She's still a work in progress but I'm happy with the way her eyes turned out. Maybe I should have made Carsia's eyes a lighter green...but I'm going to leave well enough alone. Wish my camera
didn't suck so much.
As soon as I finish painting her up, I'm going to tackle painting my Virgil and see how it goes. What color were Virgil's eyes?

I like to play with my dollies. I like Sideshow's articulation, and it's fun to photograph them. When the weather turns better, I'm taking more photos of Zira and Cornelius outdoors. They will have
a lot of adventures about town.

$18 is a GREAT price! You won't see that in the states...although I have seen Cornelius and Zira for $19. Stock up on gorillas so you can have a garrison.

Most of my monkeys are naked. I think they're happier that
way.
I like to play with my dollies. I like Sideshow's articulation,
and it's fun to photograph them. When the weather turns better, I'm
taking more photos of Zira and Cornelius outdoors. They will have a lot
of adventures about town.

$18 is a GREAT price! You won't see that in the
states...although I have seen Cornelius and Zira for $19. Stock up on
gorillas so you can have a garrison.

this but he was considering completing them if nobody else volunteered.
Thankfully, someone has volunteered and
Neil and I can continue with BEGINS.
Neil sent me the coloured p13 yesterday so
we are not far from having p 1-17 completely done.
Here’s a look – this page is
just too got to not share.
Comments appreciated! I think this is my
fave page so far (but with Neil that seems to happen every time he send me
something new – it just keeps getting better!).

Everyone, including Ty Templeton and Mike

As soon as we have the 3 parts of BEGINS

Mike, if you act the "bully" and kick T -- or anybody else -- off the DG just because you don't like what they have to say, then I'll deem the DG the same sort as the
original POTA group. I stopped posting over there because they censored me. They had the power to censor, and they used it, and I left 'em to post at a group that supposedly didn't and WOULDN'T emulate them.
I wonder who these "people" are who "request" that you "remove" T from the group. Hmmm... they're "very important POTA personalities" we're told. I wonder how THEY would
feel if they were to be "removed" due to somebody not liking them, or what they have to say. The "D" in POTADG is supposed to stand for Discussion. If somebody says something somebody else
doesn't like, does that mean we have to have a Bailiff to "gag the animal"? Am I "endangering my career" here in Pota-Land by "defending" T? Hell, I've had my own differences with
him in the past, but like a famous American once said: "I may disagree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
Zaius had the power to have Taylor emasculated and lobotomized -- Taylor admitted it. And YOU, Mike, have the power to ban T from this group. Do you threaten to do so out of some kind of FEAR, I wonder? Or is it just
bullying arrogance?
Whatever it is, if you act on your threat, I'll leave this group in a heartbeat. I'll post over at the couple other POTA Yahoo groups where they don't ban members -- like the one I started, and haven't
done much with because THIS group promised to be unlike the old group.
Anybody who leaves a group because they don't like what somebody else had to say, well, good riddance. They should be able to "agree to disagree" without getting disagreeable. Hell, plenty of people here
disagree with some of the opinions I present, and do I leave in a huff over that? No. I don't mind if people disagree with me. It's when they start trying to pariah-tize those they especially don't agree
with, THEN it becomes nothing but a mob-rule or dictatorship.
To your credit, Mike, you've "refused" to remove T from the group. Good for you. I approve. But now you're threatening to be a "bully" [your word], and accusing T of being a bully. Did T ever
kick anybody out of the group, or even threaten such? It seems to me that he has only voiced his own opinion and been disagreed with. If that is grounds for being kicked out, and if he gets kicked out, then I won't
wait for it to happen to me. I'll leave... "with no regrets" (as Taylor says).

