It sounds like Jackie Earle Haley ("Kraik")
is up for the role of Rorschach in the film version of "Watchmen". It's being
directed by Zack Snyder ("300")."Watchmen" is considered by many to be, well,
the Shakespeare of superhero comics so it's a good break for him. The Oscar nom
for "Little Children" is really opening up his career.
Also in the world of big budget casting, Tim
Roth (Thade) will be the villain Abomination in the "Incredible Hulk" movie (a
reimagination of the '03 "Hulk" movie with a new cast); and Helena Bonham Carter
(Ari) has joined the "Harry Potter" world.
Finally, I was watching "60 Minutes" last
night and they showed a DHL commercial where a precious plate is shipped and
arrives in one piece, only to be broke as tradition at a wedding or something.
The guy who breaks the plate is Buck Kartalian (Julius in POTA). So you can

APES' DVD. Italian edition.
Problem: in the very end - the cage sequence - when the camera shot the
baby chimp's FROM THE BACK in order to make the audience see Armando's
face... I can see a strange SPOT, like a blur on the image which
partially cover the baby chimp (Caesar). Is my HORRID DVD copy, whose
video transfer is obviously pathetic? Or is some weird technique used
by Don Taylor?

that never appeared in the UK( of course WE got the snazzy colour
posters the Yanks didn't!).Issue 29, the last one, is almost half
filled with articles, because it was a sudden policy cancellation of
the black and white line by Marvel, and they used up their store of
articles.Aricles get rarer in the later issues.The Apes Glossary is
split over two issues, and several issues have black and white poster
pics on the inside.There's something magical about the old articles--
I came to know the UK published ones almost by heart!John, Scrolls.

.html Since the arrive of the Ape-O-Nauts modified the "past", and thus
the "future" of the Planet of the Apes appears totally changed (as
seen in CONQUEST and BATTLE), we can safely assume that Cornelius and
Zira will never see the light in the new Planet of the Apes. So
Caesar didn't "originate himself" at all, because it's not a loop ---
from my infamous perspective.
We don't know for sure if APELINE ONE STILL EXISTS as a separate
entity, or has been erased and re-formatted/re-arranged in APELINE
TWO. That doesn't change the fact that CORNELIUS, ZIRA and MILO - as
well as all the other Ape characters belonging to the "world" we've
seen in PLANET, BENEATH and the TV Series - will not born "anymore"
in APELINE TWO.
I mean, assumed that the "Ape Race" will free itself in 1991 A.D.,
500 years before in comparison with the "breaking point" of
the "previous" history, then it's obvious that the genetic pool has
changed. That means that Cornelius and Zira will never be "incepted",
because the ancestors of the Ape Race in Apeline Two are totally
different from the ancestors of the Ape Race in Apeline One.
Strange but true.

Well, even though I'm on a break right now, the rest of Apes Fandom marches on, and there's new stuff available on Hunter's site this week. First off, Tim Parati continues to add to the growing collection of international Apes comic covers. Covers from Argentina, Australia, Finland and Sweden have recently been added. Thanks to Tim and also to Dave Ballard and Mike Whitty for these. James Aquila has picked up the gauntlet with regards to scanning Marvel PotA comics. He's started scanning the Adventures comic, which reprinted the adaptions of the first two films in color. Issue 1 is available to download now.
And finally, Hunter has added a 1998 interview with Roddy McDowall from issue 26 of Scarlet Street magazine. Greg

students....they put out two issues dedicated to
POTA.....I had never seen the poster before but Rory
said he had it.....not sure when it came out
the first one came out in Sep. 1971 and had a
shortened screenplay for Escape with a narrator
filling in gaps between dialog and several pics....
the other came out in 1973 and had a Battle screenplay
They might have had issues for the other films but I
have never seen them....

No, it wasn't me. I used to have it back in the mid-seventies, but I put it up on my bedroom wall with masking tape and eventually the tape stained the poster. Beware the beast "masking tape" when it comes to posters! Anyway, I never really liked the poster, so I can't even remember if I still have it boxed up someplace, or I threw it out.

It was a TV movie created by editing a couple of TV show episodes
together. There were a total of 5 such "movies" created from TV show
episodes.

One reason Greg opted to do the UK versions was that they were
saddle-stitched (staples in the middle), whereas the Curtis magazines,
at least in the beginning, were glued. That meant that the UK
magazines could be scanned without destroying the binding and the U.S.
magazines couldn't be (not easily, anyway).
If I have time, I'll try to scan the features from issues 28 and 29
soon. Those are saddle-stitched and can be safely scanned. If
someone else has the time and the issues, I can host them....
