Good idea T but we would probably have to set up a separate
group just to deal with the amount and size of files submitted I think!

I don't even think that's nessasary.
We have a photo archieve. Let's
just post all the disc candidates
into a file and then we'll all know
what's on there and prevent any
duplicates. Just submit the best
scan you can of your rarest stuff.

OK I promised I would look into scanning all the pages apesfan #2 and
now I've done it. But there are issues to be hurdled before I can get
them onto a website and this ties in directly with the new thread about
creating an archive of movie still (and other pics).
I ended up scanning at 2 resolutions. The high end one come in at about
5 Mb per page (60 pages total) and the 'smaller' scans are at about 1
Mb/page. I think I can use a work PC with broadband to do the uploading
BUT now I need a place to put them. The combined 60 small pages come in
at close to 75 MB!
Along with developing a deeper appreciation to what Greg has had to do
with the scanning of the comics (thanks again for those!) I've burned a
CD with the highres and lowres Apesfan 2 images.
This is a continual problem even with my own internet gathered archive
of POTA photos (movie stills and merchandise). I already once created 2
CDs so that I could send all I had to Micheal, and all that has grown
considerable since them. I don't think creating Yahoo groups is going
to solve the problem.
Hunter already has a humoungous (sp?) site already. But if possible,
I'd like to put these somewhere else so as to ease his burden.
So does anyone have any spare web space to which I can post the files?
I can easily create a simple web page to allow for accessing the pics.
Ideas?

Sorry. When I said their was 'a scan' of the second issue I meant a scan
of the cover, not the entire zine. The second issue is big (60 pgs). I
lot bigger than issue 1. There are photos on almost every page including
some pages that are full photo shots. All the photos are VERY clear.
(Hey, I told you that this was a top nothch 'zine!).
I could attempt to scan it but I don't think my cheap scanner could
handle it. I would hate to scan it at a low resolution that would loose
detail of the pictures and another problem my be the text as it is quite
dense with a relatively small font. If I do scan it I would still have a
problem posting it online as the files would be very large and aside
from all the disk space it would take, it would take me ages if I
uploaded it from home as I only have dialup.
Let me test out a few pages sometime this week to see if I can handle it
and somehow get it to Hunters site.

I’d actually kinda want him to be a
member of the DG first if you know what I mean?
Sorta silly contributing to making his site better when he refuses to even be a
member of the DG, or contribute in any way to us.
So maybe I’ll host the site if that’s
the way we go.

Hunter has an excellent site as we all know. I wonder
if he would be
willing, or have the space, to let us store our pics with him.

Good idea T but we would
probably have to set up a separate

I don't even think that's nessasary.
We have a photo archieve. Let's
just post all the disc candidates
into a file and then we'll all know
what's on there and prevent any
duplicates. Just submit the best
scan you can of your rarest stuff.

I suppose everyone could just download them and make
their own disc! If they dont have the capability to
burn then maybe someone could make one and copies and
send them out.
I also think this shoudl be JUST pics. There is a disc
with video footage rarities being to put together by
someone in the other group which we can't talk about
on here....! ;)

.htmlOk sorry I didnt know he wasnt in here either!
I'm thinking we are going to have a ton of rare
pics......!
I'm thinking the best way to do this is first gather
them on a yahoo group because 1. it's free and 2.
wouldn't take as much work as putting up and
maintaining a website. If we fill that one up we start
another. I know several Yahoo groups that have many
"chapters".
As far as the disc goes.....Then anyone who CAN burn
discs can pick and choose which ones they want to keep
(or just even keep them on their hardrives). For us
who can not burn (although I plan to be able to do
this soon) , maybe we can pick out the ones we want
and someone else can burn one ....I mean burn a
disc!.....for us ...and arrange compensation. That way
one person would not be saddled with making one for
everybody.

