I can't take any credit for the artwork, it was done by Frank Langford for an old B&W advert for the Megos (well Palitoy actually) that appeared in comics in the UK in the mid 70's.
I just cropped it and coloured it.

The blu for the OTHER Pierre Boulle novel made
into a film (it also had Michael Wilson doing the scripting) has been officially
announced for Nov. 2nd as a two disc, remastered wonder that will include a new
comprehensive documentary that will cover everything from adapting Boulle's
novel to how they remastered this bad boy. Everyone knows the famous theme (Rod
Serling had it play on his car horn).
So only two Boulle novels have been made into
films and both were Oscar-winning classics of moviedom. Isn't anyone going
to adapt a 3rd Boulle book? He's not around to complain about it any more.

Forgive me if this is old news for I am not an

Johnny Williams for the famed Edward G. Robinson makeup test:
Basically the first music ever used for POTA .
Wouldn't it be groovy if Williams went full circle and scored "Rise of the
Apes"? I know, it'll never happen. Your loved ones would be dead and forgotten
for 20 centuries before he'd do it. 20 centuries! But still, now is the time to
fantasize before the cold reality of the hack they hire is announced.

I'm so happy! I was finally able to make a successful foam run. Third time's the charm I guess. It took 3 hours at 200 degrees fahrenheit to bake her, and I adjusted my refining time which gave me an
additional minute to work with the foam before it gelled on me. I used a $20 el cheap-o hand mixer from Wally World because I killed the vintage one with my first foam run. Temperature was at 74 degrees fahrenheit,
with 47% humidity. Whoo!

Here's a couple of pics shot in San Francisco.
Though the film is shooting in Vancouver, it's set in San Fran so this is
probably some background action stuff. The actor is Terry Notary, famed movement
expert who ran "Ape School" for POTA2001.

Yeah, those cheap hand mixers are unkillable.
And if they do? Who cares? I'd never use our
Kitchenaid, or I'd be the one killed. Amazed it
cured in 3 hours. Takes me 4 - 6, but it's more
humid here. Here are links to the sort of thing I
used for the teeth. They seem to work well.

I'm in San Fran for the week and was strolling through Chinatown
yesterday. A steep street section between Grant and Stockton was closed
off and they had this tram go up about half way for a shot and then come
back down. They did it over and over. I stood for about 20 minutes
watching them from the bottom. I asked what they were filming and one of
the crew said a movie called "Caesar" but as I believed that all of Rise
was going to be filmed in Vancouver, I did not think it was POTA Caesar.
I even took a few video clips with my camera of some shoots. (I will
upload to Youtube when I get back). After I left the scene and came back
hours later, they were still shooting.
PS: I should meet up with Jessica later this week and she'll get to see
the vids on my camera first.
Amazing...

I WAS THERE!
I'm in San Fran for the week and was strolling through
Chinatown yesterday. A steep street section between Grant and Stockton was
closed off and they had this tram go up about half way for a shot and then
come back down. They did it over and over. I stood for about 20
minutes watching them from the bottom. I asked what they were filming and one
of the crew said a movie called "Caesar" but as I believed that all of
Rise was going to be filmed in Vancouver, I did not think it was POTA
Caesar. I even took a few video clips with my camera of some shoots. (I
will upload to Youtube when I get back). After I left the scene and came
back hours later, they were still shooting.
PS: I should meet up with
Jessica later this week and she'll get to see the vids on my camera
first.
Amazing...

Here's a "lost" interview with Rod "Planet of the
Apes" Serling. Not that he worked on "Lost", because he was, like, dead. But
lost in terms of not having seen the light of day. That sign post up ahead,
you're about to enter the Lost Zone. Not as in "Lost", just lost.

J. J. Abrams, the creator of "Lost", was a
POTA/"Twilight Zone" fan. He loved the twisty storytelling and brought that to
his TV shows/movies. So in a sense Serling did work on "Lost". Though I never
watched "Lost".

When the premise of "Rise of the Apes" is brought
up, people sometimes compare it to the 1999 shark flick "Deep Blue Sea": CG
sharks are manipulated to find a cure for Alzheimer's and they turn out
super-intelligent and run amok (er, swim amok). It's a comparison that will
probably continue. I haven't seen this movie but it might be worth a look now
that it's on blu-ray.

I don't think it is bullshit as most POTA 'fans' are indeed weirdos. All one has to do to confirm this is to check out posts from a lot of the idiots who hang around and post on
these groups.

However, when I joined the POTA Yahoo! Group

that POTA fans are considered particularly weird by their own and other fandoms.

