would love to! I have been a fan of POTA sice I was a kid, racing my bike home to catch ape week after school and the TV series and the animated series...Well anything POTA-LOL! Anyway, I had gotten into
writing/mixing/ and voice acting for Darker Projects, A wonderful Audio Drama group I might add, and me and my partners decided to do some stuff that didn't fit the DP cannon. So we are starting BrokenSea audio. All
free downloads of our shows with the Best Quality Productions and Fine acting and a whole lot of love and fun to bbot!
And well I felt the urge to do POTA. But I wanted to to add a bit here and there and not just do a straight adaption, parts from Boulles book mixed with the actual screenplay (the astronauts at the begininng of
the book finally get to be a part of the story for instance) from the movies, and added a few bits I thought would fit and expand on the movies I so love and adore.
I hope that helps! If you haven't listened to the trailer for the show yet, it is at our BrokenSea yahoo group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BrokenSea/
in the files section as well as Hunter's wonderful site. We have recieved so much support for this-I cannot thank you all enough for your interest. The website and POTA Audio Drama debut Mar 1, along with a
few other shows we are doing, and have many more in the works.
Aagin thank you for the invite and the interest. I am trully humbled.

Hmmmm... Without giving too much away, I am working on more background on Dr Milo, Dr Hassline, and a few other bits that I thought would be interesting to have a go at. As well as finding a
way to meld the book and the screenplays together if that makes sense.

Hi Bill (and Paul) great to have you both here! Can't wait to find out more about your upcoming Audio Drama, I've listened to the preview teaser and it sounds very intriguing.
One thing I am interested to find out is, in your advert, it states it features additional scenes and I was just wondering if you could tell us a bit about them if it doesn't
give anything away?
Cheers,
Neil

Thank you! I am hoping it will add a bit without totally throwing it out of whack as I feel, and you are free to disagree, Tim Burton did.

would love to! I have been a fan of POTA sice I was a kid, racing my bike home to catch ape week after school and the TV series and the animated series...Well anything POTA-LOL! Anyway, I
had gotten into writing/mixing/ and voice acting for Darker Projects, A wonderful Audio Drama group I might add, and me and my partners decided to do some stuff that didn't fit the DP cannon. So we are starting
BrokenSea audio. All free downloads of our shows with the Best Quality Productions and Fine acting and a whole lot of love and fun to bbot!
And well I felt the urge to do POTA. But I wanted to to add a bit here and there and not just do a straight adaption, parts from Boulles book mixed with the actual screenplay (the
astronauts at the begininng of the book finally get to be a part of the story for instance) from the movies, and added a few bits I thought would fit and expand on the movies I so love and adore.

Seperate parts. Each episode will run between 15-20minutes as the Ape flies-LOL! Mainly because we each have 3-4 projects we are writing and producing/writing and getting our wonderful casts
to preform. If you or anyone in the group is interested in voice acting or anything we do, join our brokensea Yahoo group, cast calls are going out all the time. At the moment I am mixing episode #3 (will be done
by friday) and just wrote ep#7. So it may take a bit, but I think it will allow me to explore the apes world and give it the attention it deserves. At some Point I may mix them into larger episodes, but at the moment I
am just having a ball getting everything in order.

What I like best are the way he is expanding on things like Dr Milo's investigation into the crashed ship... and other things.

One could say that, and I appreciate that you have a strong view my friend. But I think if you give it a listen it will make sense in the end. I didn't just want to "APE"
either the book or the original POTA. Bear with me, I am trying to make something new and different but still be true to 2 wonderful adventures. All I ask is that you give it a fair shake and if it still doesn't
work for you, point out where and how after giving it a listen my friend. I can take all the knocks based on that amigo and I will answer and stand before the gathered Ape Fans and take whatever you have good and bad.
As for Soror,
I thought it (Soror) was the earth, hence the shock when Ulysses returns with Nova in the spaceship and finds apes where he thought his world should be.and the shock that
Jinn and Phyllis are apes. I could be wrong and have been many times...LOL!
But thank you for your comments my friend!

With all due respect. Feel free to produce your own. I will listen with an open mind. But to bash people in such a manner, for trying to make something to listen to to take their mind off
their day seems somewhat harsh.

already made it clear that your audio drama is not going to meet those expectations. Therefore, I don't need to listen to it to know I won't like it.

It is appreciated in a lot of places Bill, they might not be the most
vocal element but...
(I haven't posted much in the last week for a few reasons but I'm sure
a couple of members can guess why)
I look forward to hearing it and you know what ? if the story line
doesn't go in the direction I expect, so what, I'll get over it I'm an
adult, it'll be a fun ride. Just because some one has a different take
on a story line doesn't mean the work in itself isn't good or worthy,
It's just different.
I know we're all "grumpy old men" but I tend to think being open minded
is a good thing until proved otherwise.
So best of luck Bill !!!

I know we're all "grumpy old men" but I tend to think being open
minded
is a good thing until proved otherwise.
So best of luck Bill !!!
Bye, Graham.

Seriously, there are tons of people that will not give something a chance based on preconceived notions... Music, movies, TV, and the Arts... People have their ideas of what they will like or not even if they never
even sampled other areas... Why should APES be any different?
I for one know I wouldn't even give something like crossing APES and ALIEN a chance at all... Nor would I read a story where Urko is kind to a puppy or poems about him...