.html *** Hoo boy...
If this gets me kicked outta the DG, then so be it. I'm just about to the point of exiting-stage-left anyway.
First off: Neil, to take a PORTION of one sentence I wrote regarding the conflict in Ireland OUT OF CONTEXT so as to make it SEEM as if I actually DO approve of certain vicious acts of violence committed by the IRA...
that's just fucking bullshit. Let me draw a POTA comparison, to make it "on-topic".
In "THE TYRANT" we have two human farmers who are being oppressed by the "tyrant" Aboro, Janor and Mikal. The gorillas have GUNS and the peasant humans DON'T. The humans attempt to resist -- Mikal
taking part in an act of retribution with Virdon & Burke against the grain-stealing gorillas... and he winds up getting killed.
Janor vows to kill Aboro if the Fugitives don't get justice for his murdered brother.
As a result of the actions of the Fugitives, lo and behold they actually DO get justice for Mikal -- so that Janor can go on living his life without resorting to killing somebody [Aboro].
But what would've happened if those Fugitives hadn't been around? The grain would've been stolen. Mikal would've gone off and done something "foolish" -- like stick up for his rights. The
gorillas would've killed him, just the same. And then Janor would've sought revenge for his brother's death.
AND HE WOULD'VE BEEN JUSTIFIED. If Janor, in such circumstances, had ended the lives of Aboro and his thugs, it would've been JUSTICE. Oppressed peoples have a RIGHT to defend themselves against tyranny, even if
that includes waging war, in DEFENSE of self.
Every Veterans Day we (in America) honor those still-living soldiers who have fought -- and KILLED -- the enemies of our nation. Hell, we even honor them if the "enemy" nations hadn't even attacked us --
like Vietnam and Iraq! The politicians who got us into those "police actions" deserve opprobrium, but not the soldiers who couldn't pick-and-choose which conflict to fight in -- unless they were so off-put
by it that they became a "conscientious objector".
Every Memorial Day we honor those soldiers who lost their lives -- and, in certain instances, GAVE their lives -- while FIGHTING and KILLING the Enemy.
Mike, YOU point out that "The IRA became extremists and killed innocent people." True. They BECAME extremists. I don't approve of such extremism, when it devolves into killing innocent people.
That is to say, I don't GENERALLY approve of it. But let us remember that the Allies won WORLD WAR TWO because in addition to fire-bombing Tokyo (etc) we dropped nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It had become a war
of attrition, where CIVILIAN TARGETS were purposely bombed, in order to FORCE the Japanese to an unconditional surrender -- because they WEREN'T going to surrender, due to their fanatical devotion to an Emperor they
believed to be a GOD.
Am I happy that Japanese civilians were killed by Allied bombing? OF COURSE NOT! Nor am I happy with how the Japanese treated prisoners of war -- go watch a documentary about the Bataan Death March to see what I'm
talking about. Chuck Heston had a thing or two to say about Truman's decision to drop the Bomb -- Chuck might very well have died in a full-on invasion of Japan, since they estimated that the death toll of both
Allies and Japanese would've been far far higher in an invasion, rather than with the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A few tens of thousands were killed by our use of nukes... as weighed against a death-toll in
the MILLIONS that would otherwise have happened in an invasion.
Yet there are those who say that dropping the Bomb was a "war crime". In my opinion, it was the lesser of two evils. And it would've been MORE evil to do nothing and allow Japan to go on committing their
atrocities, pursuing their goal of conquering neighbouring nations (leading to incidents like the Rape of Nanking).
As for Neil's relatives who've served in Northern Ireland, well, I'm sure they have opinions regarding UK policy and the enforcement of it by the military. I have just this to ask: WHOSE COUNTRY IS IT?
Historically -- and by that I mean going back THOUSANDS of years -- Ireland "belongs" to the Irish. The English should never have fucked around trying to conquer them. Every people living their lives, minding
their own business, who then get attacked & invaded and are put into subjection have a very real, very HUMAN sense of being WRONGED. And it is natural to resent it. What the English began to do to Ireland, many hundreds
of years ago, was morally equivalent to RAPE and CHILD ABUSE.
The same could be said about England's treatment of Scotland, by the way. Was William Wallace a "terrorist" for fighting back against the English and against those Scots who collaborated with them? I'm
sure the English thought of Wallace as a "terrorist" -- How DARE he fight back!
Come to think of it, the American Revolution was perceived by some in England as a "terrorist" movement. Back then, professional armies lined up in neat little rows like a marching band -- the film "BARRY
LYNDON" portrays this excellently. But the colonials -- most of them rural farmboys -- would shoot at soldiers from behind trees and then go running... not giving the professional soldiers in the King's Army a
chance to retaliate effectively.
Because the oppressed colonial "rebels" were in it to win it. It wasn't a fucking game to them. They used "injun" tactics that the English considered "savage".
Of course, the British weren't so "civil" in their war-making. They used German Hessian mercenaries, who were notorious for their savagery, for slaughtering innocent people, noncombatants.
Do I like it when innocent people are killed? No. But, in the case of Ireland, the reason that they BECAME extremists is due, in part, to the fact that NOTHING ELSE WAS WORKING. The Irish weren't and aren't any
better or worse than any other group (ethnic or otherwise) of human beings. But things were a hell of a lot better in Ireland when they weren't being oppressed by foreigners. Unfortunately for them, the kings of
England wanted also to be kings of ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, IRELAND, and FRANCE, all-in-one. That whole "divine right of kings" bullshit that kept European countries at each others' throats throughout the entire
goddamned Middle Ages and into the Renaissance, and then had its modern-day resurgence in Nazism: "Today Europe... tomorrow the World!"
I love my country, but I'm ashamed of the fact that our leaders got us embroiled in the Vietnam conflict. What Johnson & Nixon did there, in escalating the bloodshed, was unforgivable. The anti-war movement
didn't begin in Berkeley (as some would like to believe), but was instigated by veterans of the war itself, and by soldiers who were "in country" who knew that our nation's policies were as
indefensible as those of the Nazis. Vietnam never attacked America, as Japan did at Pearl Harbor. Yet we fought a war over there that killed many a civilian. And the Viet Cong fought back using tactics that every
American soldier sure considered to be "terror" -- yet those tactics were used because they were fighting for their country against Invaders who had no fucking business being there. And those tactics worked.
We KNOW they worked because the U.S. response was to napalm entire tracts of land, and to use Agent Orange. I'm pretty confident in believing that the Vietnamese who were subjected to that thought of the Americans
as "terrorists". Those weren't exactly "surgical strikes" were they?
Like Taylor at the start of PLANET, I "hope" that the Human Race one day will stop making war against his own brother. If people would just live-and-let-live, mind their own fucking business, and not cause any
trouble by invading their neighbouring countries, then things would be a hell of a lot better.
But that's not human nature, is it? That's the message of PLANET OF THE APES... that our own nature conspires to destroy us. Humanity "must be a warlike creature who gives battle to everything around him --
even himself!" Whether it's a "policy" of some government to impose itself upon some other nation, prompting a retaliation which prompts a "response" which leads to a long-term CONFLICT...
or just one person "coveting" his neighbour's goods and then attempting to steal the loot, or to murder the guy whose stuff he wants... we are savages with a thin veneer of civilization. Anthropologists
now know that this savage tendency to commit War goes back MILLIONS of years: they know this because they've discovered that Chimpanzee tribes wage war on other chimp tribes. Oh, maybe chimps only RECENTLY
"evolved" the "gene" for making War... but chances are Chimps AND Humans make war because our common ancestor made war -- and that common ancestor lived about 5 million years ago.
Sean Connery wants Scotland to be independent from the UK, out from under-the-thumb of England. I don't know if the majority of Scots agree with him, but I suspect they do. Why can't the government of England be
content with governing just ENGLAND? Why can't they let their oldest "colonial possessions" go, as they did with India? Is it that the English have a beloved "tradition" of exploiting Ireland and
Scotland, and to give it up would be like giving up Christmas?
I don't like it when the IRA kills innocent people. I don't like it that England began oppressing them centuries ago, and is still imposing a presence there, prompting a response by those who just want the
English to get the fuck out of Ireland. I'm sure there are those in Ireland who look at the history of the U.S.A. and wish that THEY had had the same outcome. America won its Independence. When the British tried to
re-take their once-colonies in the War of 1812, they failed, and America remained an independent republic. I think that the Irish, deep down, wish they could have independence from England, and wish that their struggles
would've had success like America had. But they didn't -- probably because they're not far enough away. There's no fucking OCEAN separating Ireland from the isle of Britain. And Ireland didn't have a
superpower like France to help them, as America did during the Revolutionary War.
Do I approve of "extremism" and the killing of innocent people? No. I sure wish the majority of GOVERNMENTS had such virtues. In the last administration, we had the Bush Doctrine put forth to justify
PRE-EMPTIVE WAR in order to "prevent" any possible "terrorist" attacks... and this was used to justify invading Iraq and killing God knows HOW many truly innocent Iraqi civilians. Under George W.
Bush, the U.S.A. became the moral equivalent of the IRA. And I'm ashamed of that. I wish more of my fellow voters would've chosen a better man for President. Too often, it's a choice between two evils, the
lesser being not-so-much better than the worse-of-two.
I'm disgusted with both the Republicans and the Democrats. All the major problems in America were caused by actions committed by both wings, Left and Right. The problem is POWER: it CORRUPTS. And GOVERNMENT IS POWER.
That's why Tom Paine said that it's best -- if we NEED to have government -- for it to be as SMALL as possible.
The U.S. Constitution is supposed to keep government from becoming too powerful. We aren't supposed to wage wars unless the Congress DECLARES war. But we haven't "declared" war since World War Two. Yet
we've FOUGHT wars -- or, excuse me, "police actions". And, in the case of Iraq, America didn't "declare" war -- but our Congress voted to give the "coalition" the authority to
enforce a U.N. resolution... which amounted to invading a country and waging a war there which not only toppled Saddam's regime, but also turned that entire area into a hellhole. And the civilians there are
considered "collateral damage".
Is there an answer to the Problem? Can the human race be reformed, or will we always be "jungle creatures" (as Eleonore of Aquitaine says of us in "THE LION IN WINTER") at each other's throats for
all eternity?
There are no easy answers in PLANET OF THE APES. That's why it's such a magnificent film (and series). Armando said that "We must love one another or DIE." Because we'll KILL each other, otherwise.
It's in our nature. I wish it wasn't, but it's THERE.
If the English don't like what some in the IRA do, maybe they should mind their own business and get the fuck out of Ireland. Let the English stay in England, the Irish stay in Ireland, and they can both be good
neighbours to each other, rather than one being an Occupier and the other being Occupied. If the American people had and have the right for Self-Governance, then surely the Irish do, too. Every individual has the right
to go about his/her life without some government -- be it their own or some foreign one -- interfering with them. When any government DOES interfere -- either with their own people's rights or with the rights of
other people living in other nations -- it should expect a response they might not like.
And they'll probably always call ANY response "terrorism". And that is an insult to somebody who is a genuine victim of true terrorism.
Patrick
P.S. No, Mr. Haydon. You said: "next you will be telling me that the talaban are atheists and they have the same beliefs, same as the IRA.
Sorry but IRA where terrorists same goes for the talaban, loose talk about something you have no idea about gets people killed."
The Taliban are religious fanatics oppressing not only their own people, but they provided Al-Qaeda with support (training camps) for their worldwide jihad against their "infidel" enemies -- the U.S.A., Israel,
etc. The war against the Taliban in Afghanistan is justified, unlike the Iraq War. For siding with Bin Laden, the Taliban deserve to be wiped out. If Iraq had had anything to do with 9/11, then I'd approve of
cleaning their clocks, too... but they DIDN'T have anything to do with 9/11.
The Taliban have a tactic whereby they throw acid in the face of any female Afghani who dares go around not covered up in a burqa. THAT is terrorism. Do the Irish in the IRA do that, or anything even remotely LIKE that?
Perhaps some members of the IRA do. But certainly not all.
And plenty of people are already getting killed over the question of Irish independence -- on BOTH sides. My so-called "loose talk" isn't adding to the damned body-count! There aren't any IRA
sympathizers haunting the POTADG, reading my posts, and then saying: "Hey! That PLANET OF THE APES fan criticizes English occupation of Ireland... LET'S GO MURDER A BUNCH OF PEOPLE!" That's just
absurd.

