Aldo is actually my favorite of the paintings, as well. Zira is a
close second.

The puzzle back is an earlier stage of the final Aldo painting, what
Graham calls the 'underpainting'.

first stage of the painting of Aldo. Thought that it would make a
nice contrast between what it looks like to start with and the final

Aldo is a character that needs more representation. In the movies, he
is easily the meanest of the Gorillas and is the one Gorilla that
emphasizes the difference among the ape species. He is up front about
his defiance and goes far beyond what other Gorillas have done. In
Beneath, Ursus is coniving, but even he had Zauis to back him up to an
extent. Aldo's closest competitor in this sense is Brutus from the
Terror comics. Both push the other Gorillas beyond what they would
have done on their own.

I am saying this: Look at Zira in PLANET and compare the way she looks in there compared to her two sequel appearances... She does look quite a bit different when you study her... (Well, Roddy looks quite a bit different too in ESCAPE, too much hair, etc.)

I am not gonna set here and say with certainty that if I looked at stills I'd know for sure which film each still is from, but she looks different enough in each that I'd say I'd be able to do a pretty good job of it...

While I agree with your comment that this tape is indeed a god example of "WTF", I can tell you why they are referred to as the "lost episodes"...

Remember the TV series "movies? These two episodes were not included in those, as two others were also left out... I remember years ago, people would sell VHS tapes of the "lost episodes" at pretty big prices...<.html

I am saying this: Look at Zira in PLANET and compare the way she looks in there compared to her two sequel appearances... She does look quite a bit different when you study her... (Well, Roddy looks quite a bit different too in ESCAPE, too much hair, etc.)

I am not gonna set here and say with certainty that if I looked at stills I'd know for sure which film each still is from, but she looks different enough in each that I'd say I'd be able to do a pretty good job of it...
