"Wolverine", the new "X-Men" movie from Fox started the summer off right for the studio with an estimated $ 87 million opening weekend. The movie overcame reviews
(from critics and fans alike) that skewered it as if it were on the business end of the title character's claws, and a leaked workprint that spelled disaster. The # 2 movie, the comedy "Ghosts of Girlfriends
Past" was at $15 million. Next week the onslaught begins with "Star Trek"; remains to be seen if "Wolverine" can hold up.
Good luck to our masters. If anyone can make gold from a sow's ear, I mean an ape's ear, I mean a wolverine's ear, they can.

Are you “interpreting me another way”

Well since it was written to be a 3 page
story
I would say yes it is complete
I just put "to be continued" at the end as a
cliffhanger to tease people
i'm not sure how much can be said in 3 pages
but I will see if i can think up some other idea to
fit in that space
thanks

| Subject: New Ape Chronicles issues - questions ! |
.html
.html
Michael asked me why there are 3 new issues of
Ape Chronicles in the works
Actually its quite simple
The plan was always to go monthly - meaning 12 new
issues a year
Its always been the plan but my life schedule of
work/life has never allowed me to do it
but if I feel I can get 3 issues out in the next
few montsh than its all good from my point of view
Its interesting that magazines like People Weekly
come out every single week and yet people
have no problem with buying issues continuously -
if it entertains you than its worth buying
My schedule is sporadic and so I work hard on
getting new stuff compiled when I have time
so I usually try to work on a few issues at a
time
Last year I released them at the same time - maybe
that was a mistake for those who couldnt afford them at once
But I try to make this as friendly as possible to
fans by always keeping them in print
so people can afford to buy just 1 and see if they
like it and they can buy others later on
Do I have to release them all the same time
? No its true I dont
I could space the release dates out and if you
think that is smarter than I definitely could do that
In terms of having no printing costs well I dont
think thats true
I obviously have to pay to print them and ship
them
Could I be making any money - yes its possible I
might make a couple bucks per issue
Is this about making profit - no - cause i could go
work at mcdonalds and easily make more money
If I was selling hundreds of them then yes I would
be making money
but simply put I dont sell many of them anymore -
sales are down over the years as
everyone is used to getting everything on the
internet for free
Is $9.99 too expensive including
shipping
i really dont think so - anyone can afford that if
they are interested
Why do people pay over $100 for the blu-ray discs
when they already have the movies
I am looking at the possibilities of releasing new
issues through amazon.com
with color covers and high quality printing - and
if i did this i would NOT raise the cost
this isn't about money
I simply picked $9.99 cause its a nice simple
amount
Its funny that fans who are NOT on the yahoogroups
are always willing to pay more

That's the problem
I think. I was not planning on doing yet another uncompleted story which is what
it is if there's just an unanswered cliff-hanger at the end. I was under the
impression that it was meant to have a conclusion at the end of the 3rd page?
That was what I was thinking of anyway.
Neil T. Foster
Well since it was written to be a 3 page
story
I would say yes it is complete
I just put "to be continued" at the end as a
cliffhanger to tease people
i'm not sure how much can be said in 3 pages
but I will see if i can think up some other idea
to fit in that
space

I have just
uploaded four pages from the 'National Doll World' magazine from 1988 that
feature the POTA Mego figures. These are amongst a whole bunch of POTA related
magazine pages that I was going to send to Hunter for his site ages ago but
which for various reasons I never got around to doing.
So for your
viewing pleasure they are now in the files section in a folder named: National
Doll World Magazine.

I know there was talk of the UK Live shows lately...... I have a magazine called Action TV that
was put out in Nov. of 2006. It has an extensive well written article about the TV series which I will scan someday..... Much credit was given to the editors of Simian Scrolls for their help....
But the last paragraph talks about the stage shows....
"Unusually, at least for an American TV show of this era, a UK-based promotions company named TCP (which also ran the official British Planet of the Apes fan club) arranged a whole series of live appearances by
costumed characters from the programme at venues across the country. With the parts of Galen, Urko, Dr Zaius and their human adversaries played by stand-ins and stunt performers, TCP organised both shopping centre
public appearances and mini 'adventure shows' at sports grounds, safari parks and other suitable sites. Between 1975 and 1977, TCP put together more than 150 such shows. The company also scripted and produced an
origianl Planet of the Apes stage play, which premiered at the
Theatre Royal, Stratford in London on 19 August 1976."
Anyone have any specific info on the stageplay?