There is only one word required for that long speel , but i will say it in five words ( You dont half talk shit )
How can you keep comparing real events with the planet of the apes saga ( your a prat this is a film with actors and not real apes )
Give Ireland back?
Northern Ireland has just under half english businesses , and has two irish friends who live hear have told me , if we pulled out then the country would go back fifty years.
I have worked in Scotland many times and even though they are proad of being scotish they are just has proad of being part of the british empire.
When you talk about people who kill in cold blood , sometimes targeting anyone who gets in the way they are no differant whatever the cause.
I.R.A , Taliban , Tamel Tigers the list is endless!!!!
Your very stupid in lots of your comments , yes your entitled to your views but you will never be a diplomat and i guess you never served your country?
That tells a lot.

Like Michael has
already said we are not in the habit of kicking people out of the
group just because of their points of view, no matter how much we
disagree with them.
Also, I'm not
going to engage in any more of this s**t out of respect to the families of those
murdered by the 'real IRA' last week.
Neil T. Foster
*** Hoo boy...
If this gets me kicked outta the DG, then so be it.
I'm just about to the point of exiting-stage- left anyway.
First
off: Neil, to take a PORTION of one sentence I wrote regarding the conflict in
Ireland OUT OF CONTEXT so as to make it SEEM as if I actually DO approve of
certain vicious acts of violence committed by the IRA... that's just fucking
bullshit. Let me draw a POTA comparison, to make it "on-topic".
In "THE
TYRANT" we have two human farmers who are being oppressed by the "tyrant"
Aboro, Janor and Mikal. The gorillas have GUNS and the peasant humans DON'T.
The humans attempt to resist -- Mikal taking part in an act of retribution
with Virdon & Burke against the grain-stealing gorillas... and he winds up
getting killed.
Janor vows to kill Aboro if the Fugitives don't get
justice for his murdered brother.
As a result of the actions of the
Fugitives, lo and behold they actually DO get justice for Mikal -- so that
Janor can go on living his life without resorting to killing somebody
[Aboro].
But what would've happened if those Fugitives hadn't been
around? The grain would've been stolen. Mikal would've gone off and done
something "foolish" -- like stick up for his rights. The gorillas would've
killed him, just the same. And then Janor would've sought revenge for his
brother's death.
AND HE WOULD'VE BEEN JUSTIFIED. If Janor, in such
circumstances, had ended the lives of Aboro and his thugs, it would've been
JUSTICE. Oppressed peoples have a RIGHT to defend themselves against tyranny,
even if that includes waging war, in DEFENSE of self.
Every Veterans
Day we (in America) honor those still-living soldiers who have fought -- and
KILLED -- the enemies of our nation. Hell, we even honor them if the "enemy"
nations hadn't even attacked us -- like Vietnam and Iraq! The politicians who
got us into those "police actions" deserve opprobrium, but not the soldiers
who couldn't pick-and-choose which conflict to fight in -- unless they were so
off-put by it that they became a "conscientious objector".
Every
Memorial Day we honor those soldiers who lost their lives -- and, in certain
instances, GAVE their lives -- while FIGHTING and KILLING the Enemy.
Mike, YOU point out that "The IRA became extremists and killed
innocent people." True. They BECAME extremists. I don't approve of such
extremism, when it devolves into killing innocent people.
That is to
say, I don't GENERALLY approve of it. But let us remember that the Allies won
WORLD WAR TWO because in addition to fire-bombing Tokyo (etc) we dropped nukes
on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It had become a war of attrition, where CIVILIAN
TARGETS were purposely bombed, in order to FORCE the Japanese to an
unconditional surrender -- because they WEREN'T going to surrender, due to
their fanatical devotion to an Emperor they believed to be a GOD.
Am I
happy that Japanese civilians were killed by Allied bombing? OF COURSE NOT!
Nor am I happy with how the Japanese treated prisoners of war -- go watch a
documentary about the Bataan Death March to see what I'm talking about. Chuck
Heston had a thing or two to say about Truman's decision to drop the Bomb --
Chuck might very well have died in a full-on invasion of Japan, since they
estimated that the death toll of both Allies and Japanese would've been far
far higher in an invasion, rather than with the nuking of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. A few tens of thousands were killed by our use of nukes... as
weighed against a death-toll in the MILLIONS that would otherwise have
happened in an invasion.
Yet there are those who say that dropping the
Bomb was a "war crime". In my opinion, it was the lesser of two evils. And it
would've been MORE evil to do nothing and allow Japan to go on committing
their atrocities, pursuing their goal of conquering neighbouring nations
(leading to incidents like the Rape of Nanking).
As for Neil's
relatives who've served in Northern Ireland, well, I'm sure they have opinions
regarding UK policy and the enforcement of it by the military. I have just
this to ask: WHOSE COUNTRY IS IT? Historically -- and by that I mean going
back THOUSANDS of years -- Ireland "belongs" to the Irish. The English should
never have fucked around trying to conquer them. Every people living their
lives, minding their own business, who then get attacked & invaded and are
put into subjection have a very real, very HUMAN sense of being WRONGED. And
it is natural to resent it. What the English began to do to Ireland, many
hundreds of years ago, was morally equivalent to RAPE and CHILD ABUSE.
The same could be said about England's treatment of Scotland, by the
way. Was William Wallace a "terrorist" for fighting back against the English
and against those Scots who collaborated with them? I'm sure the English
thought of Wallace as a "terrorist" -- How DARE he fight back!
Come to
think of it, the American Revolution was perceived by some in England as a
"terrorist" movement. Back then, professional armies lined up in neat little
rows like a marching band -- the film "BARRY LYNDON" portrays this
excellently. But the colonials -- most of them rural farmboys -- would shoot
at soldiers from behind trees and then go running... not giving the
professional soldiers in the King's Army a chance to retaliate effectively.
Because the oppressed colonial "rebels" were in it to win it. It
wasn't a fucking game to them. They used "injun" tactics that the English
considered "savage".
Of course, the British weren't so "civil" in
their war-making. They used German Hessian mercenaries, who were notorious for
their savagery, for slaughtering innocent people, noncombatants.
Do I
like it when innocent people are killed? No. But, in the case of Ireland, the
reason that they BECAME extremists is due, in part, to the fact that NOTHING
ELSE WAS WORKING. The Irish weren't and aren't any better or worse than any
other group (ethnic or otherwise) of human beings. But things were a hell of a
lot better in Ireland when they weren't being oppressed by foreigners.
Unfortunately for them, the kings of England wanted also to be kings of
ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, IRELAND, and FRANCE, all-in-one. That whole "divine right
of kings" bullshit that kept European countries at each others' throats
throughout the entire goddamned Middle Ages and into the Renaissance, and then
had its modern-day resurgence in Nazism: "Today Europe... tomorrow the
World!"
I love my country, but I'm ashamed of the fact that our leaders
got us embroiled in the Vietnam conflict. What Johnson & Nixon did there,
in escalating the bloodshed, was unforgivable. The anti-war movement didn't
begin in Berkeley (as some would like to believe), but was instigated by
veterans of the war itself, and by soldiers who were "in country" who knew
that our nation's policies were as indefensible as those of the Nazis. Vietnam
never attacked America, as Japan did at Pearl Harbor. Yet we fought a war over
there that killed many a civilian. And the Viet Cong fought back using tactics
that every American soldier sure considered to be "terror" -- yet those
tactics were used because they were fighting for their country against
Invaders who had no fucking business being there. And those tactics worked. We
KNOW they worked because the U.S. response was to napalm entire tracts of
land, and to use Agent Orange. I'm pretty confident in believing that the
Vietnamese who were subjected to that thought of the Americans as
"terrorists" . Those weren't exactly "surgical strikes" were
they?
Like Taylor at the start of PLANET, I "hope" that the Human Race
one day will stop making war against his own brother. If people would just
live-and-let- live, mind their own fucking business, and not cause any
trouble by invading their neighbouring countries, then things would be a hell
of a lot better.
But that's not human nature, is it? That's the
message of PLANET OF THE APES... that our own nature conspires to destroy us.
Humanity "must be a warlike creature who gives battle to everything around him
-- even himself!" Whether it's a "policy" of some government to impose itself
upon some other nation, prompting a retaliation which prompts a "response"
which leads to a long-term CONFLICT... or just one person "coveting" his
neighbour's goods and then attempting to steal the loot, or to murder the guy

