Look at how I capture what I'm replying to above, then put my statement below (which is why I'm always in bold type -- to separate it). That's how I like to do it.

.htmlInteresting but it has nothing to do with POTA. As I've often stated
POTA is science fiction, not science fact, so you can't impose outside
scientific theory to it. The same is true of other SF franchises and
series. If you apply real science then Superman would never fly, the
Enterprize wouldn't have warp drive, there would be no 'Force' for Luke
Skywalker to master and Apes couldn't talk.
Every SF writer creates their own universe that has it's own rules of
operation. What is possible and impossible is up to the writer to
determine.
As far as the nature of time, we know very little about it. Far less
than other areas of science. There is no peer reviewed scientific
theory about it. Thus, it is very presumptuous of the person who wrote
this to apply his own personal theories on the works of others and to
try to dictate to future writers what creative limitations they should
impose on themselves

I think the logic thing was sort of self taught
through the species.
Esentialy Vulcans / Romulans are the same,
jsut seperated species and they don't exhibit the same behaviour.

I
should have been a little clearer---he never really seemed like a Vulcan
to me, just somebody trying to be one. Some actors did it well, some
didn't. His acting never convinced me.
It just seemed to me like all of them had to have an excuse
to emote. Sarak going senile for example. It's almost
as
if the whole Vulcan "Logic" thing was all a front, like a
phoney accent they can't keep up. Any little thing
like being half human or a bad Mind-Meld could
set them off. Perhaps that was the point -- to
say they're just like us and that all these
uncontrollable emotions are just below
the surface. But then ever place is
just like that. Where are the REAL
Vulcans who have it under control?

I ask this because I live here. Also, I would like to continue the

I also may start up a website to further communication between alll

.html Okay,
I need to know your opinions, guys.
1- SALOME' in 'ESCAPE'. A real chimp. Were her fictionary "parents"
showed in the movie, by the way? And are they played by "real"
chimps? Maybe in the POTA universe the HUMANOID Apes represent the
only possible simian form of life, so drop the "humanoid" from the
name. Then it is safe to assume that SALOME' is supposed to grow
up 'til the point she will become an erected "Ape" like Zira.
That doesn't explain the caged gorilla in 'ESCAPE', however. Just a
mutation, a stranded form?
Please, be positive on this.
2- LET'S GO CIRCULAR. So, basically, ORANGS and GORILLA turned
against the SACRED memory of CAESAR around the end 27th century, and
re-wrote history. SACRED SCROLLS and SECRET SCROLLS are fake, made-
up versions of an history which never truly happened. Why they did
that? We still believe in Jesus Christ after 2 millennia.
3- LET'S GO CIRCULAR Part II. New York 2503. What type of book were
Alan and Pete reading in that specific moment? Maybe it was just a
speculation... "this will be N.Y. in 2503, be sured".
What's the origin of the book? Is it possible that the SCIENTISTS
("THE LEGACY") made-up the whole thing for some mysterious purpose?
How do you justify this in a CIRCULAR scenario? Many thanks.
4- WHAT IF... it IS really Taylor's ship in 'ESCAPE'? Milo just
modified and re-arranged it...using bits and pieces from the
wrackage of Brent and Skipper's one. Maybe it was Milo who set
the '3955 A.C.' date on the display, according to BRENT's telling of
his story to Cornelius and Zira. At the time Milo set the time-
counting display, it was off.
5- Please, what's about the BUNKER in "THE LEGACY"? Why are the
SCientists dressed like the MUTANTS in BENEATH? Or better, why did
the mutants adopt the Scientists'uniforms lately in their story?
6- ARE the RUINS of SAN FRANCISCO in the Tv SERIES the SAME ONES
used in 'BATTLE'?
Love and peace to everyone... maybe I will become circular after all.

Normally we'd be annoucing yesterday's Daily Winner but there was no daily winner. Only a few people even attempted to answer the questions on Adventure's POTA comics and those who did got all the answers wrong.
After speaking with several members it seems no one is really a fan of Adventure's series; so we've decided to void yesterday's section.
Today, 5 questions have been added to test your knowledge of the current Revolution comic. We will add an extra day tomorrow with 5 questions about the Return cartoon series.
If you didn't enter on Saturday you can still enter to win First Place overall and today's Daily Prize. Saturday's 5 questions are still available. Just answer those in addition to today's 5 questions.
Daily prize winner's will have a choice of the Rarities DVD or an ANSA hat.