Getting very frustrated trying to cheat my way through this game. The cheat codes that are widely available on the net don't work - there's forums with a lot of people saying this from
as long ago as 2002. Someone suggested a 'POTA game trainer' which I downloaded and which seems like something genuine and something that should make me unkillable in the game, but I can't get it to
function. The only way to know if it's working is to march up to a gorilla and let him punch you, but every time I try using this 'trainer' I just get killed and sent all the way back to the start of the
game again. All I want to do is run through all the levels and record the scenes, I've no interest in actually playing this game. Anyone able to offer any help?? <.html

One thing nobody has ever documented is original
press releases, articles, reviews
and most importantly weekly movie sales/stats of
the POTA movies and tv show
If we can locate these magazines we could fill in
some important gaps

Please let me know if your local library etc has

Planeta dos Homens was a humorous program produced by Brazil's TV

every Monday. The shows writers included Jô Soares, Max Nunes, Hilton Marques,
Haroldo Barbosa, Afonso Brandão, Luis Fernando VerÃssimo, Redi, Sergio Rabello,
Alfredo Camargo and J. Rui, and it's director was Paul Araujo. The Apes which
appeared in the program were created and designed by Orival Pessini. He would
continue to work, with new characters and make-ups, in other comedy and
childrens programs, most notably Pátropi and Fofão.

Hi Terry - I'm on the wiki site (user 'MagicManky') and I wrote that page a couple of weeks ago. I saw 'Planeta dos Homens' mentioned in that article you posted about
the Brazilian POTA book and tried to find out a bit about it. There was absolutely nothing in the English language about it, but some interesting pictures turned up, and a few clips on YouTube. So what I wrote on this
page is just what I could find in Portuguese, translated (thanks to Google language tools!). It's surprising no-one seems to have heard of it, the makeups look ok, considering it was a comedy sketch show.
There's a link to a YouTube clip near the bottom of the page:
http://planetoftheapes.wikia.com/wiki/Planeta_dos_Homens
The wiki site was set up by a guy called Brian Kurtz a few years ago, I've been contributing for about 8 months now and it'd be great to see more people involved as it's pretty easy to contribute to.

Well I got I finally got the photos, i didn't do my pressure any good, They were sent out on the 6th of may, but I may have to find out who
really owns the property after, he sent out the picture, because I was talking to my co-worker about it
and I told him all of this would have been over with if he didn't want these pictures posted on these free Yahoo Planet of the Apes
site, he needs to put it on his Ebay listing, instead of telling people after their posted, I have the photos, but
I need to ask somebody at the Library of Congress about interllectural property rights, after the fact, he even
wrote me back to apologize about the inident and I wrote him back to say if you have these rare photos, would it
be in your best interest to do an art book and put hose rare photos in a coffee table edition.

I think Russo knows he’d make more
from selling these to private collectors than paying Fox for rights to do a
coffee table book and selling …what….200 books max?

I will, after I found out what or who owns the rights of these pictures. I think he's making a very big mistake only selling to private collectors than doing a coffee
table book and even selling 100 books for 60.00 a pop, he'll make a cool 6000 dollars.

How dare you?!?!?!?!
No, I have no problem with your asking. We haven't exactly qualified as a New York Times bestseller, but we're doing pretty well, actually. On Lulu, we were in the top-50 sellers for quite a while, and since
moving the book over to Amazon, we've maintained the same sales level. Between the two sites, we've had a number of sales every day since the book first became available, shortly before Christmas.
We've sold hundreds of copies in the last five months, which isn't bad when you consider that (a) we're a very indy operation, (b) we've not done much marketing, (c) our daily sales rate has yet to drop
and (c) there are about 5 Planet of the Apes fans left in the world. My hope is that when Drew's books come out, and if/when the new film hits theaters, that will allow us a sales spike.
We've got three more books lined up for later this year or early 2010. I'm doing a second Apes book--an encylcopedia--and I've hired two other authors to write books about the G.I. Joe and Aliens/Predator
universes. I may also write a Back to the Future book, assuming I'm able to get my hands on the animated series and its spinoff comics, which haven't been easy to find. <.html

Dear All,
have up-loaded some new screen grabs and will start to
scan my (hundreds of) photo's on to the site.
I also have Japanese programs that have lots of unusual
pics in them.
Does anyone have a clean version of the picture of
Caesar that was used for the cover of the fold out poster?
I would like a copy for an article I'm writing for
Simian Scrolls.
What is the
announcement about? New film? Series reboot?
Hope all are
well

How dare you?!?!?!?!
No, I have no problem with your asking. We haven't exactly qualified as a New
York Times bestseller, but we're doing pretty well, actually. On Lulu, we were
in the top-50 sellers for quite a while, and since moving the book over to
Amazon, we've maintained the same sales level. Between the two sites, we've had
a number of sales every day since the book first became available, shortly before
Christmas.
We've sold hundreds of copies in the last five months, which isn't bad when you
consider that (a) we're a very indy operation, (b) we've not done much
marketing, (c) our daily sales rate has yet to drop and (c) there are about 5
Planet of the Apes fans left in the world. My hope is that when Drew's books
come out, and if/when the new film hits theaters, that will allow us a sales
spike.
We've got three more books lined up for later this year or early 2010. I'm
doing a second Apes book--an encylcopedia- -and I've hired two other
authors to write books about the G.I. Joe and Aliens/Predator universes. I may
also write a Back to the Future book, assuming I'm able to get my hands on the
animated series and its spinoff comics, which haven't been easy to find.