There are no easy answers in PLANET OF THE APES. That's why
it's such a magnificent film (and series). Armando said that "We must love one
another or DIE." Because we'll KILL each other, otherwise. It's in our nature.
I wish it wasn't, but it's THERE.
If the English don't like what some
in the IRA do, maybe they should mind their own business and get the fuck out
of Ireland. Let the English stay in England, the Irish stay in Ireland, and
they can both be good neighbours to each other, rather than one being an

The Taliban are religious fanatics oppressing not only their

Good news! I was able to find the plastic inserts I was looking for. I don't have the fabric yet, but I can now start to look for the perfect fabric. The polyvinyl is actually an artist portfolio in bright
blue. I'm going to cut it up and use it for holding up the shape of the backpack. This was marked down from $20.99 to $10.99. I saw something like this last week at another store two weeks ago, but it was
going to be around $50 for something I was going to cut up. That was too rich for my blood, so this works perfectly.

If I had kicked him of it would have been
because he was shitting over the assumed rights of people in the group not to
have to put up with his hostile, off topic posts. Not because I disagree.
A while back I attempted to remove dead
wood from the group and I asked for people to “role call” if they
wanted to stay on the group. This didn’t work because quite a few “innocents”
were on vacation etc. so I won’t be doing that again.
SO it’s unlikely you would be booted

Terry set up a group for anyone who WANTS

allow others to have an opinion and refuse to open their minds enough to let
other opinions in.

