made a great Orangutan, plus while made up, he made a very convincing ape...

Thanks for uploading Neil.
Hmmm..."Steena will DO things for you...ANY things...", I think I'm
starting to see why this story wasn't published! Certainly looks like
there should be more pages somewhere though, doesn't it?

You could be right Mike.
When Ken Taylor worked for FOX he had an
interesting take – he said if it wasn’t going to directly make
money, Fox would not do anything. He said the deleted scenes and bloopers
etc would probably be in storage but not easy to find, requiring time and money
to locate them and therefore it would be unlikely they would do so unless

some (2 minutes maybe?) TV Show bloopers in it.

, we are all absolutely fascinated by your claim to have some
outtakes and bloopers.
Could you PLEASE tell us all more about
them and whether maybe you would make a copy available? I’d be more
than happy to offer financial compensation seeing as you had to pay for them.
Do you recall how much you paid and are
they on VHS or DVD?

Neil
This reminds me of the other brilliant idea I had over Christmas - I
blame the flu medication I was on. 'Planet' and 'Beneath' happen in
the two different timelines! As a way of explaining the different
dates, Cornelius' different face, the mutants, the two ships/three
ships problem, etc. Original timeline ends with 'Beneath', then the
altered timeline ends with 'Planet', leaving Earth intact and ready
for a 'Planet of the Men'-type sequel. But it depends on the events
(or at least the consequences) of 'Planet' happening more-or-less the
same in the run-up to 'Beneath'. I haven't really thought this
through... <.html

| Subject: Ape Chronicles - History of printing schedule |
.html
.html
I will explain the fanzine situation for those who
havent heard it before.
Ape Chronicles was printed bi-montly from
1991-1999
The fan club started being promoted on the internet
in 1998 and my personal touring schedule as a performer
made the production of new issues vary sporadic and
very few issues were put simply put because I didnt have time
However some people paid for memberships of 3 to 6
issues between 1999-2004 and yes was a gap of 5 years
in between issues. I have always kept
good records of all payments made directly to the website for new
issues.
I know who paid for what issues and I know who are
still owed issues.
Of course I could not mail new issues until they
were actually released and this meant a real long wait for a few people
unfortunately
Ironically I never planned to stop making new
issues - but they just never happened.
Looking back it seems that Ape Chronicles had its
original regular printing schedule of issues #1-36 from 1991-1999
Anybody who happened to pay after issue #36 did not
receive anything in the mail for there were no new issues for years
Here is the release date of all issues in the past
10 years!
I always have the intention of keeping it going
more regularly but as I really don't make any money off it its easy to get
sidetracked
with other personal and business
reasons
#36 Feb 1999
#37-39 2004
#40-44 2008
#45-47 (tentatively planned for 2009)
Everyone on the yahoogroups knows that in the past
few years I have posted lists of people that paid for issues from 1999-2004 that
I still owe issues to - but unfortunately as years went by I do not have any
current email or mailing address info for them.
The good news is I think that the latest issues
have been much better quality and quantity material than the earlier
issues
For those who were original members from 1991-1999
they appreciated the dedication to POTA when there was nothing else there before
the internet came along. Simian Scrolls has done an amazing
job of keeping the POTA fanzine idea going when Ape Chronicles stopped
publishing regularly.
I am always happy to discuss this issue with
anyone
For those who have known me promote POTA for
the last 19 years I do everything I can to keep interest in our favorite
series. <.html <.html

Hi Michael please confirm your address
so I make sure you get the issue
I have not received anything yet but I think Terry was
going to send me at least the copy for which I gave an interview.
I must say (sorry Terry!) I was less than impressed to see 5 issues released at
the same time at around $10 each! Terry would be the only person in the world
making money off POTA! :)
I don't like to knock things POTA, but when people are asking for money - it
had better be worth it.
I know when I have asked for money it has BARELY covered postage, and Neil will
confirm that I do actually "pay" him (sometimes with spaghetti
matriciana!) so I am WELL out of pocket.
I can see from the covers and pages of Scrolls that the lads wouldn't be making
a profit there either (John, Dave - please let me know here).
It's also kinda weird, after all the shit I took over my decision to use
"OFFICIAL International POTAFC" title, including being banned from
one of the Yahoo! POTA groups, that nobody seems to have reacted to Terry using
the "OFFICIAL... " banner on his site.
But I must say it's nice to see some old faces back here and that some people
can set aside differences and get on. Contrary to what you would think if you
believed the member numbers of some groups, there's about 100 POTA fans in the
world....it' s a shame to split these into SUB groups!

