Sad news. Sins of the Father was part of one of those great short lived rekindeled interest in Planet of the Apes where suddenly there's new Apes stuff.... then silence. I was really
excited when it came out.

Waiting for the clear latex to dry up around the hairline so that I can add more rubber latex and eventually smooth out the sewn portion of the hair weft. I love how the hair lays nicely around the neck. I used
three packages of fake wefts of hair to fluff up the hair. Too bad my boys are not hard core ape fans...they won't let me grease up their eyes and hands...I guess more rubber mask grease for me! Oh well. I
should just be glad they are willing to go to Wondercon in ape costumes. :)

(1)
they were sent same day and Moxy in Ireland (which is further!) got his

(2)
they usually take at LEAST 7 days!

Managed to read it today and although I haven't got time to write a long post at the moment (I'll try and find the time in the next day or so) just got to say it's FAB.
Going to have to take time to look a the Wiki site after reading Moxie's piece.
Jess's costume piece was great !!!
Great to see Richard Pace's comic pages and Gist's painting from Conspiracy was fab in full colour.
I'm going to have take time to look at his site (when I should be working !!)
...and of-course yours and Neil's comics look and read great, just like they always meant to, printed in full colour on paper... the real deal.
Best,Graham.

Yeah it’s a great picture and he’s
apparently done some others that are good which I have not yet seen.
I am a bit pissed though – Drew assured
me that he already had filled his quota of artists for the first graphic novel
when I suggested Neil to him.
Then he tells me Gist contacted him and
offered to do some pictures and he accepted the offer.
Something isn’t right is it?
I hope everyone here (yes all 12 of you!)
will email Drew at BLAM and tell him how much more likely you will be to buy
the book if Neil’s involved. It would be criminal to miss this
opportunity.

earlier. There's no mention of pesky film crews getting in the way, but lots of photos from, according to the article, half way through the artificial flooding of the river valley - meaning that much of what is
photographed would soon be lost beneath the rising waters.

That's an idea. I've actually had very little contact with him but I can try to get a message to him.

One more night until Wondercon. My gorillas are pretty ready...I only have the boot covers to sew for the older gorilla. I'm not putting that much effort into the boots, since I'm not wearing my chimp
boots anyway...
I really hope I find someone else who is into costuming as much as me and who would love to just wear a costume and go out in public just because. It's really really fun...I also love the make up aspect of it,
the transformation that slowly occurs.
I revamped my hairline and I have all the parts to the costumes in one handy heap. My makeup is also grouped together now. And I ordered a fresh batch of tooth black in case I did not have enough. I also
remembered to buy my liquid nutrition for tomorrow, so I'm pretty set. I hope I do a good job tomorrow. I have a feeling we'll still be the only apes in town, but at least I'll be flanked by my
gorillas. It will be fun, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's been six months since I last put my ape on, and to me that seems like forever.

I wish you a lot of luck, but most of all, a lot of fun. Masquerades are a blast, but hall costumes are the best when it comes to being the character you are protraying. I won a hall costume one year because,
though my character from Harry Potter was simple, I kept on being that character for hours on end.

You would think with all the Apes fans on these Yahoo groups alone there would be no problem selling another 30 but then times are hard so I can understand people hanging onto their hard
earned money.
At least the people here who have got copies seem to be have been positive in their remarks about it and thanks for all the nice words folks.
There was a time when there was always a lot of support for any new POTA projects but so far with this magazine there has been a complete lack of support from some. Maybe there is only room in the Apes world for the
already established Fanzines and some fans don't want to try anything new and different. I thank those of you who do.

There’s a lot of politics involved,
and the reviews by those who do have a copy have really put some noses out of
joint.
Don’t forget this all came from my
daring to be honest about the decreasing value being offered by Simian Scrolls
and that was essentially concluded by us being told we could not do better. Well,
according to all feedback we did! I think we’d be better received
had we failed!
Anyway – on to the competition!
Did anyone here get a BLACK AND WHITE
flyer advertising the POTADG/Ape Chronicles?
If you did, you are the proud owner of a

You know, I used to think that you might be a little overly sensitive & sometimes flew off the handle about the others in the "Apes" world excluding you guys, but recently
I've started to think you may be right. You worked so hard putting together a great full color fanzine with people known & respected in both groups & in the world of comics & nobody has a thing to say? Even if
someone just chimed in that it was too exspensive or something, but everybody just seems to ignore the fact that its out there & continues with their lame observations or opinions on topics rehashed again & again. I am
really surprised. I thought more people would have been excited by this project & maybe it would have brought some of you together to work in the future. I don't know what personally transpired between the lot of
you but it must be a lot deeper than I thought. It's really too bad because we don't have the numbers to be split into different clusters. I may not enjoy some of the things they do in the other groups or
fanzines, but I still feel a common bond with everyone who loves these movies as much as I do. Just wish we could all stand united.

