHIP-TIME clock had to have
occurred in Virdon's ship. The 2 clocks should've had the same date
when he and Burke (and Jones) were at Cape Kennedy ...
the 2 clocks
diverging during their journey through Outer Space at warp speeds. In
my scenario, Virdon's ship was one of the two ships said to
be "missing" by the President in ESCAPE, having left Earth "more
than
two years ago." We know [well, I know!] that ESCAPE takes place in
late November of 1973, since Armando named Heloise's baby "Salome"
because she had been born on October 22nd, St. Salome's Day according
to the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, which was "a month before
the talking apes arrived on Earth." Taylor 's
launch date was 1-14-
1972 or 1-15-1972, which is NOT "more than 2 years" prior to November
of 1973. The OTHER of 2 ships the President refers to MUST have left
BEFORE Taylor 's
ship launched. Sometime before November of 1971. In
my scenario, Virdon and Burke leave for Alpha Centauri in either
October or possibly September of 1971.
With both chronometers reading, say, "9-24-1971" on their launch-
date, the SHIP-TIME clock would click ahead for them like any
ordinary wind-up clock... but their EARTH-TIME clock would click
ahead FASTER. When they arrived at their destination, the 2 clocks
would have diverged at least 9 years of EARTH-TIME, so that the EARTH-
TIME clock reads 8-19-1980.
Incidentally, if Taylor 's
ship had gone to Alpha Centauri, its EARTH-
TIME clock would read 27.218 Earth-Time years after 1-14/15-1972. If
they go from, say, 1-14-1972 to 11-25-3978 (a duration of 2006.86
EARTH-TIME years) for 320 lightyears, then they would experience an
EARTH-TIME duration of 27.218 years if they had gone only 4.34
lightyears. In my scenario, the reason Taylor 's
ship experiences a
different rate of EARTH-to-SHIP timeflow-per- lightyear than Virdon's
ship is because the Orion Mission has to lug around more mass within
its warpfield: a Mothership plus 3 ANSA spaceplane-shuttles , as
opposed to the sole ANSA spaceplane-shuttle piloted by Burke.
Before the beginning of the TV credits sequence, then, the SHIP-TIME
clock must have read a date in late 1971 (September or October).
Their ship was not equipped with hibernation pods (etc), and the
duration of their voyage ["self-time" which is the same as SHIP-TIME]
had to have been possible without the inclusion of many many days,
weeks, or months of food supplies. After all, they're depicted in one
single small cabin! There were no spacesuits in their ship... no
access hatches to other "rooms" or any of that. Their purported
round-
trip fly-by of the Alpha Centauri system would've had a duration of
only a few days of SHIP-TIME, tops; and, if it had gone according to
plan, they would've arrived back on Earth after it had aged upwards
of 18 years of EARTH-TIME, they having aged only a few days due to
the relativistic Time Dilation effects according to Dr. Hasslein's
Theory of Time in a Vehicle travelling nearly the Speed of Light...
But... just before the TV credit sequence starts, somebody had to
have RE-SET the SHIP-TIME clock so that the date on it matched the
EARTH-TIME date they had "fast-forwarded" to: 8-19-1980. And THEN
they experienced the Time Dilation effects caused by approaching too
near to the Black Hole lurking in the Alpha Centauri system, time-
warping them ahead to the EARTH-TIME date 7-14-3085 in about half a
minute of SHIP-TIME. And THEN Jones activated the EHD, and they
jumped through hyperspace a spatial distance of 4.34 lightyears and a
temporal distance of minus 114.73875 Earth-Days. The EARTH-TIME
clock, which must have been PROGRAMMED to correct itself to the true
date when the ship's computer "knows" that they've travelled
backwards through Time relative to the Universe, then clicked
backwards from 7-14-3085 to 3-21-3085... the date that
became "locked" in when Veska's gorillas smashed up the interior of
the ship, so that Virdon and Burke saw it there the next day AND more
than a week later at the episode's end, when Virdon retrieved the
Flight Record Disc.
We know that these clocks can and do click BACKWARDS when they travel
backwards through Time. Milo reminds Cornelius
and Zira of this
effect, you'll recall. The Apes first saw the "date meter" display
the year "3955" on it before the Bright Light and the Tornado [a date
we now know to have been 11-23-3955, the 23rd of November of 3955].
And AFTER the "tornado in the sky" the clock read "1973"
(as Zira
told Hasslein). Milo saw this, too, and
mentions "We have gone
backwards through Time nearly two thousand years." He KNEW it
was "nearly" 2,000 years because -- as a scientific genius -- he knew
how to subtract 1972 from 3955!
I only wish that this Blu-Ray edition would've shown the entire
footage of the scene that they filmed. Presumably, it would've
depicted the EARTH-TIME clock clicking backwards until it read some
date in 1973. I'm confident that the date is somewhere about 11-21-
1973 give or take half-a-week. The events of ESCAPE are over about a
week, I figure, halfway between St. Salome's Day [October 22] and the
start of Winter [December 21st or 22nd]. Baby Milo [i.e. Caesar] is
born about "a month" after the birth of Salome and about "a
month"
before the Circus travels to Florida
for the winter.
I gotta clear through more emails (I'm a few weeks behind), so I'll
leave it at this for now.
Patrick
PS I'm miffed that the CONQUEST prologue scene isn't in the Unrated
version. It's in the script... in John Jakes' novelization. .. in
MARVEL's adaptation.. . WHY ISN'T IT IN THIS UNRATED VERSION??? Argh!
Breck references it in the movie ["... that ape who was killed trying
to escape the city last night..."], dammit! Why didn't they include
it??? Argh!!!

It's supposed to be set then (as opposed to POTA2K1), but it's a new

Apparently the Thanksgiving Weekend
Conquest shown on the Fox Cable Chanel will be the Blu Ray (unrated) version.
I have a friend copying that and I will
make copies and forward these to people.
More details later.