I went through a lot of trial and error trying to find the right compromise between image resolution/quality and file size. What I use for the Marvel UK comics is 150 dpi and low-quality jpegs (level 3 on a 1-10
scale). I actually scan the pages at 300 dpi and as maximum quality jpegs and downconvert them in Photoshop after doing any clean-up work that's necessary. I find I get a better end result than if I start with a 150
dpi / low quality jpeg scan. The final pages are about 300 kb each.
You may want to try a few different resolutions, printing samples of each and seeing how low you can go before you feel the result is unacceptable. Greg
Dario <darios@...> wrote:
I ended up scanning at 2 resolutions. The high end one come in at about 5 Mb per page (60 pages
total) and the 'smaller' scans are at about 1 Mb/page. I think I can use a work PC with broadband to do the uploading BUT now I need a place to put them. The combined 60 small pages come in at close to 75 MB!
Along with developing a deeper appreciation to what Greg has had to do with the scanning of the comics (thanks again for those!) I've burned a CD with the highres and lowres Apesfan 2 images.

He was, then he left, then he came back,
then he left.
Anyway, my opinion (and Hunter’s –
I have read it expressed more than once) is that “Hunter’s Site”
is not really HIS site – he just (very kindly) provides and enormous wealth
of space.
What a shame that when he did sorta name it, he went with “HG/JA”.
If anyone were entitled to get their
initials on the site it would be Greg for all he has done for it. “JA” hasn’t really done
shit for “Hunter’s Site” except for organise the layout. What a joke!
J
Hey – let’s petition Fox to
change the site name to HG/GP! ;)

No it isn’t – we just talk
about it less.
It goes on ad infinitum and does little
good/massive damage.
The one thing POTA fans need is
solidarity.
There is not a whole bunch of hugely
faithful fans out there – there is a small handful.
It really is important that the few fans
we have work together in an environment of mutual co-operation rather than
trying to climb over people and play “King of the Castle”.
Good luck with that eh?

Ok sorry I didnt know he wasnt in here either!
That way
one person would not be saddled with making one for
everybody.

further to see if the resulting jpgs would still be legible. I'm going
to dig into my arsenal of tools and utilities to see which program can
do that easily enough. I just don't want to have to rescan them if at
all possible as that was the long and tedious process (1 and a half
playoff hockey games, with commercials, to be exact.) My HP scanner
must do a double scan process to first get a rough picture and then
once exact outline, save format and save resolution, etc, are chosen,
it does another scan.

I think you're misinterpreting a credit for the design of the sight as the "name" of the site. It's not like the credit is prominent, either, buried as it is at the bottom of the navigation bar,
and you'd have to know that "ja" are James' initials. James deserves credit for the redesign, which has made it easier to find things on the site. And my name is featured prominently enough, thanks. My
wife discovered that when she Googled me last night and found most of the hits were for Hunter's site, with a few for Kassidy's. Greg

Anyway, my opinion (and Hunters I have read it expressed more than
once) is that Hunters Site is not really HIS site he just (very kindly) provides and enormous wealth of space.
What a shame that when he did sorta name it, he went with HG/JA.
If anyone were entitled to get their initials on the site it would be Greg for all he has done for it.
JA hasnt
really done shit for Hunters Site except for organise the layout. What a joke!

Hey lets petition Fox to change the site

If you don't have it I can't recommend Photoshop Elements highly enough. I've been using it since just about the end of the scripts scanning project and wish I'd had it from the beginning of that
project. It retails for about $100 but I've seen it on sale for less than that from time to time. While it's not as powerful as full-blown Photoshop, it has many of the same features.
I have an HP scanner as well, and when I'm scanning a lot of pages that will have the same page dimensions I usually let the first scan set the dimensions and then use those dimensions for every subsequent scan.
I might set the dimensions a little larger than the page to account for any drift and then crop the pages down to the correct size later. The software for my newest scanner lets me enter the actual dimensions and even
save the scan specs as a template that I can reload for future scanning. Very handy for scanning the Marvel UKs.

I also liked Burton's P.O.T.A. even though it didn't have anywhere
near the quality of the original! I guess there won't be any sequal to
Burton's Apes, even though it did very well at the box office. I really
wanted to see the apes in that modern city, which was the idea for the
orginal before they realized it would cost too much. I can't wait to see
Peter Jackson give it a try!!! The info I got was from the TV show sci-fi
buzz. They claim Peter Jackson and 20th Century fox are working out a deal
and that Peter Jackson is going over scripts. I hope for a 2007 release!