Nah! Ask Hunter, it’s just me
being paranoid!
Seriously though John, it’s actually
quite disgraceful and it’s really about people trying to be “King
of the Apes” rather than playing a role in a team.
Whatever has happened (unless I raped or
murdered someone!), there’s nothing that can justify the way Neil and I
are treated.
The worst thing that’s happened in
these little bitch fights is someone almost got sacked and that was ME when
Chris Lawless reported to my employer that I was posting from work. Can
you imagine the pettiness of someone being so hateful as to do that to me, my
wife, my kids and the POTA Community he claims to be a fan of who ultimately
lost out when I stopped promptly responding to posts from work.
And I’ve even forgiven Chris and
actually exchange emails with him now.
We bust our balls and spend all our time
and money on apes and for what?
Someone whom I thought was above it all is
Rich Handley. Rich still includes a mention of the DG and Neil and myself
in his “Timelines” book which is more than the POTA group would
ever do (or Simian Scrolls for that matter). But recently I noticed that,
even when I directly speak to Rich in a post, he does not respond to me. He’ll
respond to someone else, somewhere else in the post but I never get a direct
response. I mentioned this to Neil, wondering if I am being paranoid
(because I can be at times and I am aware of it) – and we paid closer
attention and there’s nothing to contradict this idea, and lost to
support it.
Recently Rich said on the group he’d
but a copy of Forbidden Zine, and so I followed this up the other day and he
gave me the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard.
John, and anyone else who DID get the
Forbidden Zine, can you imagine any serious apes fan NOT getting it? And particularly
Rich who shamelessly plugs his book, and when Neil asks him about a very
important contradiction he refuses to answer.
As I responded to Rich, when he asked if I
wanted a copy of Timelines” I said “two please” – so it’s
almost professional courtesy for him to spend $20 on a copy of FZ!
But he won’t. He is in a
little clique with Dave Ballard and John Roache and James and they even had a
little group where they discussed how to deal with “Whitty and Foster”
and told (thankfully the wrong) people not to trust us! A few people in
that group actually forwarded these emails to me and Neil and Ballard limped of
like a wounded puppy!
But you know what John? If it wasn’t
for fuckwits like Rich, James, Dave and John, you probably would not have ever
seen the Forbidden Zine! You can thank these morons for inspiring me to
stay around and keep apes alive.
Even Jeff K seems to be snubbing me –
I wanted to meet up with him when I go to LA and he’s not responded. What
the fuck?
Anyway John what you really want to do is
ask fuckwits like Rory and LordT why they behave on James’ group and
start flame wars on the DG. They recently finally admitted they hung
around here to sabotage. And they did a fine job.
Also ask them how they think Jessica feels
that she has contributed a fantastic article and nobody will even acknowledge
this.
Thankfully Terry isn’t getting
involved in all this shit. Terry’s no saint and I tell him straight
if he pisses me of, and he hangs around and talks about it like an adult until
we are back on track. That’s how most adults do things.
Anyway – bottom line is there’s
a lot of people who want to be THE authority on apes and Neil and I threaten
them.
Next book we are doing is on collectibles…..if
Rich can do it……. ;)

The big split was when James booted Helen
and I out of the POTADG because we disagreed about Mark Talbot Butler’s
posts.
James was always threatened by people like
Mark and Helen and I saw this pattern. People like Mark –
knowledgeable and opinionated and in the business – would get on his goat
and he would unfairly place them on moderation.
Helen and I wanted to stop his tyranny.
So he kicked us out of the DG!
I actually emails Hunter to ask him to get
in touch with James because he blocked my emails. Helen and I were
stunned and furious that we could be ejected from OUR OWN GROUP like that.
A couple of days later, when James realized
how people knew what he had done and he became unpopular for it, he reinstated
us to the group and made us co-owners.
He said that to make us owners he had to
delete us from the group. I contacted YAHOO! and they explained this is
not true (which I knew).
Within a could of weeks, without the
courtesy of telling Helen and I what was going on, he quit the DG after he made
an announcement that the prior owner of the POTA group had given James his group
and the James turned up over there with the DG group site we had all built
together ripped from access to the DG. It was not a polite move, it was
an insult and I was insulted and pissed and let him know.
Of course he gave people some crocodile
tears and painted me as the villain and here we are.
With Dave Ballard I got the shits that our
Spanish Apes comics project was in limbo and he was working with James on some
lame TV show thing. He swore black and blue nothing was distracting him
but he is a fucking lying twat (ask Neil!).
Anyway it became very obvious to me that I
was just the idiot who payed hundreds for the comics and then was left with no
say in the project. All the other sheep then followed cuddly Dave and
decided I’m a cunt.

