It would be hard to rationalize that apes could
become as humanoid as they do in the original
in only a couple thousand years without genetic
some assistance.  Not enough generations to
evolve that much.  Though with the radiation . . .
maybe. Still it's a bit of a stretch of imagination.

Hi, Peter,

On my website, The Hasslein Curve (http://rhandley.0catch.com/POTA),
you'll find all the biographical data that's ever been released. The
site is told chronologically, so you'll need to sift a bit, but it's all there.

This weeks release is a full mix of the first 5 episodes of Planet of the Apes to mark the end of Part 1 of the BrokenSea Adaption of POTA! There are 2 lessons from the Lawgiver- one at the beginning and one at the end, and everything mixed together into 1 72minute episode. We will do this again when Part 2 concludes.

Part 2 will resume in 2 weeks after and continue the story of the Planet of the Apes.

Also- the first 3 episodes of POTA were featured on Sonic Society!

Thank you for all your support!

With Sci-Fi movies of the fifties and sixties, radiation explained all sorts of genetic mutations.  Just ask James Whitmore about those terrible giant ants!

there were no lives lost, serious injuries or major property loss, I

Speaking of classic "POTA" filming locations, I remember watching in
the 1998 documentary: "BEHIND the POTA" (hosted by 'R.McDowall'),
that they showed you the still intact APE city set (w/- some
buildings still left standing)from "POTA" and "BENEATH." I think
this was filmed in the backlot of "20th Century Fox-Studios." And I
think they also showed you, briefly, a picture of the LAWGIVER
statue still standing somewhere in the vicinity. Mind you this was
filmed some (close to) 9 years ago. So, this may and may not still
exist.

Just letting you know that I have updated my POTA's Timeline, and I am

the information to the best of my abilities to present what I hope is
my version of events as I see it.

There are two versions of my timeline Version v1.07C Version01 and
Version v1.07C Version02.

Both versions are actually the same however Version01 has comments and

Peter,

What exactly is wrong with YOUR attitude? I don't like it, and that's
putting it nicely.

All I said was that there is nothing official other than what is
already posted. I also suggested that the novels may have a bit more
info that might be of interest.

Good members here tried turning you onto where the information you're
seeking might be available. All you did was tell them, no, that's not
what you wanted.

What existed on the various web-sights wasn't what you're looking
for. I offered yet another alternative, that being you may want to
try your hand at writing one based on existing knowledge.

Seriously, where is this attitude you're talking baout?

I know this post won't go thru, but James, I have to ask:

Why is it that Peter is allowed to post a direct comment at me, and yet
last week or so, I had to rewrite some parts of a post because one word
in it was construed as being "too harsh"? And that word really was not
directed at any one body, more of an idea.

I certainly see that this group is not a democratic one, and some
members do seem to have free reign over what they say and gets posted,
yet newer ones as myself are edited and/or muzzled.

Billy this rocks! Amazing stuff you have
there......LOVE the door...

A few questions as I drool....

Are the flag and the table actual props from the
series?

Where did you get the excellently painted large banks
on the top shelf? Did you paint them?

In the third pic, there is a gorilla wearing a red
uniform....what is that from?

GREAT STUFF!

Billy,

Do you mind talking $$ (if not, I understand)?...As in, what did some
of the originals cost (like the masks and costumes)...What did the
replicas cost, and is there a way we can contact whoever replicated
them?...And how can we contact Brian?...Thanks...

I love it when Apes fans are so marvellously inspired and can show
the world that all the lightsabers, phasers and klingon heads in the
world will never, ever, match the sheer flowing design genius that
was, and is, Planet of the Apes! I watched The Gladiators last night,
as it's on re-run over here, and Urko had a pretty cool 'throne' in
the middle of his office--wonder where that went? I've always loved
the 'swivel doors' too! At the NEC ,at least two geeks (me and
Brendan--never, ever, by the way, let that man in your house--JOKE--I
CAN'T DO THE ICONNY THING AT THE END) bought a reproduction of the
Ape head banner and I managed to get mine signed by Linda and
Buck.I'm hoping to get Ron later this year and keep it going. The
Apes 'look' never dates, never gets old, it's just perfect. And so is
your room.John,Scrolls.

An awesome collection, sir. Words fail me.

I noticed what looks like an orangutan mask with a long beard in the
glass cabinet - what's the story behind that particular piece?

And the 'Mutant Leader' resin kit... did you build and paint it yourself?

Would you ever consider doing a "Les Hemstock' and take your
collection on the road?

Enough with the questions already!

If you do then I have a reason to go back to Chiller this fall! I've skipped the Chiller shows since they moved to Parsippany (or wherever!) but if you do a display I'll be there with my camera.

You're right there Tim, things are a foot

they're a hand. I never cared for the bust

cast sculpture, which is spot on, even
unpainted.  Though I have to admit in
the right light and at the right angle,
the museum mannequin is looking
a lot better.  I'm considering buying
one again.  But it'll have to have a
few custom touches.  Like a
Geisha quality Asian hair wig.
And those brown eyes will have
to go.  Her eyes are hazel.
You only have to look at
a photo to see that.
Otherwise, nice job.

