For me it would be the scenes with the 'primitive' apes in
'Escape'.
The gorilla that kills Milo, and Heloise (Eloise?) from Armando's
circus.
There were more in 'Conquest' but that's at night and not quite so
in-your-face.

sprinkled throughout the series, I'd have to say
that the first half of Escape contains numerous
scenes that could win it for me. Zira giving her
woman's lib speech, enjoying a bath, etc. All of
those scenes are totally out of place and at odds
with the tone of the other movies, with the
exception of the scene where Roddy and Bradford
Dillman attend the boxing match. That one scene is
perfect PotA.

No. They knew he wouldn't like it so they were torturing

.html I wonder does that kissing scene suggest that Brent was not homosexual?
The Mutants seem to lift images out of minds and warp them--the gorilla
army sees crucified soldiers and craps itself, Zaius is a tougher nut
to crack and the bleeding Lawgiver doesn't quite work.I think Brent
must have thought about kissing Nova, the dirty dog that he was, and
this image was selected to be warped into something evil.Had Cornelius
been on that trip he'd have been chased by a giant chocolate cake.John,

take a closer look at the movie. (director's cut). You just might like the
twist. In class we had a choice to watch "Blade Runner" or "Pleasantville"
Most of us picked "Blade Runner" over "Pleasantville". To me Pleasantville
was copycat to (as are the Walgreen commercials) "The Giver" which is by far
one of the best books ever written next to "1984". I take it you don't like
books like that ???

Well, someone is at least using his brain. Eric Greene knows a good story when he sees one. You might not like these particular movies Rory; however, these are good examples of showing underlying moderism without force feeding it to the audience. Unlike the orginal POTA's and Eric's choices of favorites, POTA2001 was forced fed, not to mention that it lacked continuity.

They were trying to add something "relevant" to the movie-'ripped from
today's (1970's) headlines!' but it didn't work then and it still doesn't work
now. A poorly written directed & acted scene in my opinion.

of it". Then I asked her to choose one scene. She says "when that orange one sees that giant

We won't be including Drac's stories in the weekly postings, but this week you do get to see him prominently on the cover as well as the inside front page. The rest of this week's issue features the continuation of last week's Terror storyline. You got to see the outside of the Wonder Wagon last week, now get a look at the inside. This issue also has a letter column. Thanks, Greg <.html

I have to disagree.
Paula did some stunts, mostly as a human
I believe. I also believe to get the cutest ever
you'd have to combine Jillia with Fauna, and
drink a bunch of that stuff Zaius keeps locked
in hi office - but she's still going to shed in bed
and her coif will be every which way the next
day - so in the morning when it wears off
she's not going to see quite as cute.
It's happened to the best of us.
And the little things you thought
were so cute the night before,
like opposable toes, don't seem
nearly as cute in the light of day
especially with a king hell hangover.
Cute enough to make you sell the Buick.

his double in the same shot or possibly Roddy waiting at the hole in
The Trap.Urko is a behind the scenes pic from The Trap( the same set of
shots that were used for the UK poster mag). The gorilla is obviously
from The Trap but, without seeing a bigger image of the female chimp,
I'm guessing it's Zantes but her hair looks too big! Is there any

This set came out in 1974 (and today sells for over four hundred dollars...), and is an
interesting blend of the TV series and movies. For instance, there's a "Cave of the Doomsday
Bomb," which is straight out of Beneath the Planet of the Apes. There's also a view, from Zira
and Cornelius's house, of the half-buried Statue of Liberty jutting out of the sand (from the
original Planet of the Apes.) But the astronaut cardboard figures are clearly Alan Virdon (Ron
Harper) and Peter Burke (James Naughton), from the short-lived TV show. The Dr. Zaius
featured in this set is also from the TV series, not the Maurice Evans' interpretation from the
early films. The Apes play set came with a space capsule, Ape Headquarters, a jail (with a
gate that opens...) and the underground ruins of a San Francisco Tram Station, featured in
one of the early episodes of the TV series, "The Trap." <.html

smuggling for the bushmeat trade? Or do "the buyers in the Middle
East" take them for pets? Show? Entertainment? Any ideas? Just
curious. Thanks.

Sadly, no. Built in April-May 1967, you can see in BENEATH, which was shot two years later in 1969, that a little of the Ape City set is gone, then by the TV Show episode "The Gladiators," shot in June of 1974, only the amphitheater section was left. I've read that it was finally bulldozed in the late seventies.

The last time the APES set was used I believe was in the Logan's Run TV
series in the pilot. The "stadium" section was filmed for the Logan pilot

condition, and if you ever did plan on selling him, I would have
Action Figure Authority case and grade him. It cost a little but
doing so will double him in price.

.htmlIf you scroll further down the Downloads page there are DVD covers for the cartoon series. There are some more on Hunter's site https://pota.goatley.com/ in the Misc. section.
As far as the TV series, there are some very good alternate covers on Kass' site: https://pota.v.kassidyrae.com/etcetera.html"

I didn't do those.
Where did you get the type of the CONQUEST spine, James?

Tim Burton said, on a Sci - Fi Channel
special that his lady love of the time hosted (Lisa Marie), that he won a van
painting contest at a car show and got a kiss from "Zira". That was Bill and
Paula. I think he said he had a crush on Zira and of course it shows in POTA2001
with Ari, who seems to be the only character Burton was interested in
developing. Maybe Paula is responsible for POTA2001 by default! - - -

Wow! It's just wonderful to see that brochure! Thanks for sharing
-- there are images in there I's certainly never seen before.Didn' t
Tim Burton attend one of these? I'm certain I read that somewhere. If he
did, he should have taken notes on how you do it right.John,

Perhaps, but your still have to blame her for it not being very
good.
Zanuck and Fox had a hand in that, but it was Burton's job to make
it.

.html.html There's a new card set on Hunter's site featuring new paintings from Graham Hill. Graham approached me a few months ago and told me he wanted to do a series of paintings of characters from the movies as well as the TV series and asked me to fit them into Topps-style trading card frames so they could be displayed and printed as a series of cards. Every few weeks he finished a painting and I got a new file. The last one was finished just over a week ago, so now the set is complete and everyone can see these fantastic paintings.
All nine card images are available for viewing. The card fronts can be downloaded in hi-res either individually or as a 9-card grid with a separate puzzle back file also available for printing your own set of cards.

.html Does make you wonder why, if he had such a feel for the originals, Tim
Burton decided to deviate so wildly from Classic Apes.Ari had the
potential to be a really interesting and deep character(in the junior
novels, she is an excellent character!).Maybe Burton needed more of a
restraining hand on his ideas? John, Scrolls. <.html

.htmlThis is my personal opinion but the problem with the remake was Burton.
The guy is a hack. He's been lucky in the past that he's had good
screenplays & post-editing to fall back on. On POTA he didn't so it
exposed him for the hack that he is.
The original POTA had Schaffner directing. He wasn't considered an
auteur like Burton. He was just a good director. Nor was Schaffner a
genre director. The closest he ever came to SF again was 'The Boys from
Brazil'.
That's what POTA needs to be revitalized, not an auteur, not some SF hack, just another good director like Schaffner.