I don't know what personally transpired between the
lot of you but it must be a lot deeper than I thought. It's really too bad
because we don't have the numbers to be split into different clusters. I may
not enjoy some of the things they do in the other groups or fanzines, but I
still feel a common bond with everyone who loves these movies as much as I do.
Just wish we could all stand united.

There’s a lot of politics involved, and the reviews by those
who do have a copy have really put some noses out of joint.
Don’t forget this all came from my daring to be honest about
the decreasing value being offered by Simian Scrolls and that was essentially
concluded by us being told we could not do better. Well, according to all
feedback we did! I think we’d be better received had we failed!
Anyway – on to the competition!
Did anyone here get a BLACK AND WHITE flyer advertising the
POTADG/Ape Chronicles?
If you did, you are the proud owner of a framed pair of posters

think with all the Apes fans on these Yahoo groups alone there would be no
problem selling another 30 but then times are hard so I can understand people
hanging onto their hard earned money.
At least the people here who have got copies seem to be have been positive in
their remarks about it and thanks for all the nice words folks.
There was a time when there was always a lot of support for any new POTA
projects but so far with this magazine there has been a complete lack of
support from some. Maybe there is only room in the Apes world for the already
established Fanzines and some fans don't want to try anything new and
different. I thank those of you who do.

It really baffles me. The other group discusses a lot of things I don't care about but I check in & from time to time & have enjoyed the group. My personality blends better with this
group & we have more in common but I'm glad to be accepted in both. I'm just really blown away that something as great as a full color fanzine with articles by "friends" like Jess & Graham would be
overlooked for any reason. When I come across something worth sharing (Planet of the Apes: a musical trip) etc. I can't wait to share it with everyone who will enjoy (or is at least curious about) it, because I know
there's not many of us out there or things left uncovered & I'm so glad for everything that's been shared with me. Be it created by people involved in any group.

Hi Michael, Are you referring to Simian Chat /Simian Sanctum here?
As you know I was a member there and it was never an "anti DG / Neil and Michael" group...not as long as I was a member.
At most there was about 20 members. To be trueful their wasn't a lot talked about.
The only time the DG really came up was when in an effort to build bridges Dave Ballard and a few others re-joined (after a bit of d

The fact that they're not members now shows how well that went.
Did some members over on Simian Chat have personnel "issues" with you... yeah I can't deny that but it very rarely got put in posts as I would have
called them on it especially
if it was running down the DG (Can't say if anything was going on behind, I was well out of that loop...certainly am now... not nearly as many face book friends

But she is not the
only one is she? When James got control of the POTA group and left the DG after
raping the files (remember I caught him out not long ago using one of my
modified DG pictures for one of 'his' POTA home page pictures!) he invited
all our members to leave the DG and join him on the POTA group (I still have the
invite in my inbox from back then) pretty despicable act that was, one amongst
many over the years though!
At the time hardly
anyone went with him, only people like Glen Scheetz and that other bloke who had
a grudge against us and a couple of others who have since disappeared from Apes
fandom. Gradually over the last few years more people gravitated over there,
even folks who swore they would never have anything to do with James anymore.
Just shows how fickle some Apes fans can be I suppose. They deserve him and his
controlling ego which won't even allow a bit of fun off topic banter now and

Well I know when I
used to check that group there was plenty of posting going on, some months they
were up there with the DG figures which were very high at the time so there
must have been some talking going on that you must have forgotten about Graham.
I know for a fact that I was discussed on that group without the chance or
courtesy of being able to reply. I applied at least 3 or 4 times to
join that group and of course was never accepted, I wonder why that may have
been?