.htmlMy guess is that it may have taken longer in the
makeup chair to do 'em up in orangutan makeups with
the non-bangs type of wigs & hairpieces they used.
Maybe Huston, Colman & Ayres had the 'pull' to get 'em
to shorten the makeup-applying time, so that they had
to put on easier-to-apply appliances. Maybe. I dunno,
though. The POTA orangutans look less like real
orangutans than do the chimps and gorillas. One thing
that Burton's film did right was the orang makeups,
especially that orang senator character. But I still
like classic POTA's chimp makeups. Ari looks like
she's half human, like a hybrid/chimera, and Thade
looks like he's always angry. There was no range of
emotion in his makeups -- he's always pissed off. Kim
& Roddy were able to express the gamut of emotions
through their appliances, but Thade had only one
emotion. What a waste.

Definitely looks like Huston to me. I actually like the look they gave

wisdom.
What are the dimensions? Any markings on the bottom or back?

because I grew up with the 'Classic' look and am therefore attached to
it. Chamber's developed a unique style that he applied across the 3
simian lines in a similar manner with minor (but definitive)
alterations to suit each.
In the Burton movie, Rick Baker aimed at getting the look to be as
close to the real animal as possible, with the exception of Ari, that
as you say doesn't make any sense at all and looks like MJ ('Jacko')
after WAY to many visits to the plastic surgeon.
But for many of the other apes, Baker DID succeed in his goal. When it
came to the ourangutans he also covered both variants, the senator
with the puffed face band and the more common goofy looking
Limbo/Giammatti. Thade was not a makeup failure. The problem with
Thade was in the lousy script, in that he had a unwavering angry
character throughout the movie. Had the script given some semblance of
a personality, it would have been a lot better. (What really irks me
on this point is that the character HAD exactly that chance when
seeing his father at his deathbed. A missed opportunity.) The gorillas
too were more like their actual counterparts. I thought it was great
to have a silverback type Gorilla with actual grey hair.
So as much as I like and prefer the classic look, I will give credit
to Baker for at least trying something different and having some
success to achieving his goals. I suspect that if the Burton movie had
had a worthy script, I would have embraced the new makeup, albeit
grudgingly
Except for Ari. That makeup just gives me the creeps.

"The Great American Movie Book" lists many cast members who weren't
credited
on film. Among them is Erlynn Botelho, although it only says that she played a
chimpanzee woman. Since the placard for Dr. Galen's assistant says "E
Botelho," it has to be her.
Here's the complete cast from TGAMB:
George Taylor - Charlton Heston
Cornelius - Roddy McDowall
Dr. Zira - Kim Hunter
Dr. Zaius - Maurice Evans
President of the Assembly - James Whitmore
Honorius - James Daly
Nova - Linda Harrison
Landon - Robert Gunner
Lucius - Lou Wagner
Maximus - Woodrow Parfrey
Dodge - Jeff Burton
Julius - Buck Kartalian
Hunt Leader - Norman Burton
Dr. Galen - Wright King
Minister - Paul Lambert
First Human - Priscilla Boyd
Human - Jane Ross
Astronaut Stewart - Dianne Stanley
Ape Photographer/Gorilla - Robert Lombardo
Child Gorilla - Felix Silla
Child Apes - Billy Curtis, Harry Monty, Frank Delfino, Jerry Maren, Emory
Souza, Buddy Douglas
Chimpanzee Woman - Erlynn Botelho
Chimpanzees - Cass Martin, Smokey Roberds, George Sasaki, David Chow, Norma
Jean Kron
Gorillas - Chuck Fisher, John Quijada, Eldon Burke, Bill Graeff, Joseph
Anthony (Tornatore), Dave Rodgers, Army Archerd