*** Hoo
boy...
If this gets me kicked outta the DG, then so be it. I'm just about to the point
of exiting-stage- left anyway.
First off: Neil, to take a PORTION of one sentence I wrote regarding the
conflict in Ireland OUT OF CONTEXT so as to make it SEEM as if I actually DO
approve of certain vicious acts of violence committed by the IRA... that's just
fucking bullshit. Let me draw a POTA comparison, to make it
"on-topic".
In "THE TYRANT" we have two human farmers who are being oppressed by
the "tyrant" Aboro, Janor and Mikal. The gorillas have GUNS and the
peasant humans DON'T. The humans attempt to resist -- Mikal taking part in an
act of retribution with Virdon & Burke against the grain-stealing
gorillas... and he winds up getting killed.
Janor vows to kill Aboro if the Fugitives don't get justice for his murdered
brother.
As a result of the actions of the Fugitives, lo and behold they actually DO get
justice for Mikal -- so that Janor can go on living his life without resorting
to killing somebody [Aboro].
But what would've happened if those Fugitives hadn't been around? The grain
would've been stolen. Mikal would've gone off and done something
"foolish" -- like stick up for his rights. The gorillas would've
killed him, just the same. And then Janor would've sought revenge for his
brother's death.
AND HE WOULD'VE BEEN JUSTIFIED. If Janor, in such circumstances, had ended the
lives of Aboro and his thugs, it would've been JUSTICE. Oppressed peoples have
a RIGHT to defend themselves against tyranny, even if that includes waging war,
in DEFENSE of self.
Every Veterans Day we (in America )
honor those still-living soldiers who have fought -- and KILLED -- the enemies
of our nation. Hell, we even honor them if the "enemy" nations hadn't
even attacked us -- like Vietnam
and Iraq !
The politicians who got us into those "police actions" deserve opprobrium,
but not the soldiers who couldn't pick-and-choose which conflict to fight in --
unless they were so off-put by it that they became a "conscientious
objector".
Every Memorial Day we honor those soldiers who lost their lives -- and, in
certain instances, GAVE their lives -- while FIGHTING and KILLING the Enemy.
Mike, YOU point out that "The IRA became extremists and killed innocent
people." True. They BECAME extremists. I don't approve of such extremism,
when it devolves into killing innocent people.
That is to say, I don't GENERALLY approve of it. But let us remember that the
Allies won WORLD WAR TWO because in addition to fire-bombing Tokyo
(etc) we dropped nukes on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki . It had become a
war of attrition, where CIVILIAN TARGETS were purposely bombed, in order to
FORCE the Japanese to an unconditional surrender -- because they WEREN'T going
to surrender, due to their fanatical devotion to an Emperor they believed to be
a GOD.
Am I happy that Japanese civilians were killed by Allied bombing? OF COURSE
NOT! Nor am I happy with how the Japanese treated prisoners of war -- go watch
a documentary about the Bataan Death March to see what I'm talking about. Chuck
Heston had a thing or two to say about Truman's decision to drop the Bomb --
Chuck might very well have died in a full-on invasion of Japan, since they
estimated that the death toll of both Allies and Japanese would've been far far
higher in an invasion, rather than with the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A
few tens of thousands were killed by our use of nukes... as weighed against a
death-toll in the MILLIONS that would otherwise have happened in an invasion.
Yet there are those who say that dropping the Bomb was a "war crime".
In my opinion, it was the lesser of two evils. And it would've been MORE evil
to do nothing and allow Japan
to go on committing their atrocities, pursuing their goal of conquering
neighbouring nations (leading to incidents like the Rape of Nanking).
As for Neil's relatives who've served in Northern
Ireland , well, I'm sure they have opinions regarding
UK policy and
the enforcement of it by the military. I have just this to ask: WHOSE COUNTRY
IS IT? Historically -- and by that I mean going back THOUSANDS of years --
Ireland
"belongs" to the Irish. The English should never have fucked around
trying to conquer them. Every people living their lives, minding their own
business, who then get attacked & invaded and are put into subjection have
a very real, very HUMAN sense of being WRONGED. And it is natural to resent it.
What the English began to do to Ireland ,
many hundreds of years ago, was morally equivalent to RAPE and CHILD ABUSE.
The same could be said about England 's
treatment of Scotland ,
by the way. Was William Wallace a "terrorist" for fighting back
against the English and against those Scots who collaborated with them? I'm
sure the English thought of Wallace as a "terrorist" -- How DARE he
fight back!
Come to think of it, the American Revolution was perceived by some in
England as a
"terrorist" movement. Back then, professional armies lined up in neat
little rows like a marching band -- the film "BARRY LYNDON" portrays
this excellently. But the colonials -- most of them rural farmboys -- would
shoot at soldiers from behind trees and then go running... not giving the
professional soldiers in the King's Army a chance to retaliate effectively.
Because the oppressed colonial "rebels" were in it to win it. It
wasn't a fucking game to them. They used "injun" tactics that the
English considered "savage".
Of course, the British weren't so "civil" in their war-making. They
used German Hessian mercenaries, who were notorious for their savagery, for
slaughtering innocent people, noncombatants.
Do I like it when innocent people are killed? No. But, in the case of
Ireland , the
reason that they BECAME extremists is due, in part, to the fact that NOTHING
ELSE WAS WORKING. The Irish weren't and aren't any better or worse than any
other group (ethnic or otherwise) of human beings. But things were a hell of a
lot better in Ireland
when they weren't being oppressed by foreigners. Unfortunately for them, the
kings of England wanted also
to be kings of ENGLAND ,
SCOTLAND , IRELAND ,
and FRANCE ,
all-in-one. That whole "divine right of kings" bullshit that kept
European countries at each others' throats throughout the entire goddamned
Middle Ages and into the Renaissance, and then had its modern-day resurgence in
Nazism: "Today Europe... tomorrow the World!"
I love my country, but I'm ashamed of the fact that our leaders got us
embroiled in the Vietnam
conflict. What Johnson & Nixon did there, in escalating the bloodshed, was
unforgivable. The anti-war movement didn't begin in
Berkeley (as some would like to believe), but
was instigated by veterans of the war itself, and by soldiers who were "in
country" who knew that our nation's policies were as indefensible as those
of the Nazis. Vietnam never
attacked America , as
Japan did at Pearl Harbor .
Yet we fought a war over there that killed many a civilian. And the Viet Cong
fought back using tactics that every American soldier sure considered to be
"terror" -- yet those tactics were used because they were fighting
for their country against Invaders who had no fucking business being there. And
those tactics worked. We KNOW they worked because the
U.S. response
