in some cases, but I'd guess they like APES at least more than your average
person on the street... I can't see that many people buying APES stuff
purely as an "investment" ... ***

Last night I caught the end of a
documentary about the A bomb called The Day After Trinity. I didn't realise at
the time but noticed in the end credits that the narrator was Paul Frees. Bit
of a stretch but it does sort of tie in with Beneath in an obscure
way.

Last
night I caught the end of a documentary about the A bomb called The Day After
Trinity. I didn't realise at the time but noticed in the end credits that the
narrator was Paul Frees. Bit of a stretch but it does sort of tie in with
Beneath in an obscure way.

I think we've all been guilty at one time or another
of paying too much for a collectible. Especially
on the leading edge when you think No One Has
On Of These! Guilty as charged. I bought what
I thought was Kim's Caricature from Sardi's. Not
only did se say it wasn't it, since her's was still
hanging in the restaurant, she didn't care for the
artist's representation of her. Wasn't someone
selling Dr. Zira's image in a tortilla or something?

Supposedly it is. I got a copy of it 15 years through the film fx circuit intact - wings and all. I used at least two different copies of it in the "Planet of the Men" short. I was
working on some films with a friend who had worked for the owner Greg Jein. It's supposedly a copy of the miniature used in the sinking sequence and other unused sequences of the ship "righting" itself.

The Hoyts Group
is an Australian company consisting
of Hoyts Exhibition, Hoyts Distribution and Val Morgan.
Hoyts Exhibition manages 450 screens across 40 Australian and 9 New
Zealand cinema
complexes; making it Australia 's
second largest cinema chain. Val Morgan, the cinema advertising arm of the
Hoyts group, dominates the cinema advertising market with over 95% market
share. Finally, Hoyts Distribution is the largest independent film distributor
in Australia ; a business centred on the purchase of rights to, and subsequent
management of, distributing independent films in
Australia through theatrical,
television and home entertainment channels.
There’s a RegENT in Brisbane, which is very old and would
win the hearts of any enthusiast (still has the organ the chappy played in the
old B&W silent movies when Whitty would twirl his evil one-dimensional moustache
after tying the blonde to the train tracks).
This is its exterior and I don’t think they match at all!
But it has a MAGNIFICENT inside………

However the cinema shown below is IMHO in
SYDNEY – in
George Street I believe. Neil?
William – was there any more information?

LOL. Yeah. But at the time, there was nothing else to choose from. Cant' say i even compared it to the film, but that model can be distinguished by a couple small indentations behind
the windows. Now that the blue ray is out, it might be worth looking into more closely.

I wasn't saying
that your movie or anything looked crap I meant the model that is being passed
off as an original prop from Planet looks crap and wrong.
I have just
watched the sinking sequence and the model they used for that definitely has the
olive green panels, the gold nose cone and the flags on those little wings at
the front, all things that the alleged original miniature model up for sale
on eBay doesn't have.
As there are no
other uses of the miniature in the film that I know of I can not believe
that the thing on eBay is genuine.

Speaking of which, I didn't know until recently that the voice of General Urko in Return - Henry Corden - was also the voice of Fred Flintstone from 1977 to 2005. Also, Roy E. Glenn who
played a lawyer on the Presidential Commission in Escape was supposedly the original voice of Tony the Tiger, but that's refuted by Kellogg's themselves.

I’m interested to see how people react
to what I think is a brazened ploy to jack up the total number of posts.
That’s why I am discussing it here.
Neil and I meet up fortnightly and we were
discussing this last time we met – feeling it is NOT something we would
want at the DG because it would piss more people off than it would make feel
good, so I’m checking that theory.
And with the underwhelming response, I
still have the view of 4 people.

Especially photos

would probably join or start up a Yahoo 'old cinemas group'. I don't see the
point just because they showed Planet of the Apes movies, what next, are we
going to hunt down pictures of every theatre in the world that has shown Apes
movies. God I hope not!

The Hoyts
Group
is an Australian company consisting of
Hoyts Exhibition, Hoyts Distribution and Val Morgan.
Hoyts Exhibition manages 450 screens
across 40 Australian and 9
New Zealand cinema complexes;
making it Australia 's second largest cinema chain. Val Morgan, the cinema
advertising arm of the Hoyts group, dominates the cinema advertising market
with over 95% market share. Finally, Hoyts Distribution is the largest
independent film distributor in Australia ; a business centred
on the purchase of rights to, and
subsequent management of, distributing independent films in Australia
through theatrical, television and home entertainment
channels.
There’s a RegENT in Brisbane, which is
very old and would win the hearts of any enthusiast (still has the organ the
chappy played in the old B&W silent movies when Whitty would twirl his
evil one-dimensional moustache after tying the blonde to the train tracks).
This is its exterior and I don’t think
they match at all! But it has a MAGNIFICENT
inside………
However the cinema shown below is IMHO
in SYDNEY – in George Street I believe. Neil? William – was
there any more information?

Absolutely it's crap and not uncommon. Sorry, Neil, I wasn't clear. I should learn to have my coffee BEFORE posting. I've always been curious whether that common casting was a
bad copy or one of a maquette. And, yeah, anyone paying more than a few bucks for that obvious faker is a sap. Kinda reminds me of that Statue of Liberty being passed off on ebay some time back as real. LOL. Stay cool!

Absolutely it's crap and not uncommon. Sorry, Neil, I wasn't clear. I
should learn to have my coffee BEFORE posting. I've always been curious
whether that common casting was a bad copy or one of a maquette. And, yeah,
anyone paying more than a few bucks for that obvious faker is a sap. Kinda
reminds me of that Statue of Liberty being passed off on ebay some time back
as real. LOL. Stay cool! Matt

ALICE COOPER WORKING ON NEW MUSIC, LIVE ALBUM
Alice Cooper
is out on his Theatre of Death tour
right now, but if for some reason you're not able to catch the production
before it wraps in December, you're in luck. The shock rocker told Billboard.com that he plans to film and
record the show. Cooper also plans to continue the tour in 2010.
Additionally, Alice
has begun working on a new album and he says he already has three or four songs
written for it. The singer revealed that effort will introduce a new
character, a new direction and he'll use a "surprising
producer" on it.

So they decided
that a "nationally recognized expert on Serling and the film" is a better bet
than someone who usually gets the gig just because he authored a book about
POTA. Good on them.

Humph! They couldn't get Eric Greene,
huh?

Watch 'Planet of the Apes' for free
August 12, 2009
"Planet of the Apes" will be featured Thursday
during this week's installment of the Binghamton Summer Film.
The free movie, which features a screenplay written
by Binghamton native Rod Serling, will start at 7:10 p.m. at the Broome
County Forum Theater. After the screening, there will be a "talk back" with
Ithaca College Professor Gordon Webb, a nationally recognized expert on
Serling and the film. Prior
to the feature film, there will be a pre-show organ concert from 6:30 to 7
p.m. and a Rod Serling Video Festival screening of an award-winning
student film at 7 p.m.