I also wonder if his task was to design

Or if he had CGI.
Would they have looked like real apes with

.htmlDon't get me wrong, I think Rick Baker generally does
magnificent work -- especially with apes ("GORILLAS IN
THE MIST" anyone?...) -- and I'm not dissing his Thade
makeups. It just bothers me that the original POTA
makeups were put to better use, where characters could
express a range of emotions, unlike how Thade was a
one-note-wonder of Anger. And, yes, Ari's makeups
creep me out, too... and it just goes to show how
clueless Tim Burton was. He wanted her to look
attractive to us humans, and it backfired. AND, he was
missing the whole point. In the original PLANET, Zira
kissed Taylor despite the fact that in her eyes he was
"so damned ugly". It is the ability to see the inner
beauty of an outwardly 'ugly' being that made that
interspecies kiss so meaningful.
It was the inability of Zaius to see in Man anything
that was beautiful that enabled him to agree with the
Lawgiver's unwavering animosity towards the human
animal. Sure, he mentioned "Man's wisdom" (i.e. the
ability to devise a technologically superior
civilization), but only to contrast it with "his
idiocy" -- his tendency to use that high-tech to be
destructive, to "give battle to everything around him,
even himself!"
I wonder what Zaius would've thought of Man if he had
listened to recordings of symphonies... seen the
paintings in our museums... seen videotaped examples
of humans living peacefully and happily... He seems to
have gotten a one-sided view of Man based on a skewed
view of the available evidence. For all he knows of
Man that the other apes DON'T know, he's still
woefully ignorant. He only knows more of what was
wrong with Mankind -- but not, it seems, hardly
anything at all of what was right and good.
His one-sided, skewed view of Man, ultimately, leads
to his refusal to help Taylor at the crucial moment...
He virtually goads Taylor into detonating the Bomb.
He's just seen Ursus' gorilla army destroy the
civilization of mutant humans, and then snipes that
"Man is evil, capable of nothing but destruction!"
What a hypocrite!
Patrick
P.S. In my "last episode" of the TV series portion of
my epic-in-progress, I have a scene where Virdon &
Burke have found an intact ANSA archive of all sorts
of human artifacts (with Urko not around to force 'em
to leave it behind to be destroyed, like in "THE
LEGACY"). And they'll play back -- for the first time
in 1,100 years or so -- symphonic music... choral
orchestrations... music that Galen could never have
imagined to exist. Music to move him to tears. At a
time when Galen is acquiring a fuller education
regarding Man's destructive nature (nuked ruins, etc),
he'll have to weigh this OTHER evidence in the scales
as he's tempted to judge Man the same way that Zaius
does, though Zaius has only seen the evidence of Man's
evil, destructive side. Galen's friendship with the
astronauts will have been put to the test, and he'll
be tempted to reject them and rejoin the Ape world he
was forced to leave behind -- if they'll have him
back, that is. But, will the music he hears tip the
scales in Man's favor...?

Maybe Huston, Colman & Ayres had the 'pull' to get 'em
to shorten the makeup-applying time, so that they had
to put on easier-to-apply appliances. Maybe. I dunno,
though. The POTA orangutans look less like real
orangutans than do the chimps and gorillas. One thing
that Burton's film did right was the orang makeups,
especially that orang senator character. But I still

chimpette. How do we know which one? How CAN we know?
It's too bad that Fox didn't put ALL the names of the
people involved in the production in their movies' End

the credits of PLANET have been, IF they had done so?
Just the number of makeup people alone would've taken
a couple minutes to scroll up!

Speaking of Beatles-related stuff, the 2nd volume of
the American CAPITOL RECORDS Beatles box sets is in
stores now. I ordered one (cheaper) through an online
store (Barnes & Noble, with member discount), and it
should arrive any day now. I've held off buying the
Brit Beatles CD releases since I grew up listening to
the American versions -- "Meet the Beatles", etc. It
just feels 'wrong' somehow to listen to their songs in
a different order than I grew up doing...
And, for those of you non-U.S.A. Beatles fans out
there, the American release of the "HELP!" soundtrack
began with a kick-ass James Bondian intro that is
missing on the Brit release. I can't WAIT to pop that
disc in my CD player and hear it again -- I haven't
listened to my vinyl albums in well over 15 years!

