Thank you to everyone and I hope i dont deflate alot of people

by my Project

Im a avid Rp(role player) Somepeople play video games

or computer games i like the art form of written role play

like playing in a live on going action movie where someone

has a particualr part

I am in the midst of starting something and its just in the back burner as im having a hard time with the name.. The Concept is there

but the name is coming out

"Return to Ape City"

The plot line is this

In a modern suburn town we have many families that

are set up and for the most part live a very happy life

and that is until.....(you guessed it)  Apes start come into

town and take it over for their own enjoyment..  Apes have decided to lock down each and every town and city.  With the help of some

ape Sympathizers(Humans who were forced to give infor to the head Apes (shut down the Power to the homes and every modern

convience possible.    They are toi live like humans did when

they were governing the planet.

The role play will be based on the families that i mentioned briefly

living day by day and trying not to go ctazy and the apes that control each city.  I would like to bring a mix of the diferent

pota episodes and bring the best and worst possible crew of

Orangatans and Guerrilla possible.

Not sure on why the US government didnt try to take it

back but i will worry more when i think i can field enough

apes and humans to have a good game of it..

Looking for those who can write and be good with character

but not losing others in all the ape knowledge that they

know

I can use some admins and some help with the outline

of the Board im going to use...........

Again i hope this sounds interesting to some

and those i have peaked

Please get on messenger and talk to me more

if nterested or email.

I will send a link of the board and its start at least

what it will look like

Mike

Speaking outside of Matt Sotis' brilliant efforts of course.

Sound cool, Mike.
Speaking of which, I surprised no one ever came up with the idea of making a Planet of the Apes short film project much like fans do with Star Wars.
We definitely have the writers and makeups among ourselves for it. When you look at all these great short stories and comics we've come up with, I'm surprised no one has ever considered putting something like this on film. Even all the great short stories on "Revolution on the Planet of the Apes" comic book series. I especially like the one of Zira and Cornelius coming across that "People News Monthly" magazine with Caesar on the front cover. To film something like that, you wouldn't even need to build sets. Just an office space and an outdoor desert scene. And there's plenty of that in California. :o)
It would make for a good 10 to 15 minute movie short and very cheap to make.

With all the makeups and costumes at apemania's disposole, I'm surprised they never came up with something like that.

Mike,

You're welcomed!

Too good nobody replaced Taylor and Brent with two WANNABES, like
poor Ace and Peter learnt. At least, POTA integrity and legacy is
STILL intact. You know what I mean...

I don't really think Zaius can understand a complex concept
like "being extraterrestrial", if you know what I mean. I doubt they
(the APES) know to inhabit a planet.

I have a small confession to make to the
group. Because I didn't want the series to end, I've never allowed
myself to see "Battle for the POTA"!!!!!
Do yourself a favor and keep it that way. In the words of Dr. Zaius, "You may not like what you find."

Well, when his ship landed there weren't any apes around to see it, unlike when the ship landed in Washington DC, right in front of everybody's face, but I think that if Taylor's landing had been like that one then Dr. Zaius would have been a true believer in ETs, especially when Gort came out of the ship right after they shot Taylor. Gort would have blasted the guns right out of the gorilla's hands and scared the crap out of Zaius, and even if that hadn't of done the job, then Taylor wanting to "phone home" would have done it.

With the help of some
ape Sympathizers( Humans who were forced to give infor to the head Apes (shut down the Power to the homes and every modern
convience possible.

Looking for those who can write and be good with character
but not losing others in all the ape knowledge that they
know

I can use some admins and some help with the outline
of the Board im going to use......... ..

Again i hope this sounds interesting to some
and those i have peaked

Please get on messenger and talk to me more
if nterested or email.

I will send a link of the board and its start at least
what it will look like

First, I want to say thanks for such a warm welcome into the group!
Looks like I struck gold when I found this POTA group.
I also wanted to ask you guys/girls what's the best pre-order price
you've found for the Hot Toys POTA figures? The cheapest I've found is
around 129.99. Man, I really can't afford that kind of cash for
a "doll", but my ape obessession is a strong one. Anyone passing on
these figures because of the price tag?
Oh yeah, I also wanted to say a special "hi" to all the KISS fans in
the room. I am definitely a member of "66"! lol.
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

The scripted opening may never have been part of the Director's cut of the film which would explain why it was not restored to the film.

