Oh yeah - EVERYBODY who has a say gets represented.

Patrick's theories, whatever you may think of them, represent a great
deal of thought and effort from a fan(atic?!?!?). :)

As I said I'll be taking stuff from other groups, "like Forum of the
Apes" etc. :)

There will be large representation and it will grow as other opinions
are expressed.

BUT we won't be padding up the group with repetition...there's no
point (unless you are trying to win a "how many posts we get per
month" competition and we all know how dull that is for us to be put
through!).

I have to disagree.  One of the finest cars in
Scree History was Mad Max's Aussie Ford
Falcon XB GT Interceptor.  Much cooler than
the Grand Torino it was based on. And the
Nightrider's Holden Monaro was pretty nice too.

Carsia's browridge is fairly straight across and her nose is a little wider and shorter.  Overall her face is kind of "square", not as "soft" as your sculpt.

I am still struggling with Carsia's sculpt.  She still needs more massaging, but she is much more dainty now.  I may bring her brow ridges lower.  Don't know.  Any suggestions?

Right, Dario! I have my old college-project POTA website on my
computer and have been adding to it for a few years. Now I'm
transferring most of it on to the POTA wiki site (Simian Scrolls' -
another one), and it's great to able to make this stuff available to
the public. It's a lot of facts and figures, pictures, etc. I don't
know if this would cover the idea of a FAQ page, but I think it could
(potentially) become a prime source of POTA info. There's plenty of
facilities there to add articles, followed by 'notes' and 'trivia'
sections where differing theories could be outlined. Also, it's
public, so the casual fan can just look up something that's bugging
them if they don't neccessarily want to sign up to a Yahoo group. For
example.

FAQ you mother FAQer! ;)

Actually, the way you use the WIKI the other day is a perfect example of how I’d us the FAQ page.

So now I’m going to go and FAQ myself.

You might start with an easier sculpt.
    Maybe Wanda or Jillia.

Cavanagh: I had this old Vancouver Canucks hockey jersey with the 'C' in the form of an ice rink that people used to offer me a billion dollars for. In the last seven or eight years, they've had this whole retro craze, and you can now get these things online, so it's lost its value... Boring.

McCormack: I had a fantastic shirt, it was like a velour shirt with a Planet of the Apes face on it. It was Roddy McDowall as Cornelius. It wasn't just a picture; it was like a big plastic or rubber relief that was sewn on to the shirt. It was a magnificent thing. I loved my Planet of the Apes shirt. Hey Tim

I had these as a kid.

I think it was actually GALEN right?

I can’t recall how many different ones there were (the actual shirts I think there were gazillions of different colour combinations).

I think there was Galen, Zaius, Urko or all 3 – is that right Tim?  These are the PUFFY shirts right?

Ha!  I hope Mark doesn’t receive a reprimand, because I’m sure one of their group rules is not to discuss something raised on another group!

Regardless, I don’t mind if they talk about it – or do it for that matter.  It’s a free world.

I just hope the comments are thoughtful and apolitical – not the old typical “group wars” they say this, we say that.

Well put it on your list because it’s the movie Fox would have seen when the decided to give the job to Scott Frank.

    It’s an intelligent, touching story.

Anyone who watches this will agree, I think, that Fox got the message “we need an intelligent script”.

Sounds like a game of football where someone has passed the ball to Mark so he could hold the ball and let someone else kick a goal!  J

Mark, next time do what Lucy does in Peanuts!  ;)

Anyway – thanks for letting me know.

Who really cares what someone on another group thinks anyway?  If they wish to have a voice they should join this group and have their say.

I’m simply amused these days by this silliness – it doesn’t get me worked into a rage any more.

Bottom line – I might get around to a FAQ page one day.

If I do it will represent a gathering of various conflicting facts and opinions, which will grow even more as I receive others.

It will not replace discussion, or at least it will not be intended to.

Quite the contrary, it will be a resource that people can be referred (via cut & paste plus link I’d suggest) to instead of hoping the same people, or anyone on the group, will be bothered to drag up old stuff (because the fact is people don’t do this…unless they are trying to look like their group has more posts when in reality their group is dead and clutching at past themes to stir up the same old people with the same old comments).