| Subject: Re: God and Ape |
|
.html Hi again, Wendy.
A number of things. First, I've read Dan Brown's very
entertaining page-turners [THE DA VINCI CODE, et al.]
and enjoyed them, having been familiar already with
his sources -- books like HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL by
Baigent, Leigh & Lincoln, etc. In regards to the
Jesus-Magdalene connection, the case can be made that
IF they existed they probably WERE married. Jesus is
referred to as "Rabbi" in the NT, and rabbinical law
mandated marriage for males of age. The question has
been asked: Who got married at the Marriage at Cana?
Jesus' mother Mary seemed to have a part in the
shindig, and she went out of her way to say that they
were low on wine... so she went to Jesus, as if it was
his duty to restock the wine supply for the guests.
It's been argued that it had to have been Jesus'
marriage to Mary Magdalene, and that THIS explains the
roles played by his mother Mary and him. Maybe. It
seems to me that the big tiff the Church(es) have with
all this stems from their doctrines that sought to
denigrate all women. Notice that Jesus' human mother
had to be a Virgin in order to be 'pure' enough to
carry God's offspring in her unsullied womb (the
Catholic doctrine of the "Immaculate Conception", by
the way, refers to MARY having supposedly been
conceived sinlessly -- i.e. without sex -- so that she
would be 'pure' from the get-go). Because women
menstruate, this made them ritually 'unclean' --
inherently impure, in the eyes of the priests who
equated ritual impurity with Sin. Read LEVITICUS to
see all the goofy rules the Israelites had regarding
the 'purity' of a person based on their fluid
discharges. A man who has a wet dream has to do
penance for it!
As for whether or not "most historians and biblical
scholars have discredited the married theory", well,
that's a bunch of hooey. They've ignored it where
possible, ridiculed it when it couldn't be ignored,
and they've CLAIMED to have discredited it... but it's
all moot. The written record is the ONLY record we
have about this topic, and that is suspect, since the
earliest extant manuscripts of the New Testament date
in the 4th century A.D. or so. Sure, those manuscripts
are based on earlier-written documents, but nobody
knows how faithfully those documents were copied. Only
a fool and/or a fanatic would claim that they were
copied perfectly, word-for-word, letter-for-letter.
Recently, it was shown that the earliest extant
manuscript of the book of REVELATION has the dreaded
Number of the Beast as "616", NOT the "666" that has
freaked out so many foolish people over the years. But
is that gonna make the fundamentalists change their
interpretations of bible prophecy? I wouldn't bet on
it!

You mention that "Due to science, we seemed to be ...
in the age, (End of days --- Pisces going into
Aquarius)". Actually, this has nothing to do with
Science (i.e. with Astronomy) and is part of the
discredited 'practise' of Astrology. The musical
"HAIR!" may have a song about "the dawning of the Age
of Aquarius", but that event ain't due to happen for
another 6 or 7 centuries. If you look in one of those
PETERSON FIELD GUIDES -- the one called "STARS AND
PLANETS" -- you'll find that Atlas Chart 21 (of 52)
shows the part of the sky where the celestial Zero
meridian crosses the celestial equator AND the Zodiac
(the "First Point of Aries" it's called, where those
meridians intersect in the sky), less than 10 degrees
south of Omega Piscium currently. At the rate of
Precession of the Equinoxes (about 1 degree every 72
years), the Sun's position will cross the (arbitrary)
border from Pisces-to-Aquarius roughly around the time
when the Lawgiver reads Caesar's story to that group
of chimps and humans in BATTLE. The Sun will be in
alignment with Phi Aquarii (a star which is about 12
degrees of arc away from the Zero/360th degree
position) in about 864 years or so. The so-called "Age
of Aquarius" can't begin until the Sun's position is
within the arbitrary bounds of the zodiacal
constellation in question. It's still in Pisces, which
covers just over 40 degrees of the 360 total degrees
of the Zodiac so as to make Pisces a "longer" Age than
the other 11, which on average are 30 degrees wide
[2,160 years wide], 360 divided by 12. What's funny is
that for the part of the Zodiac in which the Sun is
positioned during the "Age of Scorpio", the Sun spends
most of its time in the constellation Ophiuchus, a
span of almost 19 degrees! Check it out for yourself,
on Atlas Chart 41 of that book. Why don't they call it
the "Age of Ophiuchus", then? There should be 13
constellations of the Zodiac, since the Sun goes
through 13 different constellations during each year.