The same people who want the keep the original POTA pristine and
untainted by novel approaches seem to have forgotten that it original
movie itself was nearly never made because studio heads refused to
tackle such an original idea. Jacobs tried for years to get POTA made
and faced similar opposition. Thankfully one studio exec had the
gonads to give Jacobs a chance. If everyone adapted the thick skinned
approach that some here have expressed then POTA would certainly be
destined to evolve no further.
Honestly, some people act like they are shutins, who want to hide in
their little corner with a copy of POTA in their hands and close off
the rest of the world.
I can only thank my lucky stars that there are people here that still
try to come up with new material. They may not always work. Some are
hits, some are misses. But one thing they all have in common is that
someone tried. If you don't try you'll never succeed.

I never said I opposed this work because of its originality. I'm all for originality, and if this were a completely original story, I'd be eager to listen to it. I will probably listen to this mostly
unoriginal amalgamation, despite my extremely low expectations, because I would like to hear the truly original parts.
My problem with this work is that it makes unacceptable changes to the source material in order to make the book and the movie compatible. I feel that "new material" which only serves to desecrate the
old is rubbish. This isn't Jacobs going to the studios, this is Burton. On Feb 23, 2007, at 8:34 am, Dario Sciola wrote:

Thanks for the link Rory, interesting article, it's the planning and forethought that they show that is interesting, that they actually think through a task.
Oh I did miss read the title of your post for a sec' and thought it said chimps make weapons to hunt scientists ( No comma ) which would have been a whole different story, They could make a
film out of that

Hey guys I was surfing the web last night and found some POTA
commercials for the toys in the 1970's. I thought you guys might want to have a
look back at how cheesy our toy commercials where. One of the odd things about
this is the music in the back ground is from 2001 a space oddity? Didn't these
guys have bad blood because they lost out to POTA in the academy awards in
1968?

I'd join in myself but as you say it's Friday night and well I've already started on the whiskey !!! (I've ran out of southern comfort and not keen on the vodka... but the way things
are going the top might just come off that as well ! )

Dear All,
This months "Model and Collectors Mart" which is a UK mag, has the first
part of a POTA feature on collecting. This month takes in the film history and
talks about the books, Sideshow and Apemania. Next month is TV, animation and
Burton. It will also look at the big wave of collectables from 73 onwards.
I will try and put it into a PDF or scan it somehow for the
POTADG files.
Hope you are all well

Am I the only one who perceives the irony in all this?
The same
people who want the keep the original POTA pristine and untainted by novel
approaches seem to have forgotten that it original movie itself was nearly
never made because studio heads refused to tackle such an original idea.
Jacobs tried for years to get POTA made and faced similar opposition.
Thankfully one studio exec had the gonads to give Jacobs a chance. If
everyone adapted the thick skinned approach that some here have expressed
then POTA would certainly be destined to evolve no further.
Honestly, some people act like they are shutins, who want to hide in
their little corner with a copy of POTA in their hands and close off
the rest of the world.
I can only thank my lucky stars that there
are people here that still try to come up with new material. They may not
always work. Some are hits, some are misses. But one thing they all have
in common is that someone tried. If you don't try you'll never
succeed.
Ok, my friday rant is over...

Hey guys I was surfing the web last night and found some
POTA commercials for the toys in the 1970's. I thought you guys might want to
have a look back at how cheesy our toy commercials where. One of the odd
things about this is the music in the back ground is from 2001 a space oddity?
Didn't these guys have bad blood because they lost out to POTA in the academy

Anyway, as far as "bad blood", there is the story that they thought John Chambers ripped them off (the way he designed our APES was supposedly "stolen" from the 2001 crew during the filming...) I
do not know of any bad blood from losing out to PLANET at the 1969 awards though...

.htmlI thought that PLANET was green-lighted when Fox realized that sci-fi
could make big bucks due to the success of "FANTASTIC VOYAGE". Isn't
this tidbit mentioned in the BEHIND THE POTA documentary? I don't
recall Fox having to make PLANET in order to get their hands on
APJ's "DR. DOOLITTLE" project. We APES fans should be ever so
grateful that "FANTASTIC VOYAGE" was the hit it was, cuz PLANET
wouldn't have been made (in all probability) if it wasn't for that
fact.
I don't know if this is an exaggeration or not, but I think that SF
films have saved more than one studio from going belly-up. PLANET
(and its sequels) made money for FOX when several other expensive
films didn't do enough box office (like "DR. DOOLITTLE" for
instance). And "LOGAN'S RUN" saved MGM at the time, too. Most of the
top moneymakers have been SF films, from the "STAR WARS" franchise to
the "TERMINATOR" movies. SF or fantasy, that is -- those "LORD OF THE
RINGS" movies did boffo biz.

Do you mean "24 hour party people " about Factor records and the Manchester scene of the late 70's, on through to the 90's "Madchester" scene and the rise of
the Haçienda club, which when I was at art school was the place to be seen, as long as you didn't mind the drug gangs, stabbings, guns and shootings !!
Best, Graham.