I wanted to purchase the Ursus outfit, but the scale of the helmet is
way too small... I don't understand why they were so meticulous with
the rest of the outfit, then dropped the ball to such an extreme with
what probably would be the favorite piece of the outfit....

Go to the site & look at it. It is less than half the size of even
the Urko helmet. I saw it in person at the POTA 30th Anniversary
screening. A shame. The rest of the uniform is awesome.

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the offer, but I must confess that I have never read
Lessons From the Lawgiver, so I wouldn't know what to do.

In any case I am currently working on my next fan fiction story, so
al my energies are being focused on that whenever I get motivation.

So at this stage I have to decline your offer, but in future I will
let you know if I can contribute to it, it may have a challenge.

Regards.

Peter.

Yes, and it's that very photo guide that I had in mind when giving my

about what to do if your pants fall down and having to go into the

being arrested. Is that in issue #243? John, Scrolls.

I uploaded the 70 odd minute compilation of Bill's audio onto my iPod
and discovered I actually prefer listening to the show in 25 minute
episodes.

For one that's just about the right amount of time for the car journey
to or from work and two, it kind of takes me back to my youth (or
'Yoot' as Joe Pesci might say) and to a time when I would make the
weekly trip collect my weekly, British, Marvel comic.

In these days of instant gratification, where whatever you want is
often at your fingertips it's nice to have something to look forward
to on a regular basis.

Keep 'em coming Bill.

Yes- the longer version does have a different feel to it with out the lawgiver and the longer time frame.
Not sure which one I like better- though I did miss my LOTL parables!

Thank you for your kind words amigo!

The next new episode will be up this coming thursday! And it is one that I am very happy about and I am sure LOTS of people are going to have questions about. Ominous and ambiguous- ain't I-LOL
I am mixing the one after as we speak. So the release dates are all on track!

Thank you all for your support, and thanks for these kind words again Dave!

To me, that smacks of a lazy publicity department realizing that two of the mutant characters didn't have names and going for something painfully obvious. Again, I have to wonder why Paul Dehn named only three of the five mutants, especially when DPC's character was prominent to the story. Victor Buono's character really did the least of the five, but they certainly could have come up with something other than 'Fat Man'.

FWIW, I did find a theater in Albany, NY that rents out screens
occasionally and can even project DVDs as well as regular 35mm film. So
if something ever comes together in terms of a Apes fan convention and
upstate NY seems like a possibility, we have options for watching the
films on the big screen. I always figured that NYC would be a better
meeting place since people would be coming from all over and you'd have a
denser population to draw from, but if people are willing to travel I
suppose it might not matter.

True, but, I always thought "Fat Man" was a play off of "Little Boy"
and "Fat Man" -- the two atom bombs dropped on Japan in WWII...

OMG, you're asking an old man to do the near impossible -- remember
some little memory...=)
I remember hearing about it from a comic book aficionado I knew who had
connections...I remember it so well, because I thought it resembled it
so well...

Hi There,

I have been informed that Virdon was born in Texas as stated in the
book version of "The Good Seeds" by George Alec Effinger, is this
correct? As it just states he was born in Jackson County to my knowledge
(but not in Texas).

Can anyone please tell me the truth, and give me the correct
information?

Thanks.

Peter.

I'd say that probably is correct.

I did a quick search, and there is a county called Jackson County in
Texas. It also states that "Between 41 and 50 percent of Jackson
County land is deemed prime farmland."

The fact that the real Jackson County is indeed agricultural and that
there is such a place in Texas, plus the "fact" that Virdon is from
TX in Effinger's book surely makes it look like Virdon is indeed from
Texas.

Virdon and his wife and kids lived on a farm in Houston, Texas, but
we don't know where he was actually born.

Though it seems likely given his farming knowledge in
The Good Seeds that he is a Country Boy, probably
from Texas. Though being an astronaut, he may have
immigrated from some other farming state in order
to be closer to work, as Jackson county is near
the Johnson Space Center on the Texas coast.

Hi aboro,

Thanks for your info, but according to Rich Hadley's 'The Hasslein
Curve'it was Virdon's son Chris that was born and grew up in Houston
Texas in Effinger's book not Virdon himself.

What do you think? Still confused!!

Regards.

Peter.

Hi Rich,

Thanks For that.

PS: I like your Timeline 'The hasslein Curve' as I consider it as
the POTA Bible of information, and it is well put together, without
fear or favour, just presenting the facts in the best order possible.

Good Work.

Or, we can say that having grown up in Tx, and knowing that Johnson
Space Center was so close while growing up, he was "inspired" to
follow his dreams, especially since it was so close to home.

Chris, I totally agree.  Don Pedro Colley certainly had a larger role than Victor Buono.