I have to disagree with you when you say that "If it
hadn't been for Christianity there wouldn't be
science, no education for the masses, and thousands
would perish from starvation and disease".
Historically, the dominance of the Christian religion
dragged Europe into the Dark Ages, where ignorance of
the scientific principles given to us from the Greek
philosophers led to disease epidemics being blamed on
Man's "sinful" nature, a punishment from God. We still
have traces of this abominable belief system, as when
AIDS is said by ignoramuses to be God's vengeance on
homosexuality, or when 9/11 is blamed NOT on the
Islamic fanatics but as God's punishment of America
for tolerating Gays, Feminism, Abortion, and Rock
music (Jerry Falwell said words to that effect soon
after the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon, on Pat
Robertson's "700 Club" show).
I'm not gonna claim that MODERN Christianity hasn't
done far better regarding Science,
Education-for-the-masses, etc. Christian charitable
efforts have been wonderful of late. But this is due
more to the fact that people who practise such charity
have a different view of their religion than
Christians did 1000 years ago. Nobody (virtually) is
FORCED to be a Christian in the Western world anymore,
and they can be a believer in whichever denomination
they like -- by personal choice. I think that the
charitable impulse is deadened in societies which
force their citizens to believe/obey in one particular
"state" religion. The nicest people I know happen to
be Christians (my best friend and his family), and
they can live their lives without suffering
totalitarian intrusions by doctrine-enforcing Spanish
Inquisition-type "authorities". I wonder if my
Christian friends would be as friendly if they were
burdened with an enforced religion?
Be that as it may, fundamentalist Christians STILL
spout their anti-evolution views. Only a fool would
claim that all the living people on the Earth today
can be traced back to the 8 people on Noah's Ark, or
that ALL the land animals in existence today can have
their DNA traced back to the animals Noah took into
the Ark. BULLSHIT! But "Bible Literalists" will
believe in ANYTHING. They'll believe that the Earth
stopped rotating on its axis for about 1 day, just
because the book of JOSHUA says that it happened --
actually, it says that the Sun and Moon stood still in
the sky for "about a day" so that the Israelites would
have enough daylight to slaughter their enemies.
Joshua didn't call upon the planet Earth to stop
rotating; he called upon the Sun and Moon to stop
moving in the sky -- that's why the Church didn't like
it when Science proved that the heavens didn't move,
but that it was the Earth spinning around an axis that
made it SEEM like the skies moved. "Pur si muove,"
Galileo is said to have whispered, when he recanted
his 'heresy' to save his skin from torture by the
Inquisition: "Nevertheless, it [the so-called unmoving
Earth, at the center of the Ptolemaic universe]
moves."
One other thing: Jesus is said to have been brought by
the Devil onto the top of a high mountain, where he
was shown "all the kingdoms of the world", which Satan
offered to him if he would only worship him. The ONLY
way this could make sense is if either the Earth was
FLAT (and, hence, could be seen in its entirety from a
high enough mountaintop), or if the mountain was on
the Moon's near side. Of course, the Earth ain't flat,
and there's no atmosphere on the Moon, so Jesus and
the Devil couldn't talk to each other (without
spacesuits and radio-links, anyway). What do "Bible
Literalists" make of THIS, I wonder?
- - - - - - - -
Finally, I haven't read Phil Pullman's "DARK MATERIAL"
series. I'll have to track it down, if you recommend
it. I've recently re-read Charles Sheffield's novels
"AFTERMATH" and "STARFIRE" (both quite excellent), and
a couple books in the series that began with "RELIC",
co-authored by two guys whose names escape me at the
moment. "STILL LIFE OF CROWS" and "CABINET OF
CURIOSITIES" -- both great reads. "Crows" has a
jaw-dropping ending that I won't ruin here -- read it!