.html**** I'd guess you're right about that, but there are some new people on
this group and they might not have the disc(s)... Add to that there still
might be some older members here that don't have either of them, as I remember
when they were being offered more than once there'd be posts asking how to
get them (even though it had been laid out to them a thousand times)... ***

If anything I am pro simian
Michael sorry about not sending my last minute email to pota and not

I had promised my girlfriend we would try to be there by noon. It was
a madhouse at home and I hit the reply button to my email. If the

Anyway I will update you guys soon regarding wondercon. What a happy

Hi Neil,
I'd have loved to have looked at Simian Chat's archive to refresh my memory but the groups been shut down ....
My memory (
) says there was never
that many post but...
Did your name come up a couple of times ...yes I'm not denying that.
Once was because of a post you made HERE about a Scrolls cover which was just a casual reply to a post I made ...for some reason that spilled out on to the other groups it was very annoying but you
can be sure I made my feelings known in posts because ...it was just people trying to stir things up.
Should your name have NEVER come up on the group... YEAH, because you didn't have a right to reply...
you are right and if you think I was culpable then I apol o
gize.
As for membership because of the closed nature if any member object to an invite to some one it didn't go through.
There was a couple of occasions when this happened and though I didn't agree ... well it was n't my "House"
well I've
some how managed to find my self stuck in the middle of the road again...
Just waiting to get hit by some one in the other lane know

Is there a reason Ape

Is there even a new Simian

Hi Neil,
I'd have loved to have looked at Simian Chat's ar
chive to refresh my memory but the
groups been shut down ....
My memory (
) says there was never that many post but...
Did your name come up a couple of times
...yes I'm not denying that.
Once was because of a post you made HERE
about a Scrolls cover which was just a casual reply to a post I made ...for
some reason that spilled out on to the other groups it was very annoying but
you can be sure I made my feelings known in posts because ...it was just people
trying to stir things up.
Should your name have NEVER come up on the group...
YEAH, because you didn't have a right to reply...you
are right and if you think I was culpable then I apolo
gize.
As for membership because of the closed nature if any member object
to an invite to some one it didn't go through.
There was a couple of occasions when this happened and though I
didn't agree ... well it was n't my "House"
well I've
some how managed to find my self stuck in the middle of the
road again...
Just waiting to get hit by some one in the
other lane know
As always best wishes,Graham

Is there a reason Ape Chronicles is not being promoted by

Is there even a new Simian Scrolls for sale? I know Rich’s new book

I know you better than that :)
Thanks for the kind words...
You know there's a lot of great people in POTA, You and Michael made me feel very welcome when I first stared posting on the DG and getting involved in fandom, some thing I won't
forget and to be fair so did Dave Ballard and John Roche.
When my mother died a few months back there was a number of fans who got in touch with kind thoughts in particular Rich and Dean Preston again not some thing I'll forget
easily.
Michael knows something of what's been going on for me personally for the last 2 or 3 months and his messages of support have been very much appreciated.
Which is why it's a shame when fandom just ends up feuding.
It's probably cost us a few covers each, time or energy taken up with this instead of drawing and painting.
Oh before I forget Neil I know I've said it to Michael but Begins looks fab !!

