out the world of POTA? I am under the impression that Ape City is
located in the borough of Queens, possibly further on Long Island.
Brent and Nova journey from Ape City to what is left of Manhattan by
entering the subway system at Queensborough Plaza. This would have
them traveling west, which would mean that they were coming from
somewhere in Queens. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

James,Glen or the real power behind the throne.
One of the best crossover ideas yet.
I'm working on my own which is a crossover of Planet Of The Apes and
Boston Legal.
So far the script is twenty two pages of....
Dr Zaius - Denny Crane - Dr Zauis - Denny Crane- Dr Zauis- Denny Crane-

.htmli didn't like the queensborough plaza idea. they had that stop underground, when that stop is elevated. now i know this world is the future, and everything is messed up, but if you look at the design in the movie. they have it structured wrong it has the look of a undrground station. as you can see the tracks are sunken down from the platform. there are not like that at the queens stop. they should have used another underground stop that is popular. Take it you have no goal in the writing field...
Obviously there is always someone willing to put up their dooks...
Hey..., know what?
I don't give a damn...
It's in my capacity to grasp the reality that you cannot realize
that you tear apart an anthology and in that effort it only breaks
down a piece that only makes it harder to realize and adhere to a
part of the future we will never see although, in our hearts we
wished it to be...
Thanks for crushing a dream, whether it be real or delusional...
Albeit, Illusional...
Time lines and half times...
Who'll write the next book in the chronicle?
None of you...
Too narrow minded for the 21st Century...
See you in the funny papers...
Sincerely,
Thade's Darling Human. <.html

I can open new windows and access other sites, but this one remains

Is there a reason you keep insulting everyone like that? No one has
done anything to you. Everyone has been friendly and welcomed you
here despite your rather bizarre posting persona, and several people
(in this group and the other) have made it clear that no one has a
problem with your affection for POTA2001, even if it is a minority
opinion. However, instead of responding to anyone or actually
engaging in any meaningful discussion, you just keep posting
diatribes insulting the entire group. Why? Instead of slinging
insults at those who don't like POTA2001, why not post your opinion
of WHY you like the film? And instead of trashing everyone who likes
the original films, why not explain WHY you don't? Then you'd be a
positive force, inspiring conversations, instead of source of strife,
inspiring annoyance. <.html

And oh... Brent and Nova covered a LOT of ground as
well, and ALL underground! The walk southwest from
Queensborough Plaza to pass the fqallen New York Stock
Exchange, then North again to St Patricks' Cathedral-
very likely would have taken them at least a full day,
and maybe two- with stops to rest. Heck, no wonder
they were sooooo thirsty by the time they got to St.
Patricks!!!

Scary.
Amazing too... how so many famous landmarks survived,
being 'underground'.
Any good theories why so much wound up underground?
Where'd all of that covering dirt and rocks come from?

Hello,
My name is bill Hollweg, I joined the POTA yahoo group not too long ago and have loved it! Brought back memories of my friends and I racing home on our bikes to catch APE WEEK after school!
I am a post producer for the BrokenSea Audio Drama Group, we feel very honored to announce our Audio Dramatization of Planet of the Apes Based upon the Novel by Boulle and the actual movie scripts as well as original scenes written to fill in gaps in the story itself! We are using incredible voice talents, actual scores from the original films, and studio quality sfx.
I invite you all to give a listen and download the story March 1 2007 (when ep#1 airs). Again- I thank you for your group and your time!
Cheers- Bill

.html Hello!
My name is Bill Hollweg and I joined your site a few weeks ago- and
I must say it is incredible! Thank you for putting this up!
This being my first post and the anniversary of the relese of the
original POTA, I thought that I would share some news that is very
dear to me. I am a writer, producer and voice actor for Broken Sea
Audio Producions (we make radio plays, but with updated state of the
art music and sound sfx and quality sound productions). That said, I
have been a fan of POTA since my elementary school days when I would
race home with my best friend to catch the APE WEEK after school
special... I still love the original movies and watch them often and
have gotten my grandaughters (I am a 39 year old groovy grandad)
loving the films as well (ages 5 & 7).
But enough about me and my life- we are producing a full audio
dramatization of POTA based on Boulle's Novel and tying it in with
the actual screenplays from the movies and even some original scenes
I have written to add texture, shore up gaps in the movies and such!
It is a real labor of love and I invite you all to download it for
free at: www.brokensea.com on March 1st (when the first episode will
air). The website will be fully operational on March 1 2007, so
please come by and check it as well as some of our other audio
offering s out!
I have posted the mp3 trailer and the coming soon banner at the
BrokenSea yahoo group, and am posting them here as well. I thank you
for your time and all the wonderful discussions on everything ape!
Cheers!