was to napalm entire tracts of land, and to use Agent Orange. I'm pretty
confident in believing that the Vietnamese who were subjected to that thought
of the Americans as "terrorists" . Those weren't exactly
"surgical strikes" were they?
Like Taylor at
the start of PLANET, I "hope" that the Human Race one day will stop
making war against his own brother. If people would just live-and-let- live,
mind their own fucking business, and not cause any trouble by invading their neighbouring
countries, then things would be a hell of a lot better.
But that's not human nature, is it? That's the message of PLANET OF THE APES...
that our own nature conspires to destroy us. Humanity "must be a warlike
creature who gives battle to everything around him -- even himself!"
Whether it's a "policy" of some government to impose itself upon some
other nation, prompting a retaliation which prompts a "response"
which leads to a long-term CONFLICT... or just one person "coveting"
his neighbour's goods and then attempting to steal the loot, or to murder the
guy whose stuff he wants... we are savages with a thin veneer of civilization.
Anthropologists now know that this savage tendency to commit War goes back
MILLIONS of years: they know this because they've discovered that Chimpanzee
tribes wage war on other chimp tribes. Oh, maybe chimps only RECENTLY
"evolved" the "gene" for making War... but chances are
Chimps AND Humans make war because our common ancestor made war -- and that
common ancestor lived about 5 million years ago.
Sean Connery wants Scotland
to be independent from the UK ,
out from under-the-thumb of England .
I don't know if the majority of Scots agree with him, but I suspect they do.
Why can't the government of England
be content with governing just ENGLAND ?
Why can't they let their oldest "colonial possessions" go, as they
did with India ?
Is it that the English have a beloved "tradition" of exploiting
Ireland and
Scotland , and to give it up would
be like giving up Christmas?
I don't like it when the IRA kills innocent people. I don't like it that
England began oppressing them centuries ago, and
is still imposing a presence there, prompting a response by those who just want
the English to get the fuck out of
Ireland . I'm sure there are those
in Ireland who look at the
history of the U.S.A.
and wish that THEY had had the same outcome. America
won its Independence .
When the British tried to re-take their once-colonies in the War of 1812, they
failed, and America
remained an independent republic. I think that the Irish, deep down, wish they
could have independence from England ,
and wish that their struggles would've had success like
America had.
But they didn't -- probably because they're not far enough away. There's no
fucking OCEAN separating Ireland
from the isle of Britain .
And Ireland didn't have a
superpower like France to
help them, as America
did during the Revolutionary War.
Do I approve of "extremism" and the killing of innocent people? No. I
sure wish the majority of GOVERNMENTS had such virtues. In the last
administration, we had the Bush Doctrine put forth to justify PRE-EMPTIVE WAR
in order to "prevent" any possible "terrorist" attacks...
and this was used to justify invading
Iraq and killing God knows HOW many
truly innocent Iraqi civilians. Under George W. Bush, the
U.S.A. became
the moral equivalent of the IRA. And I'm ashamed of that. I wish more of my
fellow voters would've chosen a better man for President. Too often, it's a
choice between two evils, the lesser being not-so-much better than the
worse-of-two.
I'm disgusted with both the Republicans and the Democrats. All the major
problems in America
were caused by actions committed by both wings, Left and Right. The problem is
POWER: it CORRUPTS. And GOVERNMENT IS POWER. That's why Tom Paine said that
it's best -- if we NEED to have government -- for it to be as SMALL as
possible.
The U.S. Constitution is supposed to keep government from becoming too
powerful. We aren't supposed to wage wars unless the Congress DECLARES war. But
we haven't "declared" war since World War Two. Yet we've FOUGHT wars
-- or, excuse me, "police actions". And, in the case of
Iraq ,
America didn't "declare"
war -- but our Congress voted to give the "coalition" the authority
to enforce a U.N. resolution.. . which amounted to invading a country and
waging a war there which not only toppled Saddam's regime, but also turned that
entire area into a hellhole. And the civilians there are considered
"collateral damage".
Is there an answer to the Problem? Can the human race be reformed, or will we
always be "jungle creatures" (as Eleonore of Aquitaine says of us in
"THE LION IN WINTER") at each other's throats for all eternity?
There are no easy answers in PLANET OF THE APES. That's why it's such a magnificent
film (and series). Armando said that "We must love one another or
DIE." Because we'll KILL each other, otherwise. It's in our nature. I wish
it wasn't, but it's THERE.
If the English don't like what some in the IRA do, maybe they should mind their
own business and get the fuck out of
Ireland . Let the English stay in
England , the Irish stay in
Ireland , and
they can both be good neighbours to each other, rather than one being an
Occupier and the other being Occupied. If the American people had and have the
right for Self-Governance, then surely the Irish do, too. Every individual has
the right to go about his/her life without some government -- be it their own
or some foreign one -- interfering with them. When any government DOES
interfere -- either with their own people's rights or with the rights of other
people living in other nations -- it should expect a response they might not
like.
And they'll probably always call ANY response "terrorism". And that
is an insult to somebody who is a genuine victim of true terrorism.
Patrick
P.S. No, Mr. Haydon. You said: "next you will be telling me that the
talaban are atheists and they have the same beliefs, same as the IRA.
Sorry but IRA where terrorists same goes for the talaban, loose talk about
something you have no idea about gets people killed."
The Taliban are religious fanatics oppressing not only their own people, but
they provided Al-Qaeda with support (training camps) for their worldwide jihad
against their "infidel" enemies -- the U.S.A. ,
Israel ,
etc. The war against the Taliban in
Afghanistan is justified, unlike
the Iraq War. For siding with Bin Laden, the Taliban deserve to be wiped out.
If Iraq
had had anything to do with 9/11, then I'd approve of cleaning their clocks,
too... but they DIDN'T have anything to do with 9/11.
The Taliban have a tactic whereby they throw acid in the face of any female
Afghani who dares go around not covered up in a burqa. THAT is terrorism. Do
the Irish in the IRA do that, or anything even remotely LIKE that? Perhaps some
members of the IRA do. But certainly not all.
And plenty of people are already getting killed over the question of Irish
independence -- on BOTH sides. My so-called "loose talk" isn't adding
to the damned body-count! There aren't any IRA sympathizers haunting the
POTADG, reading my posts, and then saying: "Hey! That PLANET OF THE APES
fan criticizes English occupation of
Ireland ... LET'S GO MURDER A BUNCH
OF PEOPLE!" That's just absurd.

