There's a new card set on Hunter's site featuring new paintings from
Graham Hill. Graham approached me a few months ago and told me he wanted to do
a series of paintings of characters from the movies as well as the TV series
and asked me to fit them into Topps-style trading card frames so they could be
displayed and printed as a series of cards. Every few weeks he finished a
painting and I got a new file. The last one was finished just over a week ago,
so now the set is complete and everyone can see these fantastic
paintings.
All nine card images are available for viewing. The card fronts can
be downloaded in hi-res either individually or as a 9-card grid with a
separate puzzle back file also available for printing your own set of
cards.

This is my personal opinion but the problem with the remake was Burton.
The guy is a hack.
Burton's problem is he's a visual artist. He knows nothing about story structure and character development, and he himself has said he doesn't know whether a script is good or bad.
All I know is that even Burton doesn't mention POTA2001 anymore.

I received this earlier in the month. You may want to follow up on this.
Great Apes Need Your Help! The Spanish Parliament is scheduled to consider a resolution supporting legal rights for non-human great apes at the end of June. This resolution recognizes the need for basic legal protections and rights that will protect the non-human great apes from mistreatment, slavery, torture, death and extinction. The proposed resolution along with more information about the practical effects of this legislation can be found on the GAP website at http://www.greatapeproject.org/news.html/strong>
Please take just a few minutes to let the Spanish government know that there is worldwide support for this important legislation. You can do this by posting a comment on the Great Ape Project's website in Spain by clicking on http://www.proyectogransimio.org/completa.htm and selecting "libro de visitas"
or
by sending a letter of support stating: Apoyo la "Proposicion No de Ley" y todas acciones necesarias en los foros y organismos internacionales, para la proteccióón de los grandes simios del maltrato, la esclavitud, la tortura, la muerte y extincióón. (which in English is "I support the Proposal to the Spanish Parliament as well as all necessary actions in international fora to protect great apes from maltreatment, enslavement, torture, death, and extinction)" with your signature, printed name, date and institution or state & country. These letters can be sent directly to:
Proyecto Gran Simio, Guadalest 5, 2A, 03005 Alicante, Spain.
Thank you for your help in this important effort. If you are interested in learning more about the mission of the Great Ape Project, please visit our website at: www.greatapeproject.org.

Does make you wonder why, if he had such a feel for the originals, Tim
Burton decided to deviate so wildly from Classic Apes.Ari had the
potential to be a really interesting and deep character(in the junior
novels, she is an excellent character!). Maybe Burton needed more of a
restraining hand on his ideas? John, Scrolls.

I agree, the main problem with POTA2001 is
Burton. If nothing else he could've said, "You want to use my name to promote
this, we're going to do it right". Burton's so famous it's not like he'd have
trouble finding another gig. But I also have to fault Fox, given the poor
quality of their other recent "summer movies". They just don't get it. Yeah,
they can run up an opening weekend with a name and exciting trailers but to be
successful they need a good movie. After the opening weekend it will or die
based on the movie. - - - Jeff

This is my personal opinion but the problem with the remake was
Burton.
The guy is a hack. He's been lucky in the past that he's had
good screenplays & post-editing to fall back on. On POTA he didn't so
it exposed him for the hack that he is.
The original POTA had
Schaffner directing. He wasn't considered an auteur like Burton. He was
just a good director. Nor was Schaffner a genre director. The closest he
ever came to SF again was 'The Boys from Brazil'.
That's what POTA
needs to be revitalized, not an auteur, not some SF hack, just another good
director like Schaffner.

which they experience emotions such as fear, anxiety and happiness.
They share the intellectual capacity to create and use tools, learn

Wake up and smell the monkey poop, everybody!
Fox simply cashed-in on APES nostalgia by doing a "re-imagining," and everyone involved in its making -- including "Dick" Zanuck -- was also simply cashing in. A lot of people made a lot of money selling something that no one involved really cared about -- including "Dick" Zanuck!

Chimps actually develop faster than human children,
up to the age of about three or four, where they stagnate.
They never develop mentally beyond that age, where human
children surpass them. I read it in the book about Washu.

A goat attacked the glass doors of a school and went on a tear in the

the residents have to put out mirrors for them the recognize themselves

Otherwise they will attack their own reflections in their shiny new

Personally, I prefer the Adam West BATMAN to all others. It's '60s, and it's Fox. And besides, what are we supposed to do -- take BATMAN seriously, as some kind of high art?!!! Grow up! It's silly nonsense!

been 'silly nonsense' but the modern comics definitely aren't.They're
amongst the more adult mainstream comics.Alan Moore's 'Killing Joke'had
the Joker shoot Commisioner Gordon's daughter through the spine, strip
her, humiliate her and photograph her to make a point. The Joker and
Batman collapse laughing at the end because the insanity of life is
just laughable.Frank Miller's 'Dark Knight' opus is not kiddie reading--
it's far better than Sin City in my opinion.Grant Morrison's 'Arkham

and has to face his own demons is one of the most disturbing things
I've ever read. The true Batman is a psychological journey, not Adam

I seem to recall Brian Pendreigh, author of 'The Legend of the POTA'
offered to do just that but was denied permission. Of course this was

Thanks, Greg <.html