So instead of hoping Rory will come in and blast a few people out of the quadrant and then Mike and T and Neil will say again what they have said a thousand times, the response will be:

”This is a Frequently Asked Question about Planet of the Apes.  A summary of responses can be found HERE.  Please look at these responses and we hope this will inspire you to question and discuss these responses on the group and formulate your own opinion.”

Frankly, if you look back at most groups in the past posts you’ll find when we bring up TIMELINES and the other Usual Suspects, it’s getting less bites every time.

More frankly, these groups have said everything there is to say on certain topics.

Patrick (coz that was a lot more words than usual!).  J

      And I agree.

      It’s a tool.

      Nothing different to:

      ”Hi.  I’m a new member.  I hear there’s fan-made comics around”

”Hi.  You can find these at Hunter’s site.  Here’s a link.”

I can only explain so many times.  If you still don’t get it then I give up.

the wrong place i'm sorry, but i stand by what i have said,
I thought the purpose of these discussion groups are for members to
      air there views.
Faqs or no Faqs i still think that this group is the best and
informative, i agree that some questions can be obtained by surfing
the web, hunters site is very good has others are also.
But members feedback is much more personal.
However what this other person is wanting to do , why they cant work
together and share info for the better cause of us all.

There’s no IF about it – you did.  And there’s no need to apologise.

I don’t care if you want to bring something up on another group.

Ideally you’d want to talk about it on this group but there’s no rule against it (well, not HERE there isn’t!).

I’m mildly alarmed that anyone on another group would see the need to comment other than to say “If Michael wants to do that then good luck to him”.

And I’m getting tired repeating myself that I agree this group is for members to discuss things and air their views.

Please stop trying to argue with me on points upon which we agree – it’s tiring and pointless.

      Michael

      Yes and again I agree.

A FAQ page would be for the topics that make 90% of the people on this group moan and want to kill themselves.  We all know what they are and they all drive us insane.

Get back to me on this in about 8 years when you have been on this and at least 4 other groups for that long OK?  J

I think someone else pointed it out before I noticed, back when you
shared the pages first. That's a question that newer members could
      answer...
If the reader didn't get where, specifically, it was set, maybe it's
enough to know that it isn't connected (directly) to classic POTA?

I agree with it too –m as I have repeatedly stated.

It’s not like people are going to be cast off somewhere – they will simply be referred to a place where there’s an answer instead of being ignored (which is how it has been if you go back into past files).

        Hi Tim

        Yes, there’s a subtle difference:

        (1) The Aussie ones come in a pack, with a card header;

        (2) the placement of the writing “GALEN” is either different or not there!

I’ll have to dig it up….

                Hi Wayne,

Yes, I absolutely agree the “hacked” movies were a big disappointment.

They were like a con to get people to think they were seeing a new movie, and they really don’t make sense how they were placed together.

                Michael

Dario, here is a sample of my Mego scale Taylor that I painted, if you were curious about how I paint.

And of course, Cornelius (Mego scale) that started out as an enlarged Medicom head:

I'm not impressed with my paint application on my Mego Zira...I want to re-paint her someday.  All in good time, though.

Or perhaps all Chief Defenders of the Faith take the name Zaius,
just as al Emperors, wether named Julius or whatever, are called
Caesar.  Given that the ape society is very Roman based that's a fair bet.

And of course, Cornelius (Mego scale) that started out as an enlarged Medicom head:

I'm not impressed with my paint application on my Mego Zira...I want to re-paint her someday.  All in good time, though.

                        Jessica.

Why do you think he was named Zaius?

He sure plays a very similar character.

And why change URSUS to URKO…and why not name GALEN Cornelius?

I think it's just to have a familiar name that they did it.

Yeah that’s weird – more Zaius would have been good.

I never actually gave much thought to how little he appears.

I guess they emphasis was perhaps...to have the leader of the orangutang council called zaius... has with the 2 films leader, but cheif councillor* Zaius was how he got referred to in Episode one of TV...onwards.
Booth Colman actually only appears regularly in 3 eps[ESCAPE TO/LEGACY/CURE] ...and briefly dropped in to another 3;INTERROGATION/ SURGEON/UP ABOVE...]!
Pity,i think there is too little screen presence of him...i found Bandor[from TIDE] amusing!!!!

*** That's what I've always said too: Name familiarity.

It's like they didn't trust the audience enough for them to accept a "new" character, so they gave one an existing name so they would be more accepting. Luckily they only reused one "film name" in the TV series and didn't really F things up like RETURN did. ***