I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying Patrick - I have very little faith in man's basic nature to live in peace. But things aren't as black-and-white as they might seem from some distance away. In
Northern Ireland there are a million people violently opposed to being ruled by what they see as (and what, in fairness, WAS until about 15 years ago) a very Roman Catholic-oriented government. Any sudden reunification
of Ireland would provoke an uprising by them at least as bad as 'the Troubles' of the last 40 years, no question. As to whether or not these people would be justified in their actions, I can't honestly say.
They're people who's ancestors have lived in Ireland for about 300 to 400 years (nearly as long as white people in North America?). The reasons their ancestors arrived can't be justified by today's
standards, and neither can the English conquest of other countries, but these are the circumstances our generation have inherited from our forefathers. And perhaps the will of the majority in all-Ireland should have
outweighed the fears of the anti-independence minority? Perhaps, but again this is the situation we've inherited from the bad decisions made centuries ago. There's no quick fix to the problems in Northern
Ireland. The end result of the IRA's 30-year 'war' - regional self-government - is roughly the same as what Scotland and Wales have achieved without 3000 deaths, through the democratic process. I'm an
Irish person who's English surname and protestant upbringing show my English/colonist ancestry, but who, living in the Republic, had Irish nationalist instincts until turned off narrow, tribal patriotism by what it
was being used to justify in the North. I can't see how bit makes much difference at all, whether the people there pay their taxes to a smug British government or to a corrupt Irish government, the standard of
living is much the same these days. The mail-boxes might be painted a different colour but the grass is still green, it's all just superficial differances really and not worth another life being wasted.
Like I said Patrick, I do agree with much of your arguement about individuals needing to take responsability for their own deeds and misdeeds, but Northern Ireland is a bad example for you to use to support your
arguement, just as I shouldn't claim to know everything about US gun-control laws because I saw a Michael Moore film.
And for the record, I'm sorry T left the group. If there were problems years ago I don't know about them because I've not been on these groups as long as many of you. He has some loony interpretations of
POTA, and things will surely be more peaceful here without him, but it's good to be made aware of other ideas about POTA, even the loony ones, and it's a pity an agreement-to-disagree couldn't be made AND
stuck to.
Now who'll tell us everything about Kim Hunter??

Looking good 'Zera'! I had asked you about video footage before because you get a better sense of the makeup when you see movement. That's very impressive, you can see a certain
amount of expression coming through, the mouth moves well too - did you black out your teeth or anything?

