Okay, I've just read the entry and its accompanying note and I'm sorry but I am now totally bamboozled. It had been stated here in a previous post by Dave Ballard that your book is all-inclusive but surely then it isn't?
I personally would have thought that one of the most important things to be included would be the original book that everything else was based on wouldn't it?

Manga is a popular Japanese comic-book artform. Basically, in manga, everyone looks like the Campbell Soup kids. Think Speed Racer, or other anime-style drawing--that' s how manga tends to be drawn as well. (I'm over-simplifying, as I'm sure any manga fan has already figured out, as I'm not a manga fan and know no more about the genre than what I just typed.)

I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my reply. Here's what I originally typed: Sure, the book's important--and it's mentioned on the timeline.

Yes you have mentioned Boulle's book but you haven't included anything that actually happened in it on the timeline which is what I was getting at.
You state in your notes to that last entry, which gives a brief synopsis of the book: "Rather than breakdown its events, I am treating it as a fictional story told within the Apes mythos - a recounting of Taylor's adventures, but with his name and other details altered."
I suppose it must just be me but I don't understand that reasoning. If it was just a way to say that, yes Boulle's book is included on the timeline then it seems like a bit of a cop-out to me, sorry.

A while back, the POTA group flattered us (yet again) through imitation and declared a weekly comic strip.

Dan Veranet (spelling) did the art and I am not 100% sure if it was just Terry Hoknes or if he was joined in writing the script.  Terry, can you tell us more?

Anyway, they never got very many strips completed.  It’s a bugger of a job and a real shame because it looked fairly good.

About a year back Terry asked Neil if he could give it a go.

Neil – could you show us a bit mate?

    .html
A few months ago I attended an SF convention in Montreal where I
picked up an Icarus lapel pin for $10. The dealer specialized in
Science Fiction related pins. I asked the guy if he had a website
where I could direct other interested POTA fans. He did but the Icarus
was not one of the pins listed on the site.
It's taken me a number of months to track down the guy to see if he
was still selling the pins. He no longer maintains the site, but
provided me with the information on how to order the pins and gave me
request forms and images of the pin to pass on.

    I've put these online here:http://web.ncf.ca/ev001/icarus/Icarus.html"

Most of the required information is in the ads already, but if you
have any questions please direct them to him
(twowackypinguys@...), and not me. Just to be clear, I'm only
relaying the information, and I am not involved in any way with the
seller other than passing on the what I think may interest some people
here. The price and handling charges are not set by me.

Keep in mind the fact that it's all in Canadian dollars, so for US
buyers, it's cheaper (with the current currency valuations). I figure
paying with the cheaper Paypal option will ring in at just over $10 US.

It does have a look of a cover about it but I'm not sure.

Unless it was centred with a border / window around it a logo would cover up quite a bit of the Apes at the top.

Here's another costuming opportunity in Santa Clara, California, Memorial Day Weekend. We will be there Saturday, May 23. Go to Baycon.org for details. It's only one hour's drive from my house.

Anybody want to go ape with me? It's closer than the San Francisco Wondercon in February 2010!!

My sister says she will take me. My husband says I am not allowed to spend the night, but my sister promises to drive me down there so I won't risk the chance of getting pulled over by a cop when in full costume. We'll have a girl's day out that day...and go out to a wonderful restaurant for dinner before heading home and make a big scene somewhere crowded.

Here's another costuming opportunity in Santa Clara , California , Memorial Day Weekend.

Here is the original artwork by Dan Vernaet done in 2004
Neil did a new version in 2008
They are totally unique from each other but I love both of them

Neither artist has time to do a complete project
so at this point a new artist is still needed for this project to ever see light

The goal was to find someone who could draw one of these panel/strips per week or bi-weekly

Well Neil how's your schedule these days?
Neil's artwork looks amazing but I also know that people have to be in the mood and relaxed to tackle a project

I'd like to see more too - how many did each artist complete?
But doesn't Neil have a lot on his plate already with 'Begins', etc? Maybe he'll get sick of drawing talking monkeys and pack it all in. Maybe he'll start drawing comics about talking horses or something instead!

Sure would like to see more.

How much of this has been scripted out? We can all understand what
that initial strip is all about, but where does it go from there? Is
this all about the fallout that Zira and Cornelius had to deal with
immediately after the council meeting? Or is it supposed to go
somewhere else completely (i.e. new characters).

Sometimes I think that we are too close to the main characters of the
movie and try to make all of POTA revolve around them. But as "Beware
the Beast" and "Terror" proved, entirely new characters and situations
        can be just as rewarding.

        Hi Jess,
Suggestion if people are to busy what you could do is put dvd in computer of the series at beginning of each episope gorilla on horse back on top of hill . when it gets to it just pause and scetch around the silhoette .
        Well ???
Let me know if it works for you .
You could also do it in two colours if you put the setting sun behind it
My size t-shirt is XXL expect one in post :)

Neil, the ForumoftheApes needs your help.  We need a gorilla on horseback holding a rifle up in the air, in b/w for t-shirts ASAP...and we lack the artistic ability.  It could just be a silhouette!  Can you help?

So Terry who actually wrote the script? And to what extent did James and
        Glen help?

This could be a great opportunity to build a bridge.

On Monday, March 16 (5 PM Pacific) Home Theater Forum will have a live internet chat with Schawn Belston, a Fox restorationist. The reason is because of the new Blu-Ray of "The Robe", but I'm sure he can give details on how Fox does their movies in general. I'm not sure if he worked on POTA specifically. But it might be informative to throw out a question or just read the transcript the next day. HTF's chats are usually worth it and they don't come along often anymore.

OK – I’m collecting them now and getting some very low (AND VERY HIGH!) prices.

Anyone have a complete checklist including the specials and how these differ?

Here is a closeup of my painted Carsia. I still need to make her skin tone a couple of shades darker. Wish my camera took better shots. Her pupils are amazing.

There was an Aussie selling cheap gorillas last year. He must have bought by the case. You just have to be patient. Gorillas are the hardest to come by.

$18 is a GREAT price! You won't see that in the states...although I have seen Cornelius and Zira for $19. Stock up on gorillas so you can have a garrison.