James,
I don’t know you but I must say I am
extremely suspicious that, at a time when the DG is suddenly freely flowing
with many posts and there is no political crap being flung, you pop up with
this.
We don’t moderate people in this
group because I believe your freedom to speak should not be controlled.
In the words of a famous POTA fan:
Plus who is to decide on what the
questions are and more importantly the answers? The great thing about this and
other groups and message forums (like Forum of the Apes) is
that everyone's voice can be heard. Would anyone really want a small group
dictating the questions and the answers? Again that would just stifle newer
members and fans.
However, I will ask you to take the
personal squabble OFF the group. We don’t need this, and we don’t
want to know.
Terry, the first email I sent was supposed
to be addressed to you personally. Sorry it hit the group instead. Please
keep it off the group and I’ll take my own advice too.

I just wonder if there's any truth to what I read on the other group awhile back, that FOX was going to call in McDowall to dub his voice over Watson's
in BENEATH? It was mentioned by someone I consider a reliable source, so there may be some validity to it... ***

Hi Michael please confirm your
address
so I make sure you get the
issue
I
have not received anything yet but I think Terry was going to send me at
least the copy for which I gave an interview.
I must say (sorry
Terry!) I was less than impressed to see 5 issues released at the same
time at around $10 each! Terry would be the only person in the world
making money off POTA! :)
I don't like to knock things POTA, but
when people are asking for money - it had better be worth it.
I
know when I have asked for money it has BARELY covered postage, and Neil
will confirm that I do actually "pay" him (sometimes with spaghetti
matriciana!) so I am WELL out of pocket.
I can see from the covers
and pages of Scrolls that the lads wouldn't be making a profit there
either (John, Dave - please let me know here).
It's also kinda
weird, after all the shit I took over my decision to use "OFFICIAL
International POTAFC" title, including being banned from one of the Yahoo!
POTA groups, that nobody seems to have reacted to Terry using the
"OFFICIAL... " banner on his site.
But I must say it's nice to
see some old faces back here and that some people can set aside
differences and get on. Contrary to what you would think if you believed
the member numbers of some groups, there's about 100 POTA fans in the
world....it' s a shame to split these into SUB
groups!

Thanks for addressing the issue
but I was under the impression you were saying I
had ripped you off of money
but if you simply didn't like something you read
than I don't see the reason to cut me down
However I do agree you are entitled to your own
opinion so if you didn't personally like than that is fine
Can't please everyone !
But if you do know anything about fanzines they are
a compilation of whatever materials are compiled by fans etc.
I can only assemble what people send me or I
personaly write or collect
So if people want to criticize any fanzines
I always suggest that they help give some input to make it
better
thanks!

That’s OK Jeff – the dust has
settled now and life goes on.
Strangely enough, we are in a better house
now (albeit renting) and we have more expendable income, but we can’t get
a loan if there’s an emergency so it can get a bit hairy there.
I still have my day-job as they say, so it
could be a whole lot worse, but it has been a miserable time for us.
Thanks for your best wishes mate.

I worked all day to hand tie two strands of hair at a time for Zira's hairline. It was actually a human hair lace beard, but there was no way it could have been combed and blended into the main wig
without the augmentation of the additional hair. Thanks very much to Tom Trubalcava's explanations, I was able to forge ahead.
Here are some photos.
The beard around her bottom jawline is just temporary. It will still need to be cut and trimmed.

Here are photos of my wig before and after styling. I had to give it a little haircut. It is sitting on a latex mask that I purchased from Matt Sotis. The latex mask helps keep the wig from falling
off the mannequin head because I don't have any toupee tape at the moment, and helps me imagine how Zira will look. She is getting there!!
Jessica.
Still working on hairing up the additional hair pieces I bought. I want to complete those this weekend so that I could have the next two weeks adding detail/paint to my
Zira mask.

Actually I think they let her get away with not
having to wear the chin piece and the contacts

You wouldn't find many of her caliber who would wear

Here's that quote again about screwing up the
females. Boy did they ever! Lisa Marie's Nova looks like she's dipping
some chaw when she closes her mouth over those teeth.
The makeup for the male apes of the various
species was superb: that for the females while technically as brilliant was
marred by design compromises (eyebrows? hairstyles? lips?): they do not look as
if they belong in the same movie. In one interview Rick Baker, speaking of Ari,
admitted the risk:
Tim said he wanted her to be attractive to a human male.
I told him, that's going to be tough, because if you're just looking at a
chimp's face, it's really hard to tell a female from a male, and some of them
are hideously ugly . . . Trying to humanize her would only make matters worse –
it would make her even more grotesque, like a freak human.

should keep these views of the forum , unless it has affected many
members after the person has tried to sort it out .
however i have never bought any of your publications , but personally
anyone who puts the time and effort into a production like this then
i think takes dedication .
Long may it continue and all the best from a P.O.T.A's fan ( without

That's true, but without him,

And if it did, Nova would have

Actually I think they let her get away with not
having to wear the chin piece and the contacts
just to keep her. It wouldn't do to have a star walk.
You wouldn't find many of her caliber who would wear
it at all, no matter what concessions were made for comfort.