Actually, other than Terror on the Planet of the Apes, I liked the Marvel adaptations, and I thought Evolutions Nightmare was the best stand alone in the entire series.

The eternal wonders of space and time.  The far away dreams and mysteries of other worlds, other life, the stars, the planets. Man has been face to face with them for centuries. Yet is barely able to penetrate their unknown secrets. Someday the barrier will be pierced. Why must we wait? Why not now?

That scene always struck me as the opening scene as well.
Especially when Ceasar is running over the bridge with his back towards the camera.
Perhaps that's why they didn't use it the Uncut Version.

or Brent's - if you compare this shot with the interior of Taylor's

That's always puzzled me as well. I can't be anything to do with speaking/nonspeaking appearances because dialog from both characters is used. I always had the impression that they were trying to downplay Roddy's absence, but that still wouldn't explain him missing from the credits. Maybe they couldn't have two characters credited to the same person, or maybe Watson asked that Roddy's name not be in the credits so as to not overshadow his playing the role. Ditto, and I also passed on the Sideshow figures for the same reason. Truthfully, I thought the diamond Select Retro figures were too expensive as well. For not much more, an original Mego can be found on eBay. Plus, Diamond messed up the gloves on the Gorilla Solider.

I also thought it was strange that Hot Toys used two characters from BENEATH and one from the TV series. But then those Hasbro 6" figures from 1997/98 did the same thing as I recall.

Thanks for the link Rory. I managed to find one on eBay in even better condition so I grabbed that one up with 'Buy It Now'. The ESCAPE issue (#85) got WAY too expensive for my tastes, so I'll keep looking for a reasonably priced/in good shape copy of both that and issue 95 with the CONQUEST article.
        Chris L.
I also have a couple of "Castle of Frankenstein" mags from 1968 with PLANET articles. The one that first mentions PLANET, and rather over-enthusiastically calls it the greatest Sci-Fi movie ever, actually has John Richardson and Raquel Welch in ONE MILLION YEARS BC on the cover. Here's a link to a copy now on eBay:

The next issue had PLANET on the cover, but has little in it about the movie and ev en called it overrated! What's up with that about face? Here's a link to one on eBay:

APES again made the cover in 1974 with a painting that looks more like something from a Sinbad movie. There are several for sale on eBay right now, here's a link to one:

          <sigh>

OK, I feel the need to clarify the fact that in ESCAPE, it is CLEARLY established that it's Taylor's ship. The President says it. Cornelius says it. NASA (and not ANSA, BTW) is subjecting it to "microscopic scrutiny". I understand that the interior of the ship looks different and that there's three seats instead of four and the hatch was blown in PLANET and blah blah blah. It's called suspension of disbelief. When ESCAPE was in preproduction, an interior set was built for that particular scene. For whatever reason, the set designers didn't bother to refer to the design used in PLANET. Either productions stills weren't available, or the set was stricken, or they didn't have enough time to refer to the original film- who knows for sure. The point is, the script called for the three apes to be in the ship and that's the set that was built.

Now, we all know full well that Fox- whenever possible- uses certain sets over and over. I mean, the tunnel from BENEATH showed up in, CONQUEST, THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, even 10 years later in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. When ESCAPE was in preproduction, they had obviously realized by that point that more sequels may be needed so the ship interior set was kept intact. Three years later, they needed a familiar spaceship interior for the first episode of the TV series and voila!! That's why the two interiors look exactly the same. In the one still from ESCAPE on the Blu-ray set, the chronometer shows March 3955 (can't remember the day) as the date when Earth was destroyed. Since there are three astronauts (or Apeonauts in this case) shown and the ship looks the same as what was seen in the TV series, one could then theoretically argue that all the dates are wrong and that the TV series took place the same time as the first two films and it was Virdon's ship that Cornelius, Zira, and Milo escaped in. They'd be wrong, of course, but it'd still be argued over due to some minute point like the fact that the interior of the two ships are the same. Which they ARE, but that's because it's the same set.

There was no third ship. No "Mothership". No repairing of Brent's ship. There was a PRODUCTION SCHEDULE that had to be adhered to, and no on in charge at the time was even remotely thinking of the fact that 30+ years hence, people would be debating such nuances in an electronic/digital forum.