Overall First & Second place winners will pick from a prize package that includes:
- All six issues of the Revolution comic with issue 1 autograghed by Ty Templeton

- A set of Graham Hill trading cards

Once again thanks to our friends at MR Comics and Simian Scolls for providing these prizes.

They may not have rewritten the scrolls but like so many christians do today, they ignore the sections about peace & love to focus on the more negative sections. >

No idea of the origin of the book. It always looked like a copy of Life magazine or some sort of almanac to me. As far as the picture of NYC, it is a drawing not a photo. To me, the simplest explaination is that it is an artist conception of what NYC will look like in the future. > > 4- WHAT IF... it IS really Taylor's ship in 'ESCAPE'? It is really Taylor's ship as the dialogue in ESCAPE establishes. Maybe Milo did set the date. I have never considered that before. > > 5- Please, what's about the BUNKER in "THE LEGACY"? Never really thought about this. It seems more like a basic white shroud than anything else. > > 6- ARE the RUINS of SAN FRANCISCO in the Tv SERIES the SAME ONES

No. They are different exteriors. Which would make sense since they are supposed to be different cites. BATTLE takes place on the East Coast while the TV series takes place on the West. > > > Love and peace to everyone... maybe I will become circular after all. > > T.C. >

What's the basic plot of the LEGACY and its revelations? What's
about these mysterious Scientists? Do they contradict the "past" set
by CONQUEST/BATTLE ????

Wait a moment... what's the city where CAESAR went to "know" his past
(and the future) then? Surely it's not NEW YORK. N.Y.
became "desertificated"... Do you remember Lady Liberty ???!!!

| Subject: Restored Conquest dvd in Legacy Box? |
|
.html Hi folks! I'm new here and have a question, which may be old news to
you guys. I was at the Comic Expo in Toronto this weekend and was
talking with Ty Templeton about his new Apes comics and such and he
said that one of the other guys working on the new comic had just
bought the Legacy box and said that the version of Conquest in the
box is the restored version (cut violence restored). This was news
to me since I thought the new box was just another cash grab by Fox
and there was absolutely nothing new about the versions of the films
or extras. I would greatly appreciate any info at all on this.
I was also reading some of the back posts and wondered how I would
go about getting a copy of this rareties dvd? I have the Japanese
Battle with the scenes restored and all the official stuff, but have
been searching for years for edited scenes from Planet (gorilla
patrol, pregnancy scene) and Escape (apes in the ship beginning in
space). I've seen Roddy's Galen intros and would love to see them
again.
Also, I have a clip of the hunt from Planet from a sci-fi
documentary hosted by Gil Gerard, but the hunt clip is not from the
final cut of Planet. It's only about 10 seconds long, but as far as
I can figure, it's a cut clip. I have it on VHS. Is anyone familiar
with this? <.html

I have no idea what he's talking about or why he should think such a thing. It's the same old CONQUEST, though remastered in 16x9 anamorphic video, looking and sounding better than it ever has before on DVD, laserdisc or VHS. In fact, all the sequels do in the new Legacy box set. If you care about picture and sound quality (i.e. better stereo) I recommend getting it. If you don't, then you're just human, I guess.

.htmlThe Legacy box set does not contain a restored version of Conquest. Whomever said that was mistaken. It does include the Extended version of Battle which was previously only released on Japanese laser disc.
In regard to the rarities DVD, it does not feature any deleted scenes from the films or TV series. The DVD contains:
- Bumpers & Promos
- Sci Fi Channel Apes Week bumpers (intros) by Roddy McDowall
- Sci Fi Channel TV Series bumpers by Roddy McDowall
- AMC TV 30th Anniversary Apes bumpers with McDowall, Heston, and
Kim Hunter
- The "Old Galen" bumpers for the TV Series movies
- Some promo spots from the Space channel
- Retrospectives
- That's Hollywood, narrated by Tom Bosley
- Movie Magic
- TVOntario's Going Ape
- Extra segment
- Rule the Planet excerpt that covers the originals
- A brief Space special excerpt
- Actors
- "Biography: Roddy McDowall" excerpt
- "Biography: Charlton Heston" excerpt
- Charlton Heston on "Later" with Greg Kinnear
- Spoofs
- Charlton Heston on SNL
- Serta commercial
- MEGO Commercials
- All six of them in better quality than I've ever seen them
If you want a copy, there are two ways you can get it:
- Send me a blank DVD-R or DVD+R with a self addressed stamped envelope (email me privately for my address. Or if that is too much trouble:
- Send $2 to Greg P. via his PayPal account: urko3085@.... If you don't have a PayPal account email Greg at the same email to arrange to send him the $2 by Money Order.