he helped the first movie and that’s great.
But I think he essentially screwed Beneath

Beneath, or a sequel, would have done fine

What I Love... And Hate
Feb 7 2009
By Shane Richie, Ex-Eastender And Star Of Minder
TV: I love QI - I'm a big fan of Stephen Fry. I tape those when
they're shown on Dave, and I'll watch the new series. I'd love to be
on it but I don't know if I have the bottle.
You have to be very sharp on that show and I'm not as sharp as I like
to think. I hate bad children's TV. I've become a connoisseur of
kids' TV because of my two year old and, unless it lives up to Lazy
Town, everything is bad.
FILM: My favourite movie is the original Planet of the Apes. I've got
a massive collection of memorabilia from it. The wagon from the film,
that they threw Charlton Heston into, is in my front garden. And in
my office I've got a seven-foot gorilla with original prosthetics and
clothes. There-make didn't work for me.
HOLIDAY: We've just got back from Lanzarote and had a ball. Everyone
kept going on about it being Lanza-grotty but the whole family went
and we had a fantastic time. We love New York, and the Maldives takes
some beating. I'm also a Disney World fan. I was disappointed by the
Bahamas.
FOOD: I really love shepherd's pie. My mum-in-law does the best pie
ever. I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of red cabbage. <.html

.htmlI have been reading your info about Heston and the fact he dominated
the film and if it would have gone better or worse without him.
One thing i would like to make a point about if it wasn't for Heston
and Robinson doing the screen tests then i'm sure it would never have
been made at all.
Fox where very un-sure if the makup could or would be convincing
enough, so we owe these dedicated actors and the make-up artists our
thanks for starters.
They needed big name's to push the film otherwise we would now be
looking at P.O.T.A's has a B movie.
I dont need to mention all the names of all that where in the film
but they had a long history of film and theatre behind them.
When it came to the follow up they didn't need Heston he had already
left his mark after all he was the leading role???
The script writers could have wrote when Brent eventually came face
to face with bright eyes he could have seen him dead, there are lots
of ways the writers could have taken it( but they wanted him in it ).
The problem which came about in the follow up films in my opionion
was the reduced budget and less for every one that followed.

It's been said that in Hollywood, there is a short list for
everything - even if it changes hourly. But on the short list of
decorators is one venerable name that has been there for decades:
Waldo Fernandez, who has just listed his Beverly Hills home at
$10,995,000.
The walled 1926 Mediterranean has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms
in about 7,200 square feet. It was completely remodeled by Fernandez
with his trademark attention to detail and includes high ceilings in
the living room, a gourmet kitchen with breakfast area, a formal
dining room, a den-media room and an open family room. French doors
lead to the lush gardens, swimming pool, outdoor fireplace and tennis
court.
Fernandez was the mastermind behind the face-lift of the Beverly
Hills Hotel.
The Cuban-born Fernandez got his start as a set designer on "Doctor
Dolittle" and "Planet of the Apes" and has worked for Elizabeth
Taylor, Sean Connery, Goldie Hawn, Jennifer Aniston and other
celebrities. <.html

have not been dependednt upon HESTON. And they should NOT have let
him, a mere actor, dictate such a critical thing as to avoid the making
of any sequels.
I mean who the hell did he think he was?
That's the action of a meglomaniacal control freak!

follow up if Heston had his way.
But it did and he must have mellowed with time to appear in that
remake in 2001??

I agree its always frustrating for the buyer if the
transaction doesnt go smoothly.
I used to try to keep dozens of copies of every
POTA magazine and comic in stock
but as you know its hard to keep a consistent even
count of inventory for every single issue
so if sales were strong and quick i might run out
of something super quick
anyways I realize that doesnt help you out so I'm
sorry for that !
*** In James' defense, if his dealings with you were like the
one I had with you, I can see his being mad... I mean collecting money
for a set of comics you sold and didn't even have all of them in stock at that
time of selling them? Seriously, do you think that's a good way to do
business? ***

I don't know you but have just been reading about the complaints that

should keep these views of the forum , unless it has affected many

Cougar I agree completely its time we really hunt
these people out
Its amazing how old everyone involved in the
movie
Its not like movies these days where the cast is
all good looking and 25
Almost the entire cast and crew of POTA was between
40 and 65 at the time
*** Personally, I like reading the stuff from the creative teams
involved... It shows that a lot more went into making those films than people
think and it shows all they went thru to get it done...
As for who's left to interview from PLANET: How about Lou Wagner,
stuntman and TV series extra Eldon Burke, William Creber & Felix
Silla to name a few... Plus more "behind the scenes" types, and hell, they
could even interview Heston's kids... they were on set and I'm sure they could
offer up some cool photos and stories... ***