I agree. further more I believe that the whole notion of what's weird and what's normal doesn't fall too short of Hitler's Nazism.
That's why the whole notion of what's weird and what's normal is no different that ones own bullshit opinion (Hitler being a prime example).
There is no such thing as normal. And anyone who believes that they are, is a complete idiot in my opinion.
As for this other idiot who wrote that article, If a man goes out and commits mass murder and claims he's a Star Wars fan, does that mean that every Star Wars fan is a mass murderer? Of course not.
Only to the idiot that wrote the article in the first place. Of course to him it makes perfect sense.
Now I think I've wasted enough time on these subjects.
Cheers. :o)

There is a thing we call sanity. When one
loses this, one is not normal.
The writer of the article is not
concluding anything about this gunman other than he is a fan of POTA.
Any other conclusions may (or may not) be
drawn by the readers of the article.
It is my opinion that POTA collectors are
on the whole very strange people. Anthony George is just downright weird as
hell. He collects at fever pitch – driving the market into ridiculous heights
then sells his collection at a whim for a fraction of the price he paid and then
he starts all over again.
Joe Farrell is downright strange too. I’m
not going into details but he is unusual.
And the list goes on. So I can say I
think POTA collectors are weird on the whole.
I don’t think I’m normal but I do know
there is such a thing. I know that because I have been totally void of sanity
and the fact is Alex if you don’t think there’s such a thing as weird (eg a man
living in his own feces and snacking on it every so often) then you are quite
wrong.

Why? Because they collect a lot of stuff or pay
big bucks? That's not exclusive to POTA. Ken must of just been saying that
because POTA collectors is what he knows. Most people don't even know POTA fans
exist on that level. "Trekkies" are the famous ones.

I believe the fact that the gunmen liked POTA was listed on his facebook page under favorite movies.....

Alex
There is a thing we call sanity. When one
loses this, one is not normal.
The writer of the article is not
concluding anything about this gunman other than he is a fan of POTA.
Any other conclusions may (or may not) be
drawn by the readers of the article.
It is my opinion that POTA collectors are
on the whole very strange people. Anthony George is just downright weird as
hell. He collects at fever pitch – driving the market into ridiculous heights
then sells his collection at a whim for a fraction of the price he paid and then
he starts all over again.
Joe Farrell is downright strange too. I'm
not going into details but he is unusual.
And the list goes on. So I can say I
think POTA collectors are weird on the whole.
I don't think I'm normal but I do know
there is such a thing. I know that because I have been totally void of sanity
and the fact is Alex if you don't think there's such a thing as weird (eg a man
living in his own feces and snacking on it every so often) then you are quite
wrong.
Michael

I agree. further more I believe that the whole notion of
what's weird and what's normal doesn't fall too short of Hitler's Nazism.
That's why the whole notion of what's weird and what's
normal is no different that ones own bullshit opinion (Hitler being a prime
example).
There is no such thing as normal. And anyone who believes
that they are, is a complete idiot in my opinion.
As for this other idiot who wrote that article, If a
man goes out and commits mass murder and claims he's a Star Wars fan, does that
mean that every Star Wars fan is a mass murderer? Of course not. Only to
the idiot that wrote the article in the first place. Of course to him it makes
perfect sense.
Now I think I've wasted enough time on these subjects.

James Franco took a break from filming "Rise of
the Apes" (or maybe he's done with his scenes) to appear at the Telluride Film
Festival for his movie "127 Hours". It's getting some good reviews and sounds
like an intense movie. Again I say we may have an Oscar nominee headlining
"Apes".
Some might find it heartening to know that even
Franco sometimes has to resort to solo sex (he's such a cutie):

40 gun salute in Ape City! Urko molded so very nicely. He's still got a long way to go before he becomes a reality...but he will be spectacular. And he fits in my airbake oven (barely, but he fits!), so I
won't have to MacGuyver anything!!
Jess.
Looking great as ever Jess, everything crossed for you. Rob

That James Franco movie "127 Hours" was actually
shot where the events took place, in Blue John Canyon in Canyonlands National
Park, Utah. That's next to Glen Canyon and Lake Powell where the Forbidden Zone
was filmed for POTA. So if the topography looks familiar that's
why.
Here's that wayward link I tried

I'll always consider POTA and "2001" blood
brothers, coming as they did a little more than a month apart in 1968 and both
changing the science-fiction landscape (though some "2001" fans might sniff at
POTA and some POTA fans might yawn at "2001"). Reportedly there's a new box set
of Stanley Kubrick movies being worked on, including a new edition of "2001".
Here's a preview at FX legend Douglas Trumbull's website of a new documentary
he's doing about the movie, "2001: Beyond the Infinite". And holy macaroni,
check out some of the other videos he's got there. Thanks to the Digital
Bits.

Imdb lists Conrad Buff and Mark Goldblatt as the
editors of the ape opus. Both have extensive James Cameron credits, so they know
how to chop out the boring character stuff and get to the action. ;
)
I guess that means the composer gets announced
next. John Williams, Howard Shore, Michael Giacchino or Bear McCreary. Accept no
substitute. <.html <.html