However, I think there are some POTA fans who are as extreme. When I

of midtown Manhattan and this guy got a lot of interesting stares from
passers by. And I wouldn't be surprized if some members of this group
wished that they were Apes.

Per my post below (and the still-active link to last week's list of books expected to ship this week), Revolution #6 was scheduled to ship to comic shops this week. Now that the official list of all comics shipping this week has been posted on Diamond's site, Revolution #6 is no longer on it. It is on the list of comics expected to ship next week, once again. Sigh. Looks like we have to wait
another week. Greg Greg Plonowski <urko3085@...> wrote: It didn't make this week's Diamond Comics ship list, but it is on next week's: Thanks, Greg <.html

Wish I could help beyond that. Diamond should have gotten them the same time we did at the publishers, since it all gets shipped from the printers at the same time. (Sometimes, in fact, we'll get our copies a day or so later than Diamond gets them).
So, we have them here, and they've been on sale in the Toronto area (where I live) for a couple of days. I assume what outlets didn't get them last week, will get them tomorrow. Other than that, I'm in the dark about this stuff. I just write em and lay them out and hope the stores put them on a shelf.
Ty PS: Speaking of the convention...our publisher Steve created this cool POTA collectable for the convention...anyone who bought a set of all six issues together got this REALLY great set of Revolution drink coasters made from the cover art from the first mini series. I scammed a pair of sets off the table into my bag on Friday, (one for me and one for Denis Rodier) and will try to get a photo of the set out to you guys soon. (Just to make for a collectible market driven crazy, there's only about twenty of these coaster sets ever made. Steve didn't think we'd go through them all, and we were sold out of them by Saturday night.)

No, I don't know what the Marvel UK editors were smoking when they put this issue together. I would hope they simply didn't realize they had already printed this story a few months ago.
This issue has a letter column, and I've included the bullpen bulletin page from this issue because it has not one but two items concerning

I went to the zoo over the holiday weekend, and I had a great time watching
the primates this time. My favorite this time were the orangutangs.
There was a young one in the pen, and he was playing and rolling all over.
They were the most active and playful, even more than the chimpanzees. One
of the orangutangs, one of the older ones, had a face that I swear looked so
similar to Dr. Zauis! Next time I must bring my camera and take some
pictures of them. They were so great to watch.
The big gorilla just kind of sat there staring at all of us. It's so
amazing watching them because you can see how intelligent they are. Just
makes me want to go up, sit down by them, and just interact with them. Has
anyone seen the movie, "Instinct" with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Anthony
Hopkins? That movie is so great. Love the way Anthony's character
interacts with the gorillas. They are gentle giants.

.htmlIf anyone is TRULY serious about this, and I would give my support
because I think it is worth a shot, we need to organize and decide
what scenes from what movies need to be restored...We can't just send
Fox a blanket statement about "all the deleted scenes missing"...
I am not computer-savvy enough to coordinate a listing, otherwise I'd
volunteer, but if someone can put together either a place where we
can list our suggestions, or if someone here could take from these
posts and compile a running list offsite, that would be a great place
to start...
From what I know, I'd want to see:
POTA: The "rabid" scene with the hunting party in C, Z & T's escape...
BTPOTA: The "ring-around-the-neutron" scene with the mutant
children...C & Z's lines where C says, "How can we do anything while
they're (gorillas) in charge?" And Z replies something along the
lines of, "They won't be (because they were marching out)"...The
mutant/ape hybrid child (was it ever filmed?)...
EFTPOTA: The cockpit scenes in the opening, with the earth being
destroyed out the cockpit window...
COTPOTA: The opening scenes where the beaten chimp is trying to
escape from the police, and gets murdered...The revolt scenes that
were deleted for their violence...
Let's get the ball rolling, now...We might actually gain a big enough
voice to make Fox take notice...=)
And please, if there are any nay-sayers out there, you need not reply
to this and tell us how it won't work, and why...If you don't think
it will work, fine, just don't get involved, and we will simply try
to get along without you...=)

This all sounds fantastic, but I would like to add in BENEATH the scenes when Ursus, Zaius, and the Grand Army also are invading underground NYC's ruins, going past the Library, the Stock Exchange...and discovering the three mutants running for cover near the Radio City Music Hall marquee and getting gunned down via orders from Ursus...and the dialogue between Taylor and Zaius at the end is much longer... And yes, definitely, showing the deleted scenes with the third ship with Milo, Zira and Cornelius in it...without a doubt. Zach -------Original Message------- From: pota@yahoogroups.com

director's cut that was shown to test audiences.
In regard to deleted scenes from the other films, I'd want them as
part of the Special features on the DVD. Not cut back into the
films. Since the director's are dead, their work shouldn't be

I agree, and I'd want both versions of CONQUEST included. I think Fox could be talked into this for the 40th Anniversary in 2008 -- on HD/Blu-ray DVD, that is. We'd all have to buy new players, of course! Is everyone ready for that in a couple years, spending a lot more money on APES?