The time had finally come again to don full ape regalia. I had waited 14 months for this to happen again at a big splurgy event. In the meantime I had satisfied my cravings to go under the goo at least four
times inbetween the long awaited convention, but all minor in comparison to the magnitude of the crowds at Wondercon. I nervously paced myself to start on Dylan's costume two weeks prior to the event. It was a
hidden blessing that I was at this point jobless, so I could concentrate my efforts into something meaningful, rather than just juggling the same damned balls at the dreaded slavemines. Two weeks prior to debut a
costume that had to be a knockout was riding on the edge of disaster, and this added the necessary stress to really light the fire and jumpstart the monstrous project that I knew was coming. This meant recreating a
stunning pullover hood for the other gorilla that would flank my side, including all the accoutrements that comes with the standard gorilla soldier issue. This also meant recreating some of my baby gorilla's
costume so that my gorilla soldiers should at least look like they were from the same army.
You see, the first Wondercon I attended was the first time I had ever glued on the appliances. I was meant to partner with my neighbor and go ape out at the 2009 event but health issues had forced him out of the
running. Although it was a wonderful experience from all the commotion I created, it was still a psychologically taxing experience to be the only ape in town. Walking aimlessly about hoping to bump into another ape
at the convention was something I had done during the whole convention. At the end of the 2009 convention, it was really heartbreaking to acknowledge that yes, we must be a dying breed.
It was only on Halloween that it dawned on me that I should bring my two boys to Wondercon in costume as gorilla soldiers, to alleviate the loneliness that I felt from my first Wondercon experience. The brave
souls who have donned full ape regalia must feel this awkwardness I think when they find themselves in the same predicament. Brian from Apemania graciously offered to help me gorilla-fy my sons with child-sized
gorilla appliances. I had been meaning to recreate the appliances myself, but the drudgery of work, the time sucking hobbies I dabble in and chasing other monkey dreams made it impossible for me to meet the
deadline. Three strikes against me already, and I hadn't even counted the chimpchange necessary to fund such a fantasy.
Anyway, this is becoming too much of a novel. Enough with the chit chat and bring on the photos!!
I decided at the last minute to wear a lei since I felt that I had gone too dark with the makeup. At least this way I could explain that I had just gotten a much needed respite in Hawaii. This image was taken
before we were registered. http://img405.imageshack.us/i/dsc03059a.jpg/
I had a funny experience at the registration. The person helping me out was quite flustered and wanted to know how old I was. I said, uh....43? He was trying to give me a child's pass, for children under
the age of 11, if you can believe that. He said my height confused him, but I said to blame it on the makeup.
Ashton of course made the cutest of all gorillas. Marina Sirtis had to lift him up (all 35 pounds of him) so that we could take a photo together, since he is so short. A lot of people who were taking photos did
not even realize he was part of the entourage, because he was easily lost underfoot.
It was unbelievably crowded and many times we were unable to move since it was all about critical mass. It was worse than last year as far as body count was concerned! I had to get a breather and go up for some
fresh air as I felt a bit claustrophobic with so many people in one giant cave. It was there that Ashton saw and posed with a costumed Ranger. If you could see it, Ashton is all smiles here as he poses with his
favorite one, the Red Power Ranger!
We chatted a bit with Don Pedro Colley, who remembered me from last year. He was happy to see the boys so splendid in their costumes. He made Ashton stand on a chair to be able to take this photo:
I was afraid to approach Lindsay Wagner for a photograph because I did not want to tarnish my image of her if she was all about dollar signs. Luckily for us, she was a very gracious lady. I promised to e-mail
her this photograph so that she could post it on her Facebook page.
We said goodbye to Don before we left for the day. I got to hug the stuffing out of him again and it felt so good!
Looking back, it was quite a fun and freeing experience. I only wish now to be able to go to a bigger event, but who knows when that will be? Hopefully by then I will have become an expert at making my own foam
latex appliances. When I first found the hidden pathway to the Ape Kingdom (thank God for the internet!), I only lived vicariously through the other members of this wonderful community of simians. Never in a million
years would I have guessed that I would someday be chimping it out in public.
My husband treated me to a power sized serving of macha green tea from Jamba Juice because I had been craving it all day. I offered to buy the Jamba Juice myself, to freak out the servers, but he told me to stay
in the car. My tired little feet did not mind one bit. When I got home, I read the Monsters in Filmation magazine that my girlfriend surprised me with. I read the article about my most favorite of sequels while
fully dressed in ape regalia. I read it slowly and with much pleasure, savoring every written morsel no matter how dated the article was. I secretly wrinkled my nose and chuckled to myself when I saw my hands in
full makeup holding the magazine up. Oh, the simple joys of living life to the fullest! I had experienced geek nirvana and I did not want it to end.

It's probably cost us a few covers each, time or energy taken up with this instead of drawing and painting.
Oh before I forget Neil I know I've said it to Michael but Begins looks fab !!
You're going to have to tell me the technique for that "mottled" colouring again, so I can steal it

Best,Graham.

Subject: [PotaDG] Wondercon 2010
The time had finally come again to don full ape regalia. I had
waited 14 months for this to happen again at a big splurgy event. In the
meantime I had satisfied my cravings to go under the goo at least four times
inbetween the long awaited convention, but all minor in comparison to the
magnitude of the crowds at Wondercon. I nervously paced myself to start
on Dylan's costume two weeks prior to the event. It was a hidden blessing
that I was at this point jobless, so I could concentrate my efforts into something
meaningful, rather than just juggling the same damned balls at the dreaded
slavemines. Two weeks prior to debut a costume that had to be a knockout
was riding on the edge of disaster, and this added the necessary stress to
really light the fire and jumpstart the monstrous project that I knew was
coming. This meant recreating a stunning pullover hood for the other
gorilla that would flank my side, including all the accoutrements that comes
with the standard gorilla soldier issue. This also meant recreating some
of my baby gorilla's costume so that my gorilla soldiers should at least
look like they were from the same army.
You see, the first Wondercon I attended was the first time I had ever
glued on the appliances. I was meant to partner with my neighbor and go
ape out at the 2009 event but health issues had forced him out of the
running. Although it was a wonderful experience from all the commotion I
created, it was still a psychologically taxing experience to be the only ape in
town. Walking aimlessly about hoping to bump into another ape at the