Tim, if this is the case, about the photos not being stored in the archives, please repost your photo of you and Kim Hunter. I think I joined the DG about two years ago, and I really don't remember seeing
anything like a fan with Kim Hunter in the photos I looked through when I first joined.

of the apes: Visionary director Tim Burton put his own singular spin of Planet
of the apes,, a remake of the 1968 classic, depicting evolution turned on its
ear in a world where humans are subjugated by a superior race of apes. The
production would boast a stellar team of effects contributors. Cementing his
reputation as the undisputed master of simian simulation was makeup maestro Rick
Baker, whose Cinovation Studio team would create fourteen principal ape
characters, all distinct and different, plus hundreds of secondary and
background players. Spearheading the postproduction visual effects, a blend of
models, paintings and digital work, were visual effects supervisors Bill George
and George Murphy of Industrial Light & Magic. Article by Mark Cotta

Tim, I couldn't find anything on the stage show beyond what was printed in the UK fan club newsletters and an early issue of Simian Scrolls. I made some attempts to track down the
people involved but got absolutely nowhere. Try this link, about two thirds down the page under the heading 'Stage Play':

Did
anyone see the Christie's Trek auction on the History Channel?
Everyone wanted
Piccard's Flute. It went for almost as much as
something
like one of the ships. Fifty Grand or something like that.
He said
it doesn't even play. It's not a real flute. Ha!

Actually, I take that back.....back in the early 80's I
met James Naughton on a movie shoot. I told him I was a huge POTA fan and he
smiled and said something like "Oh yeah?"...but he was very
nice......wish I had brought something for him to sign.....oh well!

How much did that ANSA suit go for? I am curious!
I saw some of the Trek on the History Chanel. How cool would it
have been if they had something like that for Planet of the Apes...
Kevin, that is an awesome photo! Are you also Apefan01?
Tim, can you please post that photo of you and Kim Hunter?

Planet of the apes: Visionary director Tim Burton put his own singular spin of
Planet of the apes,, a remake of the 1968 classic, depicting evolution turned
on its ear in a world where humans are subjugated by a superior race of apes.
The production would boast a stellar team of effects contributors. Cementing
his reputation as the undisputed master of simian simulation was makeup
maestro Rick Baker, whose Cinovation Studio team would create fourteen
principal ape characters, all distinct and different, plus hundreds of
secondary and background players. Spearheading the postproduction visual
effects, a blend of models, paintings and digital work, were visual effects
supervisors Bill George and George Murphy of Industrial Light & Magic.

Planet of the apes: Visionary director Tim Burton put his own singular spin
of Planet of the apes,, a remake of the 1968 classic, depicting evolution
turned on its ear in a world where humans are subjugated by a superior race
of apes. The production would boast a stellar team of effects contributors.
Cementing his reputation as the undisputed master of simian simulation was
makeup maestro Rick Baker, whose Cinovation Studio team would create
fourteen principal ape characters, all distinct and different, plus hundreds
of secondary and background players. Spearheading the postproduction visual
effects, a blend of models, paintings and digital work, were visual effects
supervisors Bill George and George Murphy of Industrial Light & Magic.

Looks like The
Planet of the Apes could be starting down here in
Australia!
AN “ingenious” 62 kilogram orangutan short
circuited electrical wires and climbed a fence using a makeshift ladder in an
aborted escape attempt from
Adelaide Zoo
today.
The elaborate plot by 27-year-old Karta got her to
within metres of the public, and resulted in the closure of the zoo on one of
its busiest days of the year.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public
about 11am.
Zoo curator
Peter Whitehead
said Karta had twisted a
stick into hot wires that encircled her enclosure, short circuiting the wires
and allowing her to enter a vegetated area near the concrete and glass fence
that separated her from the public.
She then piled up sticks, grass and plant roots and
used them to climb onto the fence.
”You're talking about an animal that's highly
intelligent, Mr Whitehead said.
”We've had issues with her before in normal day to
day operations where she tries to outsmart the keepers.

2001 CINEFEX #87 / Oct-Nov-Dec / Inside the
Planet of the apes: Visionary director Tim Burton put his own singular spin
of Planet of the apes,, a remake of the 1968 classic, depicting evolution
turned on its ear in a world where humans are subjugated by a superior race
