It reminded me of the Keepers from Terror at first. It says 'Apes #20', but also 'POTA Color #9' - Marvel's colour Adventures on POTA comic number 9 ('The Warhead Messiah') had Brent's first encounter with a mutant, in the cathedral.

The first 'feeling' that I had was that it was maybe for one of the 'Adventures on' covers and as you noted, it would tie in with issue #9.

Wayne it's a relatively simple process.
On the Group's main page click on the 'Photos' or 'Files' link on the left of the page then go to the folder that you want to put the photo / picture in (or create your own folder).
Near the top you will see a link that says: Add Photo / File. Click on it and this will then take you to the upload page.
Browse to where the picture is stored on your computer, click on it and then click on 'open'. You can then if you want to, give a name to the picture (type it in the box directly under titled Name:) or just leave it and it will automatically use the name you already have it saved as.
To let the group know that something has been uploaded tick the 'Send a message to the group announcing this file'.
Finally just click on the 'upload' button near the bottom and the pictures will be put into the folder you chose.

Hope this helps,
Neil

Rich I think you must be quite mad to take something like this on! ;-)

One thing that has always bugged me and you seem to have missed it as well is that page 9 (of the PDF file) has always been printed upside down! As far as I know this mistake has never been corrected in any version of the Marvel Planet adaptation that has been released?
Have a look at it the 'correct' way and you can see it makes much more sense when read in conjunction with the previous and following pages:

No I don't think so. Have a look at it as it is in the comics. If it is meant to be that way how come the ship is just above the lake on the top right panel but the last panel on the page has it entering Earth's atmosphere, doesn't make sense. And 2 panels before that it has already come through the clouds (though it's going UP through them if it was meant to be printed that way!) I'm sure they stuffed up and printed it upside down.

      Hope this helps,
      Neil

Neil, I think you might be absolutely correct in your

      having decided to do this.

Yeah, I noticed that but made the same assumption as Cougar--that the
page was meant to be printed upside down, to show that the ship was
crashing. However, you make a VERY interesting point...

Hmm....I'll have to give that some thought, because you're right,
that makes little sense. I may be persuaded to turn the page right
side up. I'm torn about this, because there's also the issue of posterity.

I also need to eventually tweak the first three chapters of the
Planet adaptation, as I neglected to take into account the fact that
Marvel's Adventures issues had extended versions of some of the
panels. However, I plan to finish the series and then go back to
re-do them, as I can't stand the thought of going backwards. :)

Myself, I wouldn't worry about posterity too much, after all you are changing how it was originally released anyway so I just would go ahead and put the page the correct way up. Otherwise it just makes no sense having to read one page from the bottom and every other page from the top! Marvel or the printers obviously stuffed up and it's about time someone corrected the mistake I reckon.
I'm curious how everyone else feels about this.

The masks and pullovers are Apemania.  Some of the costumes were purchased from Apemania...some were put together  by the members from their own sources....which is why there is a variation in the gorilla plum colors.  It's really nice though to see a group of gorillas in action like this.  It looks like it was a lot of fun.

The group is working on a member profile page/album so you can see who's got what costume, their real name, and where they are located and their chosen name. The gorillas you saw traipsing about are all located in the UK. It is a members only forum dedicated to the Planet of the Apes, and members are scattered worldwide. A big part of it is costuming. There are other bits that are very interesting as well...the forum is very photo intensive and GREAT for references. Some of the members of the Forum of the Apes are members of the POTA or POTADG.
      The gorillas were:
Dave, Simon, Martin, Andy, Karyn, Steve
I don't think any of them are in the POTA group or PotADG group.
I didn't see the other Simon spotting for the gorilla crew...I didn't see him in the video...so he must have been the one holding the camera most of the time. And there were other helpers who are not part of the forum that came to help that day, but I didn't see their photos.
When I can't get enough apes at the Mego Museum or Sideshow forums...or waiting for dust to settle at the PotaDG group... ; )
I hang out there to get my ape fix.

Well I'm convinced. I'd say turn it up the other way, if it's right it's the only place it'll be shown correctly, if it's wrong there's plenty of other places it can be seen as originally printed.

Rich - I meant to check this out when Hunter announced it but forgot. This is a brilliant idea, if a massive undertaking (but that hasn't stopped you before). I've often wondered, having read all the UK comics, what might have been slightly different in other editions, and to have the definitive versions is going to be hugely valuable. Thanks!

Cool, I'm glad you like the idea. It IS a massive undertaking, though, so I had to take a week off after doing the first few chapters. I was starting to see black-and-white apes on my inner eyelids.

Wowsers – that must be a lonely pursuit!

For those who have been downloading the Marvel Ultimate Editions from Hunter's site, I just wanted to let you know that the file for part 1 of the first film's adaptation has been updated, as I'd forgotten to incorporate the expanded panels of Marvel's Adventures on the POTA series until after finishing issue 3. Hunter and I also plan to replace the files for parts 2 and 3, once I get around to correcting them.

I was just going to spray myself blue and let people decide if I was Dr Manhatten, or a fat, naked, Smurf.

Running around wearing nothing but a coat of paint is probably how I caught the cold in the 1st place!

