I'm glad that photo has finally shown up someplace. I've seen it
before -- Joe Russo has it. There are actually three "Stewarts" in
PLANET. First there's the "Alive Stewart" (actress Dianne Stanley),
then the "Dead Stewart" (an unknown older woman in prosthetic makeup),
then there's "Dead Dummy Stewart" (the dummy Heston and Hunter are
looking at in the photo). It's "Dead Dummy Stewart" that you see when
the jet of water hits the glass of her hypersleep chamber, and someone
forgot to cross the arms of Dummy Stewart.

David Honl is a photographer and appears to be the Significant Other
of Claudia Christian, who starred in the first four seasons of Babylon
5, among other things. They have a new DVD out that shows how to
light photo shoots. Among the photo shoots covered is someone in Zira
makeup. The DVD is expensive, but there's a trailer for it on this
page (and on YouTube) that gives a brief glimpse of the Zira shoot at
00:21.

I've never read that Goldsmith didn't compose all the music in ESCAPE.
The Shopping cue sounds very much like Goldsmith. It's hard for me to
even imagine he didn't compose it.

I just got it. Packaging looks very nice. In fact, I like it better
then the one for Varese Sarabande's PLANET. The old Intrada CD of
PLANET really evokes the original movie, but there was no booklet. I
haven't listened to it yet though.

Anyway, James brought up before that he read somewhere that Goldsmith
didn't compose the "Shopping Spree" cue. I can't imagine who would say
such a thing. It has Goldsmith's style all over it and, I think, is
very similar to something he wrote almost two years before.

Do any of you remember the ABC sitcom "Room 222"? It premiered in
September 1969 and here's a link to the opening on YouTube. Listen to
the theme music by Jerry Goldsmith and let's see if you agree with me
that this is very much like "Shopping Spree" from ESCAPE.

The story of four humans who end up in the future after a spaceship mishap, and help their descendants against the mutated survivors of nuclear war. In an intersting bit of trivia, one of the stars, Rod Taylor would, four years later star in The Time Machine! An excellent film, the other movie on the DVD is satelitte in the sky. I only wish they would have added a trailer for World! And one of the future humans is played by Booth Colman!

Yeah, you're talking about WORLD WITHOUT END. Very proto-POTA. Had it
years ago on VHS, but it's really nice now in letterboxed anamorphic
DVD.

Forgive me if I'm remembering things wrong but it was several years ago. What I recall is that someone asked why the "Shopping Spree" music wasn't included in the Escape Suite on the Planet soundtrack CD. The explanation was that Goldsmith hadn't composed it. I don't remember who said it or even if were in this group. It could have been elsewhere.

The image on the back cover is the same image used on the CD for the "Conquest/Battle" combo.  I believe it is Caesar with fire in the background.  Just my opinion.

Yeah, the image on the back cover is from CONQUEST, but at least the
booklet feature all ESCAPE images. I'd bet that even if Varese re-did
PLANET the booklet would feature some image actually from BENEATH. It
drives me nuts when an image of Taylor and Nova from BENEATH is
presented as being from PLANET. Can't they see Heston is fatter?

And several cues on the ESCAPE CD aren't in the final edit of ESCAPE,
such as "I like you."

You know, the more I look at it the less I think it is from CONQUEST.
It could be BATTLE, but it sure does look like ocean in the background.
If so, it might be a behind-the-scenes thing from the TV show, but I
wonder if we'll ever know for sure. It's another POTA mystery!

In any event, it ain't from ESCAPE and they should have picked
something else.

if its not germany then what do i have. and they made app. two sets of german lobby cards totaling something like 40 pictures. their is also a danish and netherland and a bunch of intertwined northern european sets that are 11x14 and 8x11 approx.if i had a scanner id show you. it says printed in germany in german so i assume its german..john m

i got the picture that says taylor and nova at end on beach in a 16x24 size in my audio room,like you said thick kodak.be carefull i have many photos and sometimes the image is reversed. back in the 70s their was a plethora of 35mm slides at various postershops and it seems this place scoffed them all up. they were going for 5 bucks a piece in 1976 and as a teenager i just got blowups made for 5 bucks each,not knowing the real value was in buying the slides.another missed opportunity. john m.. pota68@...