| Subject: ANSA ship's third seat... |
|
.html On the old Yahoo POTA group, the recent messages of which I've just
perused, there were a few posts regarding Jones in the TV pilot.
Somebody mentioned that he was there only because when they re-
designed the interior of the ANSA ship for ESCAPE FROM THE POTA (the
original interior set having been dismantled), they made 3 chairs,
for Zira, Cornelius, and Milo. Then, when they made the TV pilot,
they re-used that interior set, which meant that there were 3 seats
to fill... so they needed there to be 3 astronauts for that reason.
The person who posted that Jones was there ONLY to fill that seat,
and that he could've been written out of the scene if not for the pre-
existing set having 3 seats to fill... I think it's off the mark.
First off, Veska and his entourage wouldn't know that this mysterious
flying 'thing' had been built and flown by HUMANS if not for the fact
that one of 'em -- Jones -- was still in his chair, dead (since
Farrow didn't have time to pull his corpse out and hide it from the
Apes, as he carried Virdon to his "secret cave"). If Veska had found
a 2-seater spaceship EMPTY, then there would be no worries,
necessarily, about the possibility of there being 2 intelligent
humans wandering around and possibly 'infecting' the local humans
with feelings of independence and superiority. For all they knew, it
was a "chariot of the gods" that had landed, and that the 2 "gods"
who had flown it were now in their midst...
Secondly, the ship-interior set for the TV show was not quite the
same as the one they used for ESCAPE. The chronometer of the one in
the film was different than the one seen in the TV pilot, which
resembled the original PLANET set's clock panel. In the "cloudster"
site, there are rare pics of the interior set for the Ape-onaut ship,
and the clocks are on a raised portion of the cockpit console.
It's too bad that they never showed the cockpit from a pilot's-eye-
view, showing the actual consoles and windows from the inside of the
ship (in the TV show). Maybe it's meant to look the same as the
interior of the ESCAPE set (with that TV monitor-unit showing the
flight path descending, and all that). Or, maybe it's meant to be
different, who knows? They changed the clock-portion of the cockpit,
though, when they "re-used" the ESCAPE Ape-onaut ship-set for the TV
pilot.

the Apes, there is always one human who dies when the ship crashes.
Stewart in the origianl, Skipper in Beneath, and Jones in the TV
series. (Since Milo didn't die when the ship crashed, it looks like
only Apes really knew how to piolt that ship...LOL)

Is there any third party confirmation of this?

orangutan makeups with the non-bangs type of wigs & hairpieces they

The orangs didn't have to have as much hair work done.
The chimps had to have individual hairs around the face
so the hair pieces looked more natural. Not to mention
that one over their brows that is as hard to keep in place
as Sean Connery's rug. As you can see in the picture
below. As for the dead-lipped apes in the new movie,
They had their lower lip exposed. So their upper lips
looked dead by comparison. Every solution creates
new problems. It also gave them a big overbite.

Unless it's been revived somewhere else, the TV show Sci-Fi Buzz last aired on the Sci-Fi channel about 10 years ago, which I think is about the time frame when reports first started circulating that Jackson was
in talks to direct an Apes film. So if that's the source, it's pretty out-of-date.
Unless someone can provide a link to a current, credible news source, I refuse to believe any new talk about Jackson directing an Apes film, much as I'd like to see that happen. He's stated many times
in post-Kong interviews that he's taking a year or so off to consider what he's doing next. So far the only project that's even been mentioned, as far as I know, is The Lovely Bones.

If we hadn't been told that the mother of Quintus was played by someone named
Beverly, I would've suggested that Erlynn Botelho played her AND Dr. Galen's
assistant, but the "E. Botelho" placard is enough proof for me that she
definitely played the latter role.
I believe the line in the museum is "Come along, Quintus!"
Dr. Galen is the only male ape in Planet whose name doesn't have the
Roman "us" ending. Perhaps this was done to indicate that he's a "foreigner"
from another area who thinks he's being discriminated against because of his
species, when his superiors are really prejudiced against him because of his
place of origin.

If we
hadn't been told that the mother of Quintus was played by someone named

that she definitely played the latter role.
You never know...it could be crap. And it's not just actors and
actresses
who lie about having been in it. Beaches from Africa to Argentina
claim
that they were used as a location for the shoot. But or course it's
not true.

OK, here's yet another BENEATH DVD cover I've made, this one using the original 1-sheet for the front cover, then the best I can come up with for a back cover. Again, I'm still working on it.

Issue 81 is now available to download from Hunter's site. This issue returns us to the Future History Chronicles storyline featuring giant city-ships of apes. Art is by Tom Sutton. This issue also includes a
photo of Urko as well as a letters page. Greg

.htmlI'm almost tempted to say that the 'back cover' is the one that should
be on the front. I like how you've added the mutants arched over the
main logo.
Now how about one with the steam room scene. (Just KIDDING!)