In the case of Conquest the request should be for the original
director's cut that was shown to test audiences.
In regard to deleted scenes from the other films, I'd want them as
part of the Special features on the DVD. Not cut back into the
films. Since the director's are dead, their work shouldn't be
tampered with.

The stuff that was for sale in Toronto was distributed by our publisher, not our distributor. (He wanted it on sale in his city, and that makes sense.)
HOWEVER, we have personally dropped off a box of one hundred extra copies with Altered States (the comic shop near our office) so that folks online are GUARANTEED a copy, should any further problems arrive.
But it's on the way, and should be out either today or next wednesday. (I'm assuming overseas gets it next week.) Ty On 9/6/06, Ty Templeton <

OK, you're given a budget of 150 Million dollars. A screenplay adaptation
of Planet of the Apes (Le Planet d'Singes) by Pierre Boule, faithful to the
novel. Who do we cast as our main characters?
Jinn - Johnny Depp
Pillys - Miranda Otto
Ulysses Merous - Jean Reno
Professor Antelle - Ian Holm
Zira - Kathleen Turner
Cornelius - Jude Law
Nova - Uma Thurman
Dr. Zaius - Ian McKellan

.html An interesting thought...
Caesar, in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, is taken to the breeding
annex to breed with a female ape. Some believe her to be Lisa, but
I've never seen it that way. According to the novelization, he spends
two weeks in the breeding annex, a happy chimp indeed. So here's my
question -- and even if we ignore the novel's two-week figure, my
question still stands -- are there other, illegitimate children of
Caesar out there? That's why he was sent there, after all. How many
females did he impregnate while he was there? It makes me wonder if
the screenwriters were trying to explain how the capacity for human
speech might have been introduced to the primitive apes. (Of course,
the fifth film makes a mess of the situation by having them speak so
soon after the previous film, but you get my point.) <.html

Well, I strongly doubt they'll be any better than what you already have.
Even though Amazon does have this item as a pre-order, I see that they won't be shipping it to me until Sept. 18th. So, I guess it still doesn't "street" until then.

I like some of the casting here. Ian Holm of course. Even before
he was acting it's how I pictured the Professor. I'd make Depp
Cornelius. I would have had DeCaprio for Jinn, maybe still. But I
think Selma Hayek is now too old for Nova. Even Roselyn Sanchez might
be. So I'd have to fall back to Christina Aguilera. I'd keep

chimp. To make my point here are photos of Lisa and the female ape in
question. So Ceasar might have an child he doesn't know about.

It was definitely not Lisa. The chimp he's introduced to is shorter
and bit more curvy. She gives him a 'come hither' look that shows she
knows what she's there for. I wonder what happened to the child? Would
it have learned faster? Would it have ever learned its parentage?
Is Cesar like Captain Kirk, love em and leave em, letting the Mother
bring up the kid? (hahah!)

Considering its cheaper to have slaves breed than to import them, I'd think
Ape Management did everything the could to be sure the females and males were
fertile.

Going CIRCULAR, what if some of the illegitimate descendants of
CAESAR gave life to CORNELIUS (or even ZIRA)'s dinastic line? That
would be a nice PRADOX, maybe the greatest one...

Forget it. Fox already got my money for the Ultimate collection. I'm not
buying a second set of that crummy toon. If I haven't given paramount money for
the 90 different versions of Star Trek they've released (but the redone SFX for
TOS does pique my interest), I'm certainly not giving those Finks at Fox
anymore. Revenge for POTA2001 at last! NYAH-HA-HA!

Sorry...I hate to say it, but I'd veto them for the same reason I

G
Nova was blonde in the novel?!!! I'll have to check that out. I know she was supposed to have really "golden rather than bronze skin," but I can't recall anything about her hair color.
Anyway, I think it would be best to cast Nova with a young, strikingly beautiful girl, completely unknown.