            Hi Dave
I am a huge collector of APEs ....36 years running...but saturday at NEC was fun, when i got ambushed by POTA gorillas.i have 2 rooms full of apes items.a super-imposed image of me , from NEC is being printed....and i bought some gorilla junior gloves, to add to the collection.my top 5 items in my collection are, signed prints by; JAMES, RON and RODDY, GOLD GORILLA MASK [moulded from a tv gorilla], rare Japanese Promo box set of TV series[with roddy out-takes of galen[...and my very own personalised drawing i did in 2002 of booth colman as zaius[which he signed, in 2004].
            sincerely,

This looks pretty good. I've never heard of Verne Langdon before but imdb says he worked uncredited on all the Apes movies. They know that guest Eileen Dietz played a chimp in the TV series too, right?

Well, Jackie Earle Hailey (Kraik from "The Legacy" episode) is still on a roll. He was considered memorable in "Watchmen" and now, hot off the press, he's been cast as the iconic horror villain Freddy Krueger in the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot. This role has haunted me a long time because of my last name ("Are you related to Freddy Krueger"?) but I'm willing to go through that again if Jackie's in the part. That's cool. - - - Jeff Krueger

                    Well this is amazing Jeff!

I recall arguing with a friend that the “final” Freddy’s Dead would not be the last one.  I guessed this right – but to go on without Robert Englund?  Jackie or not that’s just WRONG!

I hope Jackie does a great job Jeff but I’m a little cynical about this movie!

                        Hi Michael,
If It's Robert Englund, it's not a reboot, it's another sequel, and there's been plenty of those. Horror reboots are hot right now. Englund became comedic and they want to go back to scary. As Tim Burton would say, if you want to see the originals, watch them.

Well, Jackie Earle Hailey (Kraik from "The Legacy" episode) is still on a roll. He was considered memorable in "Watchmen" and now, hot off the press, he's been cast as the iconic horror villain Freddy Krueger in the new "Nightmare on Elm Street " reboot. This role has haunted me a long time because of my last name ("Are you related to Freddy Krueger"?) but I'm willing to go through that again if Jackie's in the part. That's cool. - - - Jeff Krueger

                      Anyone ever heard of this?

"A recut version of Tombs of the Blind Dead was released in the U.S. under the title Revenge From Planet Ape in an effort to capitalize on the on the success of Planet of the Apes. An alternate opening sequence was added to make a dubious connection between the two films. It includes some ludicrous narration over the opening credit footage which asserts that "almost three thousands years ago," Man battled a society of "super-intelligent apes" for mastery of the Earth. Mankind won, and tortured the last remaining super-apes to death, by "piercing their eyes with a red hot poker." In response, the leader of the apes vowed to return from the dead and wreak their revenge on mankind, "before Man destroyed Earth himself." One can only assume that this outrageous idea was inspired by the fact that the sunken, noseless but bearded faces of the Blind Dead look very slightly simian in nature..."

This review goes on to suggest this could be a hoax created for the DVD release of Spanish horror film 'Tombs of the Blind Dead'. I thought it was a bit too elaborate to be a hoax, but the only information I can find about it comes from the DVD bonus feature. I can't find any posters or anything like that. Any thoughts? Surely someone would have heard of this if it was genuine?

They rebooted Jason, too. But anybody can play that. They're even doing a new "Tron" and "Clash of the Titans", and those were flops in their day!

There have actually been two more films since Freddy's Dead. Have you seen Wes Craven's New Nightmare? It was much better than any of the other sequels, in my opinion--I'd recommend seeing it if you haven't already. Freddy vs. Jason was rather ridiculous, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I have not seen it myself. For whatever it's worth, a few
years ago a feature article on the "Blind Dead" series of movies in Rue
Morgue magazine also mentioned the reworked version that lamely
attempted to tie the movie with POTA. I know there is a cool Box set of
the movies (in a coffin shaped casebox), but I don't know if the extra
                      footage is in there either.

Tron and Clash of the Titans flops?????
I dont remember them being flops, Tron for the time was fantastic with its special effects, computers where in there infancy to the general public .
Personally i was under the impression that this film was a film that opened doors for future movies.
I think it was one if not the first to use green screen.
Also i remember the video game being everywhere, nearly all amusement arcades had the game.
                      Mark :)

"Tron" did become a cult classic among the computer generation. It was groundbreaking at the time but still a flop. Kind of like "Blade Runner". It found it's audience after the fact. Yeah, it's kind of a sequel but I don't think most people remember it, so it might as well be brand new.

I think the new Tron is more of a sequal than a remake...Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner are both in it

That's what a flop is, how they did in theaters. I think both "Tron" and "Blade Runner" came out in 1982, which is considered a great year for movies. "Star Trek 2", "Road Warrior", "E.T.", "Buckaroo Bonzai", I don't remember what all. "Blade Runner" rocks and it finally got the acclaim it deserved, but not when it was released. I don't think "Tron" is particularly popular even now, but it's a watershed movie for computer geeks.

                      Blade Runner flop?????
O.K maybe at the time but yes they found there market.
But Blade Runner has been voted the best Sci - Fi movie of all time.
Personally i dont think so but it was?
I can put a long list in front of that P.O.T.A's / Star Wars / Logans Run / Terminator / Time Machine and even Wizard of Oz!!!
                      Mark :)

It found it's audience after the fact. Yeah, it's kind of a sequel but I don't think most people remember it, so it might as well be brand new.