Yeah, just don't think about it. The interior of the ship wasn't shown in ESCAPE, therefore the picture of the cut scene doesn't matter -- it didn't make the final cut. I think I'm free to imagine anything about the spaceship in ESCAPE, slightly modified interior, door put in on the side, whatever. I don't feel I have to be glued to some image from a scene that never made it into the final movie. It's the same situation with PLANET, there was a scene written and shot that hinted that Nova was pregnant, there are even stills of it. So, is Nova actually pregnant when you watch the end of PLANET and then BENEATH? My view -- NO SHE WASN'T.

Do you have this issue as well? I'm curious as to how much POTA content is actually in it. Thanks for the heads up on issue 13, as I was actually thinking about picking that one up. Weird that the one with Apes on the cover has very little POTA content, but the previous issue (without Apes on the cover) had more coverage. I guess that was pretty standard practice back then though.

Well said. The notion that Zira and Cornelius returned to the past in
Virdon's ship is even more absurd than the mothership theory, as it
would mean the ship had sat around for 900 years in the open elements
of a post-apocalyptic world, yet was still flyable--and that no one
had ever found it in the interim. What's more, Virdon's ship was
blown up in 3085, making it extremely improbable that Milo could even
HAVE it nine centuries later, let alone be able to make it workable.
It would be in little bitty pieces from the explosion, and no amount
of Simian Crazy-Glue could possibly explain how he'd be able to put
          Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

Greetings. If anyone actually obtained a copy of Famous Monsters
#52, could you please scan the APES article and post it? I was able
to provide the CONQUEST article, but my copy of issue #52 was stolen,
and I haven't been able to find the article repeated in later issues.
I do have a couple of articles from The Monster Times that I'm going
to send to Hunter shortly, so be on the lookout for them. Hairy
          handshakes to all!

It's my understanding that credits are always dictated by the
contracts and/or union rules. Lou Wagner's contract probably
stipulated a screen credit if the footage was reused; Roddy's probably
            did not.

Greetings fellow apes. I have been busy learning how to sculpt. One
of the latest I have done that I am so proud of is Dr. Milo. I have
placed photos of him in Jessica's stuff folder, as well as attaching
links so you could see him.

            Enjoy.

            Jessica.

Just purchased a new server for "Caesar" and "Avatar."
The new domain will be "scificountdown.com." with the new server up and running by later tonight.

This will be the front page image with links to both sites.
New countdown site now in the works.

Mission: Impossible again this past Saturday. Percy Rodrigues (Aboro) as a drug kingpin trying to get ahold of a microfilmed list of undercover agents. Not counting Roddy and Woodrow Parfrey (who were in the films), I believe this is the first actor from the TV series that I've spotted.

Hi fellow ape fans! My name is Steve and I've been a huge POTA fan
since I was a little kid(about 35 years ago!!). My fascination began
when I recieved the ape figures and the Treehouse playset for Christmas
back in '73, I think? I've never lost interest in the apes and have
been collecting different kinds of POTA memorabilia/ newer merch through
the years. I was really excited to find this group and I look forward
to getting to know all you guys and keeping up with the latest POTA
news. Btw, my wife bought me a blu ray player, so I ordered the POTA
blu ray collection. It'll be my third DVD collection of the apes and,
                hopefully, the best looking.

I'm going to make a cast of everything I make.  I have lots more.  I have counted 13 heads sculpts so far, some of them more complete than others.

I'm going to make a cast of everything I make.  I have lots more.  I have counted 13 heads sculpts so far, some of them more complete than others.

The new domain will be "scificountdown. com." with the new server up and running by later tonight.

This will be the front page image with links to both sites.
New countdown site now in the works.

I am going to redo his hair.  I think I can do better now, but this was my first attempt at curly hair on a sculpt.

The spaceship in Planet of the Apes may have indeed been called "ICARUS."

A movie was released back in 2006 called "SUNSHINE." The story of this film is based on 8 astronauts sent out into space to revive our dying sun in a spaceship called "ICARUS."

The connection? Both "Planet of the Apes" and "Sunshine" were released by 20th Century Fox. :o)

I saw this movie the other day on cable. Enjoyed so much I rented it on Blu Ray. For those who haven't seen it, you should check it out.

This film was directed by Danny Boyle (2009 Golden Globe for Best Director) who of course also directed "Slumdog Millionaire" (2009 Golden Globe for Best Picture).
