I would say compared to standard quality of most other films on the channel. I don't know which of the TV movies they were but the episode 'The Surgeon' looked terrible so did 'Up the World so High'. The picture was fuzzy and the color off.

Yeah, Jessica. This was something I did way back in the early
eighties. I have an art talent and was able to sculpt my own ape
appliances and created by own chimp makeup, even made the wig pieces
myself (used my real hair for most of my head). It all starts with
someone helping you to make a life mask of your face, then you have to
make a plaster cast from that. Once you have the life mask, it's easy
to sculpt an ape face on it with clay, then you make molds of that.
However, the cost of materials and the time involved are such that it's
probably just easier to buy them from Apemania. For me, at the time, I
had issues with the design of the chimp noses, so I sculpted a face
more like SCHLOCK.

the actors, but their bodies are brightly lit by all the artificial
lighting being cast on them. Westerns are great things to watch for
this kind of thing. A cowboy can be standing in a desert with a
blazing hot sun on him and yet he's casting as much as three or four
shadows. A rider and horse will gallop past the camera and you can see
that someone out of frame is tracking them with a huge reflector to
keep them well lit. In the past this was mostly needed because of low
film speed, which was worse with color film. Nowadays, film is much
faster and HD digital cameras are even faster. Lighting doesn't need
to be as "hard" as it used to be, which explains why modern film
overall have a much "softer" look to them than older films.
Personally, I miss the old "hard" lighting. To give an example of this
I'll site the two different versions of THE FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX." In
the modern one, the lighting is so soft in the desert scenes that you
hardly get an impression of any heat, in fact you can easily tell
they've shot the film in cool weather, but in the older version, shot
in the sixties, the lighting is so hard you never forget during the
movie that these guys are baking (helped a lot by the old artificial
sweat they used to put on them).

Well, I guess I've gone on long enough about this, but I'd like to hear
from others who might know more.

I have always wondered if it was necessary for the gorillas posing for
photographs to light the flash, since they were already outdoors and
it's pretty dang bright. And if it was the really old type of cameras,
they would need to pose for a very long time and very still to prevent
blurring...just like the old days.