.htmlPerhaps sitcom is a nasty word, but this broke many rules of the
truly dire staple sitcom.
I think you might actually laugh at this more often then not.
For a start they tested the network censors constantly. Most
famously by doing a whole episode about a masturbation contest,
without mentioning the word.
He and or she who went the longest without, won.
Larry David who co-created this went on to write and star in Curb
Your Enthusiasm which is 11, that is one higher than 10, above
Seinfeld.
Trust me John, you would enjoy Larry David.
In the words of Mrs Doyle... Go On, you want to, go on (have a cup
of tea)
Brendan.

I gotta add (ask), is the original location of the Statue of
LIBERTY, supposed to be anywhere close to it's final resting place?
I've always been under the impression that what they show you on-
screen - Lady Liberty rusted, and slightly tilted to one side - is
the 'only' the upper half. I kinda figured (guessed) that )over th
eyears) eithered HUDSON BAY dried up, and this are the left overs of
NYC harbor? Or Lady Liberty got blasted off it's base and landed
somewhere in the nearby vicinity.

That is the consensus. It's a mediocre mishmash at
best.
At worst it embodies all that is worst about movie remakes.
Here's what Uncle John's Bathroom Reader says about it.
Time Travel Movie Marathon
Planet of the Apes: Charlton Heston lands on what he
thinks is
an alien planet and finds it populated by talking apes who think
he is a savage (mind you this is way before he became the NRA's
alpha male). Ol' Charlie is awesome in this--he grunts, he
snarls,
he chews the scenery like a silverback confronted with a particularly
choice bunch of bananas ("Get your stinking paws off me, you
damned dirty ape!"). They remade this one recently, but the new
version is--How do the French say? Ah yes--un lame-o stinkeroo.
Stick with Charlie, baby.

And here's a dialog question I've always had and could never quite figure
out. While in the cave looking at the old artifacts, Taylor says "I wouldn't say
he was a man like ?? ?? ??, but he must have been a close relative because he
had all the same weaknesses." I can never quite understand what he says. A man
like here at home? A man like you would hope?
Someone clue me in (and yes, that was intentional). :-)

I made it through about 20 minutes before heading out. If we had been
snowed in I probably would have kept it on, but there was nothing exceptional
about that broadcast to make me want to watch. I did notice that it had to be
one of the newer versions because I heard a lot of minute background sound
effects which I don't recall hearing in previous TV broadcasts.
Chris L.
>>That was a historic TV showing of the movie! Never before has the
film been so interrupted by commercials! I've never seen anything like it.
Three minutes of the movie, then a commercial break, then three more minutes
of the movie, then another commercial break, then three more minutes of the
movie, and so it went for two and a half hours. Incredible -- and pan &
scan to boot! No way to watch APES, as far as I'm concerned.

The other thing is that no matter when a movie like this is on- one of the
Apes films, Soylent Green, The Omega Man, Logan's Run, The Andromeda Strain,
etc- part of the appeal of watching it is the fact that it's kind of a communal
event in one sense. You know that there are other fans out there who are
watching the very same broadcast, and it kind of hearkens back to the days
before VCR's/DVDs/TIVO etc when watching movies on television was an actual
event. I remember back when I was a kid, The Wizard of Oz was shown once a
year (around Easter if I remember correctly). Being that there were only a
handful of channels available to most people (major cities excluded as there
were tons of independent stations), CBS would have something like a 60% share of
the entire viewing audience that night.
In one sense I thought it was an odd choice, but the film is 'historical'
inasmuch as it's considered a classic. Plus it was voted into the National Film
Registry back in 2001 (thanks in part to the efforts of some list members
here, myself included). Hell, I can remember The Disney Channel running all
five films late night on Saturdays back in the 90's (one per
week)- ditto with the TV Series telemovies. So with the right programming
around it, or a perceived potential audience, Apes could probably fit just about
anywhere.
Chris L.
>>It seems an interesting choice for the History channel, but why
not? From the programmers pov, show it and perhaps someone stays on the
channel to watch something else, or sees an ad for something else. Why
did I watch it, since I have it on DVD? Because along with a select
handful of movies; THEM! Forbidden Planet, The Thing from Another World,
The Day the Earth Stood Still; it's an endlessly, timeless entertaining
film. So what if I can sit there and repeat all the dialouge along with the
characters, or notice that the hatch is blown before it's blown. It's just a
classic that is worth watching again and again and again. And it always
will be. <<<.html <.html

Yeah, you want to map out the world of BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES, not the original.

That's what the captions say, although some of the captions are wrong,
for instance, the initial press read
"your GREED made a desert of it ages ago" instead of "your BREED made a
a desert of it ages ago" They fixed it in the remaster, but I remember
there were many mistakes in the captions in the evolution press.

