Meanwhile, back home on the domestic front, "Rise" ($167 million) has made the Smurfs ($136 million) black and blue (but mostly blue) but of course has had to do si dough with "The Help" ($137 million) for weeks until recently. The $25 million budgeted "Help" might even outdo "Rise" in the U.S. (overseas so far it's done $3 million in it's limited release).

Of the 3, "Rise" is still king of the jungle in the U.S. but the foreign take of the little guys has given "The Smurfs" a hefty $457 million worldwide. "Rise" is at $374 million. Did I mention I hate Smurfs?

In short, those two films have been the Smurf in the ointment that have screwed with the late summer conquest of the POTA.