I like this a lot. Zaius is very good. I think Honorius has the right hair, but the hooded eyes are a dead ringer for the Assembly President's - or have I got my orangs in a twist? The
colouring is excellent, I'm already interested in where this is heading, what's he up to? Is this going to explain some quirk in the movie or is it an independent story? This new artist will have a hard act to
follow with his 're-imagining'. ;-)

Yes, I blacked out my teeth and my lips. I looked pretty scary. I was going to take photos in progress, but I was just more freaky looking than usual or care to admit.
I even did not eat any solids the whole day just in case I had to retouch my teeth and "missed" with the tooth black enamel. I should have taken some videos myself. The range of emotions that you could
see through the appliance was astounding. Pictures and video do not do the Apemania makeup justice. I wanted to videotape myself, but I woke up 2 hours later than I really wanted and that would have slowed me down
more trying to set it up. My husband was being a butt-head that day and not very helpful so I had to brave it alone. I tried to take photos but the makeup process was freaking me out, and I only had 3 hours to get
everything put on. If I could turn back the clocks, I definitely would have fared better had I not slept through my alarm.
I can say this though...once my teeth and lips were blacked out, I really looked like a crazy idiot. Jess.

*** A democracy is a system of government where the Majority -- even if it is only 51% of the population -- has the power to infringe the rights of the Minority (even when that minority is 49% of that same
population).
The U.S.A. is NOT -- and never has been -- a "democracy". It was created by the Founders to be a constitutional REPUBLIC. Elected officials are chosen by majority vote, true, but that doesn't mean that
they can legitimately disenfranchise their opposition. In the U.S.A. there is -- or is SUPPOSED to be --
the Rule of LAW. Not the rule-of-the- majority (Democracy). Not the rule-of-the- best (Aristocracy) . Not the rule-of-religion (Theocracy). Not the rule-of-the- few (Oligarchy). Not the rule-of-the- wealthy (Plutocracy)
.
Instead, it's the RULE OF LAW, which applies to EVERYBODY. Nobody is above the law. Even the President -- if he lies about a sperm-stain on a blue dress -- is subject to Impeachment and potential removal from
office for such a "high crime" or misdemeanor.
The only reason that W got away with so much shit is because the Congress and the Supreme Court DID NOTHING in the checks-and-balances department, as they were supposed to do. When those who are supposed to enforce
the law just sit on their hands and do nothing, then it's no surprise that power-mad wackos go off and play Lord of the Flies.
If you don't know the difference between a Democracy and a Republic, you need to read some more books, or SOMEthing! Most
politicians bandy the term "democracy" around as if it means the same thing as a Republic -- and that's just WRONG. Hell, the communist dictatorship that is China CALLS itself "the People's
REPUBLIC of China" -- and it is NOT a republic at all! The Tianenmen Square massacre proved that, didn't it??? Calling China a "republic" is like calling Nazi Germany a Happy Happy Wonderland where
candy-canes grow in marshmallow patches and cure cancer. It's like calling George W. Bush a "fiscal conservative. "

Yeah, it is a shame.
For me personally, these days I don't argue, I just laugh. :o)
I was watching the Science Channel last night. And it turns out they've just discovered a 5 mile wide asteroid heading right for us in the 2800's (forgot the exact year). Maybe I should have TIVOed it.
:o)
A dead on - Bullseye hit. Enough to wipe out all life on earth and enough to leave earth as lifeless as Mars.
So I guess my point is, why argue? If in 800 years from now, no ones going to even care - little lone remember anything. :o)

That entirely depends on you and the rest of the group (which includes me and the "losers" I recently referred to!).
Is there something you want to discuss?
I have been playing with my dollies (which is why I can call people "losers" and nobody should take it too seriously!) and Neil has completed yet another coloured page of BEGINS which is typically spectacular.
I only recall one comment on the last coloured page I shared with the group, compared to the scores of posts about GUN CONTROL. So I can only assume that people are too busy to comment....
But hang on - people aren't too busy to comment about GUN CONTROL! So that doesn't make a lot of sense does it? They are just too busy to discuss POTA! Now I think I get it!

It's a fact and it has happened sice we were all on the POTA group - whenever the "discussion" gets heated and personal, everyone feels they have to contribute something and
the ON subject posts get lost in the mud.
AND then it goes VERY quiet for a while.

.html If you go to their website, you will find SIDESHOW has sold all their POTA figures.
So why did they discontinue them?
I know the new zillion dollar Zaius is coming soon but why not do some more characters in their standard 12" line?

She wanted to see my "dollies" yesterday and was FASCINATED by the MUTANT LEADER with the "scarey face"!
Her mother is traumatised - since I showed her she's gone around the family "freaking them out" with Mr Mutey!
Funnily enough - what got my first interest for POTA was the mutants unmasking in issue #8 of the Marvel Mag!

And something occured to me yesterday about why I reckon they stopped the line - a specific mistake I think they made in marketing.
Wanna guess?

I know Terry has one, and I feel SS is the equivalent to a UK Fan Club, but I want to run a fan club myself and I want to know what people would like from it.
As a membership kit, what should people get? A T-Shirt? Or just the Iron-On Transfer?
Do we need another paper publication?
Badge?
Ideas?

Yup! And look at the market - 40 somethings like most of us here with a bit of spare cash but not money to burn! These were targeted at the "money to burn" people if you ever
want a full collection!
Anyway I just heard Neil is gay!
Let me get back to you all on that one....
I'm sure I've just made a lot of fellow ape fanboys happy....

On the contrary....I DO NOT comment on the arguments, political discussions or petty disagreements as I get very tired of those and ignore them. I do comment on most POTA related stuff. If I don't it's cause
I'm busy or I've said "Great job Neil" for the zillinoth time!

It's a fact and it has happened sice we were all on the POTA group - whenever the "discussion" gets heated and personal, everyone feels they have to contribute something and the ON subject posts get lost
in the mud.
AND then it goes VERY quiet for a while.