One does the questioning, but the other, mostly just stands in shot.

I've never seen it before on the show, but I haven't seen every episode, but I wonder if it means series creator, Tina Frey, is a fan or something. The guy who walked in her office and mentioned the poster then said, "Did you know that in Greece they have to change Charlton Heston's name, because in Greek "Heston" means to shit on yourself?"
Anyway, it was a nice surprise.

That is the consensus. It's a mediocre mishmash at best. At worst it embodies all that is worst about movie remakes. Here's what Uncle John's Bathroom Reader says about it. Time Travel Movie Marathon
Planet of the Apes: Charlton Heston lands on what he thinks is an alien planet and finds it populated by talking apes who think he is a savage (mind you this is way before he became the NRA's alpha male). Ol' Charlie is awesome in this--he grunts, he snarls, he chews the scenery like a silverback confronted with a particularly choice bunch of bananas ("Get your stinking paws off me, you

And oh... Brent and Nova covered a LOT of ground as well, and ALL underground! The walk southwest from
Queensborough Plaza to pass the fqallen New York Stock Exchange, then North again to St Patricks' Cathedral- very likely would have taken them at least a full day, and maybe two- with stops to rest. Heck, no wonder they were sooooo thirsty by the time they got to St. Patricks!!! > Ape City seems to be somewhere in Central New Jersey.
Scary. Amazing too... how so many famous landmarks survived, being 'underground' . Any good theories why so much wound up underground? Where'd all of that covering dirt and rocks come from? ~ Jon

1. Was Don Murray every approached about including his character
in "Battle?" Breck was in the Marvel magazines (if I am correct with

how "the bomb killed the old governor." Or did his 'death' in the

I think the Revolution comic was excellent, but, being both a comics
and an Apes fan, maybe I can't be objective. In pure comics terms, the
run was refreshingly different, thought provoking( hence this
debate!) and free of the big boobed women and muscle bound men that
dominate most other 'indie' comics. In Apes terms, I think the comics
revived and added to the mythos--as this was an official product, if
they say it was San Diego, that's where it is, in my opinion--if we,
as fans, have to work a bit harder then to fill in the gaps then
that's part of the fun, foe me.And if you diss Jason and Alexander
again I will hunt you down like a dog. John, Scrolls.

Or for the matter ... what was the plot, or (hopeful) ending for
the "POTA" TV series. Were they trying to somehow find away to time
travel back to present day earth. To a time before WWIII.
Or did they give in to living out the remaining of their days
forever fleeing from Gen. Urko his Gorilla Army.
I wrote a decent ending to the series as a fan fiction. But it isn't a happy ending.

of the three species from the movies. Chimps aren't overly antagonistic
as Gorillas are (except in reality its the other way around) nor are
they as pompous and power mad as the Orangutangs. <.html

I'm going to explain why none of 'Terror' was crap.If you mean
by 'mountain men' the River Society and the glorious characters
Gunpowder Julius and Steely Dan then you're dissing two of the most
well rounded, affectionate and solid characters from 70s black and
white magazines. The art by Ploog is STILL held up as a high point of
black and white art in the medium and the tales, exploring how Apes
and humans can live together, fight together and die together are
wonderful. It would be good if the entire 'Terror'run could be
collected in trade paperback and the evolution of this series and
recurring characters be enjoyed for what is is--a masterpiece. John,

John, Scrolls.
Depends on the weather.
In cool weather all that hair and leather could come in handy.
But in the Summer? In the Desert? I'd rather be digging
artifacts
in a cave by the sea somewhere with a nice offshore breeze.

.htmlCrap and poor story telling. The only thing worthwhile
was Mike Ploogs artwork. The mutants were silly and
the way they spoke, ridiculous. You can argue all you
want, I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. I
feel the same way about Star Drek Enterprise. Poor
conception. Although if I had to re-read Jason and
Alexanders adventures or watch the first three seasons
of Enterprise, I'd be reading right now.
P.S. No one drew better jungle foliage than Mike.

Any one know where or how that scene

apocalyptic Christmas" feature spread (which got stolen). It
didn't specifically mention POTA, but it had tanks, 21 tonnes of desert
sand and designer flak jackets. On the backdrop to the layout there
was a POTA statue of liberty as part of the montage.
My wife makes me watch that show.

[POTA] Re: Sitcom |
I saw that too. In another episode she was quoting
lines from Star
Wars. I think Tina Fey's in the show is supposed to be a bit of a geek.
Earlier in last night's episode they also made reference to "Ugly
Betty". A few weeks ago on that show, the plot was about their concept
for a Planet of the Apes themed fashsion shoot was stolen by a
competing magazine.
All proof positive that POTA lives!
